Annavi Saraswathi Temple at Chandanakkavu is situated in the town of Alappuzha, Kerala. This temple is devoted to the worship of Goddess Saraswathi.
Goddess Saraswathi, revered as the deity of knowledge, arts, and music within the Hindu faith, is the central figure of this temple, which was historically referred to as Annavi Veedu Saraswathi Kshetram. According to historical accounts, the temple was established by the Saiva Vellalars, who migrated from Tamil Nadu in ancient times, specifically from Sankarankovil.
The murti of Goddess Saraswati was originally part of the Annavi family, known for their expertise in poojas, astrology, and Ayurveda. The family worshipped both Goddess Saraswati and Goddess Bhadra as their principal deities. Additionally, the temple honors several upa devatas, including Ganapathi, Shiva, Valkannadi, Karnavar, and Yakshi. The temple is particularly renowned for the Ezhuthiniruthu or Vidyarambham ceremony, which takes place on Vijayadashami, following the nine-day Navratri festival. Observances such as Ashtami, Pooja Vaippu, and Navami are also significant within the temple's traditions.
ചന്ദനക്കാവ് സരസ്വതി ക്ഷേത്രം
ആലപ്പുഴ ജില്ലയിൽ ജനറൽ ഹോസ്പിറ്റൽ ജംഗ്ഷനിൽ നിന്ന് ഏകദേശം ഒരു കിലോമീറ്റർ അകലെ സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന ചന്ദനക്കാവ് റോഡിലാണ് പ്രശസ്തമായ ചന്ദനക്കാവ് സരസ്വതി ക്ഷേത്രം സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നത്. ഹിന്ദുമതത്തിന്റെ പഠനവും കലകളും സംഗീതവും പ്രതിനിധീകരിക്കുന്ന ദേവതയായ സരസ്വതിയ്ക്കായാണ് ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം സമർപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്. മുമ്പ് അണ്ണാവിവീട് സരസ്വതി ക്ഷേത്രം എന്ന പേരിൽ അറിയപ്പെട്ടിരുന്ന ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം, പുരാതന കാലത്ത് തമിഴ്നാട്ടിൽ നിന്നെത്തിയ ശൈവ വെള്ളാളന്മാർ പണികഴിപ്പിച്ചതായി ചരിത്രം പറയുന്നു.
ശങ്കരൻകോവിലിൽ നിന്നാണ് ഇവർ ഇവിടെ എത്തിയത്. പൂജകൾ, ജ്യോതിഷം, ആയുർവേദം എന്നിവയിൽ പ്രശസ്തമായ അണ്ണാവി കുടുംബത്തിൽ പെട്ടവരായിരുന്നു ഇവർ. സരസ്വതിയും ഭദ്രയും അവരുടെ കുലദേവതകളായിരുന്നു. ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ ഉപദേവതകൾ ഗണപതി, ശിവൻ, വാൽക്കണ്ണാടി, പരദേശി, യക്ഷി എന്നിവരാണ്.വിജയദശമി ദിനത്തിൽ, ഒൻപത് ദിവസത്തെ നവരാത്രി ഉത്സവത്തിന് ശേഷം നടക്കുന്ന വിദ്യാരംഭത്തിന് ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം പ്രശസ്തമാണ്.
സമീപ പ്രദേശങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നുള്ള നിരവധി കുട്ടികൾ എഴുത്തിനിരുത്താൻ ഈ ക്ഷേത്രസന്നിധിയിൽ എത്തുന്നു. ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ അഷ്ടമി, പൂജവയ്പ്പ്, നവമി തുടങ്ങിയ പ്രത്യേക ദിവസങ്ങളും ആഘോഷിക്കുന്നു. വൃശ്ചികം ഒന്നിന് ആരംഭിക്കുന്ന 41 ദിവസത്തെ മണ്ഡലകാലം, തുലാമാസത്തിലെ നവരാത്രി, കുംഭത്തിലെ ശിവരാത്രി, ധനുമാസത്തിലെ തിരുവാതിര എന്നിവയാണ് ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ പ്രധാന ഉത്സവങ്ങൾ.
