Cheriyanad Sree Bala Subramanya Swamy temple is situated in Cheriyanad along the Mavelikkara – Chengannur road within the Alappuzha district of Kerala.
The temple is dedicated to Muruga and is revered in his youthful form, known as Bala Subramaniya. Historically, the temple was associated with eight illams, including Neduveli, Ezhunelal, Pulamuttathu, Vadukathil, and Muthedathu. It features a round sanctum sanctorum, referred to as vatta sreekovil. The darshan of Sree Bala Subramanya Swamy is oriented towards the east. The murti enshrined within the temple stands approximately 5 feet tall.
Additionally, the Upa Devatas honored in this temple include Parthasarathy, Shiva, Ganapathi, Bhadrakali, Rakshas, Nagayakshi, and Yogi. The annual 10-day festival at the temple commences on Uthram nakshatra during the month of Makaram (January – February) with the ceremonial flag hoisting known as kodiyettam.
The Kavadiyattam takes place on Thaipooyam within the same month. Thai Puyam is a prominent celebration observed at Cheriyanad Sree BalaSubrahmanya Temple on the day of Puyam in the Tamil month of Thai (corresponding to Makara month in the Malayalam calendar). This festival commemorates the birth of Lord Subramanya and his triumph over the demon Tarakasura. The festivities feature the lively ritual dance of Kavadiyattam, where devotees carry kavadis as offerings to the deity, demonstrating their profound devotion and respect.

ചെറിയനാട്, ആലപ്പുഴ ജില്ലയിൽ സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന ഒരു അതിപുരാതനവും പ്രശസ്തവുമായ ക്ഷേത്രമാണ് ചെറിയനാട്ടു ശ്രീ ബാലസുബ്രഹ്മണ്യസ്വാമി ക്ഷേത്രം. കോഴഞ്ചേരി - മാവേലിക്കര പാതയിൽ, ചെങ്ങന്നൂരിനും മാവേലിക്കരക്കും ഇടയിൽ, പ്രധാന പാതയിലുള്ള പടനിലം ജങ്ഷനിൽ റോഡിന്റെ പടിഞ്ഞാറ് ഭാഗത്ത് ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നു. ചേരമാൻ പെരുമാളിന്റെ കാലഘട്ടത്തിൽ സ്ഥാപിതമായ ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം, മഹാക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ എല്ലാ സവിശേഷതകളും ഉൾക്കൊള്ളുന്ന ഒരു ദിവ്യസ്ഥലമാണ്. ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ പ്രധാനമൂർത്തി സുബ്രഹ്മണ്യനാണ്. ഹരിപ്പാട്ടിന്റെ ശൈലിയിൽ ചെമ്പുമേഞ്ഞ വട്ടശ്രീകോവിൽ കിഴക്കോട്ട് ദർശനമായാണ് സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നത്.
ഇവിടെ നിത്യേന അഞ്ചുപൂജകളും മൂന്നുശീവേലികളുമുണ്ട്. ശിവൻ, ഗണപതി, അയ്യപ്പൻ, ഭദ്രകാളി, ശ്രീകൃഷ്ണൻ, ബ്രഹ്മരക്ഷസ്സ്, യോഗീശ്വരൻ, നാഗങ്ങൾ, യക്ഷിയമ്മ എന്നിവരാണ് ഉപപ്രതിഷ്ഠകൾ. വ്യവസ്ഥാപിതമായ പുനഃരുദ്ധാരണവും പുനഃപ്രതിഷ്ഠയും നടപ്പിലാക്കുന്നതിനായി നടത്തിയ സപ്താഹയജ്ഞത്തിന്റെ സമാപനദിവസത്തിൽ നടന്ന അന്നദാനത്തിന്റെ തുടർച്ചയായി, ഓരോ വർഷവും ഇടവ മാസത്തിൽ സപ്താഹയജ്ഞവും അന്നദാനസദ്യയും നടത്തപ്പെടുന്നു. പ്രധാന ആഘോഷങ്ങൾ : പുറപ്പാട്, സ്കന്ദ ഷഷ്ഠി, തൈപ്പൂയ കാവടിയാട്ടം, ശിവരാത്രി, വിഷു ഉരുളിച്ച, പ്രതിഷ്ഠാ വാർഷികം, നിറപുത്തരി, ശ്രീകൃഷ്ണ ജയന്തി, വിനായക ചതുർഥി.
