Mavelikara Sri Marutakshi Devi Temple is a historic shrine situated 1.7 kilometers from Mavelikara in the Alappuzha district.
The temple dedicated to the goddess in Mavelikara is the abode of Sri Maruthakshiamma, the protector of the Onnat region and the ever-present benefactor. The principal deity worshipped here is Sri Bhadrakali, accompanied by the divine figures of Shri Parameswaran, Ganesha, and the Nagas. The Ashwati Mahotsav is celebrated during the month of Kumbham at this temple.
The Ashwathimahotsavam is organized collaboratively by the communities of Mavelikara, Kottarkavu, Manakkad, Umbarnad West, Umbarnad East, Puthikav, and Puthikav Vadakk karayongams. Mavelikara Sri Marutakshi Devi Temple is also known for a variety of other religious observances, including Parayetuppu, Kettukazhcha, tholpavakoothu, kuthyatta chuvadum Paattum, padayani, Ethirelppu, and numerous vibrant cultural performances associated with the temple festival. The spiritual ambiance of the temple draws many devotees, with a significant number of female worshippers participating in the Pongala celebration linked to the festival.
