Anaprampal Sri Dharmashastha Temple holds significant historical importance and is situated 2.2 kilometers east of Edathwa in the Alappuzha district, in proximity to Thalavadi village.
The deity in question is Bhagavan, the householder who enters Mada Gaja within the Shasta framework. Shasta represents the fusion of Tejas with Vishnu and Shiva. Prasanna Vadanana Bhagavan resides here alongside his wife, Prabha, and their son, Satyagan. Additionally, by coming into contact with Amrita Kumbha, one is granted the appearance of a healer. Sri Dharma Shasta, revered as the national deity of Ana Prambal land, is also present in this location. A branch connecting the Manimala and Pampa rivers flows along the southern side of the temple.
The Anaprampal Sri Dharma Shasta Temple is situated on the right bank of this river. The temple gates open at 5:30 in the morning, with the gates of Lord Shiva and Lord Ganesha being opened first, followed by the Shasta gate at 5:30. Special pujas are conducted on the first Saturday of each month, and Ashtabhishekam is performed as an offering. Additionally, pounded Pizhinji payasam is presented to the Lord as a significant monthly offering to Utram. Rituals, including a full day of puja, are carried out, and offerings such as panchamrutam are made to Velayudha Swami, the sub-deity. Aeylya Puja is conducted for the serpents on Aeylyam during the month of Libra. The revered festival of elephant herders takes place in Makairam during the month of Makaram. A notable aspect of this celebration is the performance of festival sacrifices over a span of six days.
Sri Dharma Shasta bestows blessings upon the devotees who attend these sacrifices, aiding them in achieving their eternal desires. The festival features the ceremonial procession of elephants, known as Ezhunnallippu, along with a lamp ritual. The renown of Thiruvutsavam, once celebrated throughout Thiruvithamkur, continues to endure. In addition, the ‘Sapthaham’ festival is conducted annually in the month of Karkitaka. Every devotee visiting this site is afforded the opportunity to witness the complete darshan of the Shiva family. According to legend, the resting place of Ayyappan, who arrived with an army of elephants after conquering the Vavars, eventually transformed into the elephant sanctuary. Anaprampal Temple, as its name implies, is well-known for its association with elephants, attracting visitors from distant lands seeking to cure the ailments of these majestic creatures.
ആനപ്രമ്പാൽ ശ്രീ ധർമ്മശാസ്താ ക്ഷേത്രം
ആലപ്പുഴ ജില്ലയിലെ എടത്ത്വായിൽ നിന്ന് രണ്ടര കിലോമീറ്റർ കിഴക്കുമാറി സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന ആനപ്രമ്പാൽ ഗ്രാമത്തിലെ ആനപ്രമ്പാൽ ശ്രീ ധർമ്മശാസ്താ ക്ഷേത്രം ചരിത്രപരമായ ഒരു പ്രധാന കേന്ദ്രമാണ്. വാവരെ കീഴ്പ്പെടുത്തിയ ശേഷം ആനപ്പടയുമായി വന്ന അയ്യപ്പൻ വിശ്രമിച്ച സ്ഥലമായ ‘ആനപറമ്പായി’ എന്ന പേരിൽ അറിയപ്പെടുകയും പിന്നീട് ആനപ്രമ്പാൽ എന്ന പേരിൽ പ്രശസ്തമായതും ഐതീഹ്യമാണ്. ആനപ്രമ്പാൽ ക്ഷേത്രം ആനകളുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട പ്രശസ്തി നേടിയിട്ടുള്ളതാണ്, ഇവിടെ ദൂരദേശങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നുമുള്ള ആളുകൾ ആനകളുടെ അസുഖം മാറാൻ എത്തുന്നു. ശ്രീധർമ്മശാസ്താവ്, ആയിരത്താണ്ടുകളായി ദേശനാഥനായി ആനപ്രമ്പാൽ വാഴുന്ന പഞ്ചഭൂതനാഥനാണ്.
ശ്രീപരശുരാമ ഭഗവാനാൽ സ്ഥാപിതമായ ചേരനാട്ടിലെ മഹാക്ഷേത്രം, പുരാണവും ചരിത്രവും ഉൾക്കൊള്ളുന്ന ചെമ്പകശ്ശേരി നാടുവാഴികളുടെ ആരാധനാമൂർത്തിയായിരുന്നു. അന്നദാനപ്രഭുവും, അപേക്ഷിച്ചാൽ ഉപേക്ഷിക്കാത്ത ആശ്രിതവത്സലനുമായ ഭഗവാൻ, ദേശത്തെ സംരക്ഷിക്കുന്നു. പത്നീപുത്രസമേതനായി മദഗജത്തിൽ ഏറിവരുന്ന ഭഗവത്സ്വരൂപം, കാലാകാലങ്ങളായി ദേശത്ത് ഐശ്വര്യവർഷം വിതരുന്നു. ശാസ്താ സങ്കല്പത്തിൽ മദ ഗജത്തിൽ ഉയർന്നിരിക്കുന്ന ഗൃഹസ്ഥനായ ഭഗവാനാണ് ഈ സ്ഥലത്തെ പ്രതിഷ്ഠ. വിഷ്ണുവും ശിവനും ചേർന്ന് രൂപം കൊണ്ട തേജസ് ആണ് ശാസ്താവ്. പ്രസന്ന വദനനായ ഭഗവാൻ പ്രഭ എന്ന ഭാര്യയോടും സത്യഗൻ എന്ന മകനോടും കൂടെ ഇവിടെ വാണരുളുന്നു. കൂടാതെ, അമൃത കുംഭം കൈലേന്തുന്നതിനാൽ ഭിഷഗ്വര ഭാവവും കൈവരുന്നു. ആന പ്രമ്പാൽ ദേശത്തിന്റെ ദേശ ദേവനായി ശ്രീ ധർമ്മ ശാസ്താവ് ഇവിടെ താമസിക്കുന്നു.
മണിമല ആറും പമ്പാ നദിയും ചേർന്ന് വരുന്ന ഒരു ശാഖ ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ തെക്കു ഭാഗത്തൂടെ ഒഴുകുന്നു. ആ നദിയുടെ വലത്തേ കരയിൽ ആനപ്രമ്പാൽ ശ്രീ ധർമ്മ ശാസ്താ ക്ഷേത്രം സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നു. രാവിലെ 5:30-ന് ക്ഷേത്ര നട തുറക്കുന്നു. തുടർന്ന് ഉപ ദേവതകളായ ശിവനും ഗണപതിയുടെയും നട തുറന്ന ശേഷം, അഞ്ചരയോടുകൂടിയാണ് ശാസ്താ നട തുറക്കുന്നത്. മാസത്തിലെ ആദ്യ ശനി ആഴ്ചയിൽ പ്രത്യേക പൂജകൾ നടത്തപ്പെടുന്നു. അഷ്ടാഭിഷേകം വഴിപാടായി നടത്തുന്നത് സാധാരണമാണ്. എല്ലാ മാസവും ഉത്രയ്ക്ക് മഹാ നിവേദ്യമായി ഇടിച്ചുപിഴിഞ്ഞ പായസവും ഭഗവാന്റെ നിവേദ്യം നടത്തപ്പെടുന്നു.
മുഴുവൻ ദിനം പൂജ ഉൾപ്പെടെയുള്ള വിവിധ പൂജാ കർമ്മങ്ങൾ നടത്തപ്പെടുന്നു. ഉപദേവനായ വേലായുധ സ്വാമിക്ക് പഞ്ചാമൃതം ഉൾപ്പെടെയുള്ള വഴിപാടുകൾ നൽകുന്നു. തുലാം മാസത്തിലെ ആയില്യത്തിന് ആയില്യ പൂജ സർപ്പത്താന്മാർക്കു നടത്തപ്പെടുന്നു. ആനപ്രമ്പാലുകാരുടെ തിരു ഉത്സവം മകരത്തിലെ മകയിരത്തിൽ കൊടിയേറുന്നു. ഈ ഉത്സവത്തിൽ 6 ദിവസത്തോളം ബലി നടത്തുന്നത് പ്രത്യേകതയാണ്. ഉത്സവ ബലി കാണുന്ന ഭക്തർക്ക് അവരുടെ ദീർഘകാല ആഗ്രഹങ്ങൾ പൂർത്തീകരിക്കാൻ ശ്രീ ധർമ്മശാസ്താവ് അനുഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നു. ബലി കഴിഞ്ഞ ശേഷം മഹാ പ്രസാദമൂട്ട് നടത്തപ്പെടുന്നു. 8 ദിവസം നീണ്ടു നിൽക്കുന്ന ഈ ഉത്സവം ഉത്രം നാളിൽ ആറാട്ടോടുകൂടെ കൊടിയിറങ്ങും.
ഉത്സവ സമയത്ത് ആന എഴുന്നള്ളിപ്പും വിളക്ക് ആചാരവും നടത്തപ്പെടുന്നു. വിളക്കിന്റെ അഞ്ചാമത്തെ വലത്തിൽ പള്ളി വേട്ട നടത്തുന്നു. തിരുവിതാംകൂർ മുഴുവൻ അറിയപ്പെടുന്ന തുരുവുത്സവത്തിന്റെ പ്രശസ്തി ഇന്നും നിലനിൽക്കുന്നു. കൂടാതെ, എല്ലാ വർഷവും കർക്കിടക മാസത്തിൽ സപ്താഹവും നടത്താറുണ്ട്, സമ്പൂർണ ശിവ കുടുംബ ദർശനം പൂർത്തിയാക്കാൻ ഇവിടെ എത്തുന്ന ഓരോ ഭക്തർക്കും സാധ്യമാകുന്നു. അയ്യപ്പൻ വാവരെ കീഴ്പ്പെടുത്തിയ ശേഷം ആനപ്പടയുമായി എത്തിയ സ്ഥലത്തെ വിശ്രമം പിന്നീട് ആനപ്രമ്പലായി മാറിയെന്നു പറയപ്പെടുന്നു. ആനപ്രമ്പൽ ക്ഷേത്രം, അതിന്റെ പേരിന്റെ അനുസരിച്ച്, ആനകളുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട പ്രശസ്തിയാണ്. ഇവിടെ ദൂരദേശങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നുമുള്ള ആളുകൾ ആനകളുടെ രോഗം മാറാൻ എത്തുന്നു.
