Anandeswaram Sree Mahadeva Temple is located in Chengannur, Alappuzha, Kerala, and is one of the oldest temples in the Pandanad village.The main deity of the temple is Lord Shiva, worshipped as Anandeshwaram Mahadeva.
The temple was earlier on the bank of the river Pampa. The temple houses shrines dedicated to various other deities, including Maha Vishnu, Parvati as Bhuvaneshwary, Ganapathy, Sasthavu, Yakshiamma, Nagaraja, Nagayakshi, and Brahmarakshas. The major festival at Anandeswaram Sree Mahadeva Temple is Maha Shivarathri, which takes place during the month of Kumbham.
This auspicious occasion is marked by various rituals and ceremonies dedicated to Lord Shiva, attracting numerous devotees from the region. The temple becomes a vibrant center of spiritual activities, with special poojas, abhishekam, and night-long prayers, creating a deeply devotional atmosphere. Before Maha Shivarathri, the temple celebrates Parayeduppu during the festival season. In this unique tradition, the idol of Mahadeva is taken in a procession to visit the homes of the people in the Pandanad area. അനന്ദീശ്വര൦ ശ്രീമഹാദേവ ക്ഷേത്ര൦
ആലപ്പുഴ ജില്ലയിൽ ചെങ്ങന്നൂരിന് സമീപമുള്ള പാണ്ടനാട്ടിൽ സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന പുരാതന ക്ഷേത്രമാണ് അനന്ദേശ്വരം മഹാദേവക്ഷേത്രം. ഈ പ്രദേശത്തെ ഒരു പഴയ ക്ഷേത്രമാണിത്. ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലേക്ക് ചെങ്ങന്നൂരിൽ നിന്നും ആറ് കിലോമീറ്ററും മാന്നാറിൽ നിന്ന് നാല് കിലോമീറ്ററും അകലെ സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നു. പെരുന്തച്ചൻ പണിത ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ പ്രധാന പ്രതിഷ്ഠ മഹാദേവനാണ്. പഴയ കാലത്ത് ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം പമ്പാനദിയുടെ അടുത്തായിരുന്നു.
ഒരു സമയത്ത്, നദിയുടെ ഒഴുക്ക് മാറിയതോടെ, ആ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന് നാശം സംഭവിക്കുകയും, പിന്നീട് ക്ഷേത്രം വഞ്ഞിപ്പുഴ മഠത്തിലെ ആനന്ദീശ്വരം ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലേക്ക് മാറ്റി സ്ഥാപിക്കപ്പെട്ടതായി വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നു. പ്രധാന ദിവസങ്ങൾ കുംഭമാസത്തിലെ മഹാശിവരാത്രി, ധനുമാസത്തിലെ തിരുവാതിര എന്നിവയാണ്. എല്ലാ വർഷവും ഇവിടെ അന്നദാനത്തോടെ സപ്താഹയജ്ഞം നടത്തപ്പെടുന്നു. കൂടാതെ, മഹാശിവരാത്രിക്കുമുമ്പ് പാണ്ടനാട്ട് ഭാഗത്ത് എല്ലാ വീടുകളിലും പറയെടുപ്പ് നടത്തുന്നത് നവാഹയജ്ഞത്തിന്റെ ഭാഗമാണ്. ഉപദേവന്മാർ മഹാവിഷ്ണു, പാർവ്വതി, ഭുവനേശ്വരി, ഗണപതി, ശാസ്താവ്, യക്ഷിയമ്മ, നാഗരാജാവ്, നാഗയക്ഷി, ബ്രഹ്മരക്ഷസ് എന്നിവരാണ്.
