Chunakkara Thiruvairoor Mahadevar Temple is situated 2.5 kilometers from Charummoodu along the Kayamkulam – Punalur road in the Alappuzha district of Kerala.
The principal deity of Chunakara Amabalam is Shiva, who is considered swayambhu. This deity is oriented towards the east. Positioned behind the sreekovil is a swayambhu Nandi, while an additional Nandi murti is located within the mandapam. The Upa Devatas worshipped in the temple include Mahavishnu, Subrahmaniyan, Dharmasastha, Ittilayappan, and Bhagavathi.
On the southern side of the Nalambalam, one can find the murti of Yogeshwaran. It is believed that all the Upa Devatas are also swayambhu. The temple is renowned for its exquisite wooden sculptures. The circular sreekovil, constructed from granite, features wooden walls adorned with intricate carvings. In front of the temple, there are dwarapalaka murtis. Among the significant sculptures within the temple are representations of four-armed Ganapathy, Saraswati, Shiva Thandavam, Goddess Kali, Uma Maheshwara, Sastha in a hunting stance, yakshi, Gopika vastraharan, Venugopala Krishnan, Sita beneath the shimshapavriksha, Ravana Prathapam, Sethubandhanam, Viraraman, Krishna Leela, Mahavishnu, Lakshminarayanan, Ananthashayanam, Durga, Aghora Shiva, and Govardhana Krishnan.
The annual 9-day festival at the temple commences on the day of Thiruvathira Nakshatra in the month of Makaram. This celebration is particularly renowned for the Kettukazhcha event. Additionally, the temple observes Ashtami during the month of Kumbham, and another significant festival celebrated is Shivaratri.
തിരുവൈരൂർ മഹാദേവ ക്ഷേത്രം

മാവേലിക്കരയും നൂറനാട്ടും തമ്മിലുള്ള ചുനക്കര പ്രദേശമാണ് ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ സ്ഥാനം. 1400 വർഷം പഴക്കമുള്ള ദാരുശില്പങ്ങൾ ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ പ്രത്യേകതയാണ്. ശ്രീകോവിലിന് മുന്നിൽ ഉള്ള ഭീമാകാര ദ്വാരപാലകന്മാർ, സമീപത്തുള്ള മഹാലക്ഷ്മിയുടെ രൂപം എന്നിവ ശില്പകലയുടെ അതിശയകരമായ ഉദാഹരണങ്ങളാണ്. ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ പ്രധാന ആഘോഷം മഹാ ശിവരാത്രിയാണ്, കൂടാതെ 9 ദിവസത്തെ തിരുവുത്സവം മീനമാസത്തിൽ നടത്തപ്പെടുന്നു. കൊടിയേറ്റോടെ ആരംഭിക്കുന്ന ഈ ഉത്സവം, തിരു ആറാട്ടോടെ സമാപിക്കുന്നു.
