Koottuveli Sree Durga Temple, located in SN Puram, Cherthala in the Alappuzha District of Kerala, India, is one of the ancient and revered temples in South India. This temple, dedicated to Goddess Durga, holds a special place in the hearts of devotees and is particularly renowned for its annual festival, celebrated during the Malayalam month of Kumbham (February-March).
During the festival, the entire surrounding area comes alive with vibrant celebrations, and the streets near the temple are adorned in grand, festive decorations. Additional offerings include Uma Maheshwara Puja (a ritual dedicated to Lord Shiva and Parvati for marital harmony), Karukahom (a ritual for the health of children), Back Lamp (a unique lamp offering), Koovalamala (a garland made of the holy bilva leaves), Erik Mala, and Shatakalasha and Sahasrakalasha Poojas (special ablutions with 100 or 1,000 pots of sacred water).
