Mavelikara Sree Krishna Swamy Temple is situated in Mavelikara, within the Alappuzha district. The principal deity worshipped at this temple is Lord Sree Krishna, depicted with both hands extended in a gesture signifying a request for butter.
Centuries ago, this temple was owned by the Idaserry Family. At the eastern entrance, adorned with exquisite architecture, flint guards stand vigilant. The vakacharthu of the Sri Guruvayur Sri Krishna Swami Temple is notably renowned.
Among the temples managed by the Travancore Devaswam, the Sri Krishna Swami Temple in Mavelikara is unique in hosting the vakacharthu ceremony. The tradition of parading Lord Krishna on the Garuda Vahana is exclusively observed at the temples of Aranmula and Mavelikara. To the north of the temple, along the east-west axis, lies a banquet hall that can accommodate up to a thousand guests.
This banquet hall was designed to accommodate the Brahmin scholars who traveled on foot to the Sri Padmanabhaswami Temple to participate in the Murajapam ritual, providing them with a place to eat and rest. To the north of the banquet hall, on the eastern side, there existed a remarkably beautiful garden. Historically, the flowers from this garden were more than adequate to meet the needs of all the temples under the Mavelikara Devaswam, and it was referred to as the Garden of God. Unnikrishnan, the temple's elephant, is regarded as one of the most magnificent elephants among the temples of Travancore.
The Srimath Bhagavatha Yajnam has been held at the temple for thirty-four years. A devoted servant of the Idaserry Family, while clearing the land, discovered an idol. This idol began to bleed upon being struck and was subsequently presented to the Idaserry Family. Astrological analysis confirmed that the statue represented Lord Krishna in the act of taking butter, necessitating its installation in a properly built temple.
With assistance from the king of Matathinkore, a small temple was erected, and a temporary installation was performed by Kulakkada Nampimatthham Pandaram, a specialist in tantric rituals. The temple hosts a festival that spans ten days each year. The primary offering during this celebration is the Dasavatharacharthu. Additionally, the Thrikkay Vennayootu and the Garuda Vahana Parade are significant offerings associated with the temple.

ആലപ്പുഴ ജില്ലയിലെ മാവേലിക്കര ശ്രീകൃഷ്ണസ്വാമി ക്ഷേത്രം ചരിത്രപരമായും സവിശേഷതകളാൽ സമ്പന്നമായ ഒരു ക്ഷേത്രമാണ്. അച്ചൻകോവിലാറിന്റെ തെക്കൻ തീരത്ത് സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ, ശ്രീകൃഷ്ണന്റെ പ്രതിഷ്ഠകളിൽ അപൂർവമായ നവനീതകൃഷ്ണ പ്രതിഷ്ഠ കാണപ്പെടുന്നു. വെണ്ണയ്ക്കായി ഇരുകൈകളും നീട്ടി നിൽക്കുന്ന ചതുർബാഹുവായ ഉണ്ണിക്കൃഷ്ണന്റെ വിഗ്രഹം സന്ദർശകരുടെ ഹൃദയങ്ങൾ കീഴടക്കുന്നു. ഗുരുവായൂരപ്പനെപ്പോലെ, മാവേലിക്കര ശ്രീകൃഷ്ണസ്വാമിയും ആശ്രിത വത്സലനമാണ്.
ഗരുഡവാഹനത്തിൽ എഴുന്നേൽക്കുന്ന കൃഷ്ണൻ ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ പ്രത്യേകതയാണ്. കേരളത്തിലെ മറ്റ് ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളിൽ ഈ ഭാവത്തിൽ ഭഗവാൻ എത്തുന്നത് അപൂർവമാണ്. ഉത്സവകാലത്ത് വാകച്ചാർത്ത് നടക്കുന്ന ഏക ക്ഷേത്രവുമാണിത്, ഒൻപതാം ഉത്സവ നാളിലാണ് വാകച്ചാർത്ത് ആഘോഷങ്ങൾ നടത്തുന്നത്. കണ്ടിയൂർ മഹാദേവക്ഷേത്രവും ചെട്ടിക്കുളങ്ങര ഭഗവതിയും ഈ പ്രദേശത്തിന്റെ ദേവതകളാണ്. നിത്യമായി ത്രികാല പൂജയുള്ള ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ ഗണപതി, ശിവൻ, നവഗ്രഹങ്ങൾ എന്നിവ ഉപദേവതകളായി ആരാധിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു. പ്രധാന വഴിപാടുകൾക്കായി കദളിക്കുല സമർപ്പണം, മുഴുക്കാപ്പ്, തൃക്കൈവെണ്ണ, പന്തിരുന്നാഴി അപ്പം, പാൽപായസം എന്നിവ ഉൾപ്പെടുന്നു.
കൂടാതെ, വർഷത്തിൽ ഒരിക്കൽ മഹാവിഷ്ണുവിന്റെ പത്ത് അവതാര രൂപങ്ങൾ ചന്ദനം കൊണ്ട് ചാർത്തുന്ന ദശാവതാരച്ചാർത്തും നടത്തപ്പെടുന്നു. ഉപദേവതകൾക്കായി ഗണപതി ഹോമം, മോദകം നിവേദ്യം, നവഗ്രഹ പൂജ എന്നിവയാണ് പ്രധാനമായ വഴിപാടുകൾ.
മീനമാസത്തിലെ തിരുവോണം ആറാട്ട് നാളിൽ ക്ഷേത്ര ഉത്സവം കൊടിയേറുന്നു. ഈ ഉത്സവം പത്ത് ദിവസങ്ങളോളം നീണ്ടുനിൽക്കുന്നു. അമ്പലപ്പുഴ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലും ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലും ഒരേ സമയം ഉത്സവം നടക്കുന്നു. ഉത്സവ സമയത്ത് തൃക്കൈ വെണ്ണയൂട്ട്, ദശാവതാര ചാർത്ത്, ഗരുഡവാഹനത്തിൽ എഴുന്നുള്ളത്ത് എന്നിവ പ്രത്യേകമായ ആകർഷണങ്ങളാണ്. ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ ആറാട്ട് ഒരു കിലോമീറ്റർ വടക്കുള്ള അച്ചൻ കോവിലാറിന്റെ മണ്ഡപത്തിലും കടവിലുമാണ്.
