Mattam Sri Mahadeva Temple is a renowned and historic temple situated in Thattarambalam, Anjilipra, within the Mavelikara region of the Alappuzha district. It is dedicated to Lord Mahadeva.
Ashwati Mahotsav, celebrated during the Kumbh month, is renowned for its significance. The festival spans a duration of 15 days, commencing with the kodiyettu ceremony, which is conducted by the Karakkar for the initial 14 days. The culmination of the festival occurs on the 15th day, designated as Ashwati Mahotsav.
This occasion features a variety of vibrant programs, including dramas, processions, thalapoli, and ezhunnallip. Devotees from across the nation gather in large numbers at the temple to witness the festivities and seek the blessings of Mahadev. Among the various sub-god shrines, the Appupan shrine holds particular importance.
മറ്റം മഹാദേവ ക്ഷേത്രം
ആലപ്പുഴ ജില്ലയിൽ മാവേലിക്കരയിലെ ആഞ്ഞിലിപ്രയിൽ സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന മറ്റം ശ്രീ മഹാദേവ ക്ഷേത്രം ഒരു പ്രശസ്തവും പുരാതനവുമായ ക്ഷേത്രമാണ്. മാവേലിക്കരയിൽനിന്ന് 3.8 കിലോമീറ്റർ അകലെയാണ് ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം. ഉപദേവന്മാരുടെ പ്രതിഷ്ഠകളിൽ അപ്പൂപ്പൻ പ്രതിഷ്ഠയ്ക്ക് പ്രത്യേക പ്രാധാന്യമുണ്ട്. കുംഭമാസത്തിലെ അശ്വതി മഹോത്സവം വളരെ പ്രശസ്തമാണ്, ഇത് 15 ദിവസങ്ങളോളം ആഘോഷിക്കുന്നു. കൊടിയേറ്റോടെ ആരംഭിക്കുന്ന ഈ ഉത്സവം ആദ്യ 14 ദിവസവും കരക്കാരുടെ നേതൃത്വത്തിലാണ് നടത്തുന്നത്.
15-ാം ദിവസമാണ് അശ്വതി മഹോത്സവമായി ആഘോഷിക്കുന്നത്. കരക്കാർ നടത്തുന്ന കലാപരിപാടികളിൽ നാടകങ്ങൾ, ഘോഷയാത്രകൾ, താലപ്പൊലി, എഴുന്നള്ളിപ്പ് തുടങ്ങിയ വിവിധ ആകർഷകമായ പരിപാടികൾ ഉൾപ്പെടുന്നു. മഹാദേവന്റെ അനുഗ്രഹം ഏറ്റുവാങ്ങാനും കാണാനുമുള്ള ആകർഷണമായി, നാടിന്റെ വിവിധ ഭാഗങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നുള്ള പതിനായിരക്കണക്കിന് ആളുകൾ ക്ഷേത്രസന്നിധിയിൽ എത്തുന്നു.
