Sri Pullampada Devi Temple is among the oldest temples managed by the Travancore Devaswom Board, situated in the village of Pallipad within the Karthikapalli taluk of the Alappuzha district.
Sri Pullampada Devi, the revered deity residing in Pullampada, continuously bestows prosperity and blessings upon the nation and its people. She extends her blessings towards the west. The Ashwati Mahotsav at the temple takes place during the month of Meenam. Numerous women devotees travel from various regions of the country to present the Kalamkari offering to the Goddess in celebration of the festival, seeking her divine blessings.
Kalamkari, an Ata Nivedya, involves washing and drying raw rice, which is then ground in a mortar and kneaded with water from the temple well, without the addition of salt or sugar. This mixture is spread on a ‘Parutthileaf’ or ‘Vattaleaf’ and cooked in a vessel located within the temple grounds. The Kalamkari offering serves as the principal offering to the Goddess. On the occasion of Navratri, the rituals of Devibhagavatam, Navahayagna, and Ezhuthiniruth are conducted. Throughout the days of Navratri, the temple witnesses an extraordinary influx of devotees.
During the Ashwati Mahotsavam, which occurs in the month of Meenam, various ceremonial activities such as Kuthira Ezhunnallip, Kettukazhanavarav, Aravilak Varav, Jivitha Ezhunnallathu, Anpoli, Kalamezhuthum Pattum are performed with great reverence and precision. These festivals serve as a vibrant celebration of the energy, spirit, and unity of the local community, each providing a captivating insight into the region's cultural heritage. The festivities are marked by lively processions, adorned elephants, fireworks, fairs, kavadi, thalapoli, patayani, and Annadanam, along with artistic gatherings that showcase local talent, all contributing to a festive atmosphere. Participants engage in a myriad of spiritual, traditional, cultural, and diverse experiences throughout these celebrations.
ശ്രീ പുല്ലമ്പട ദേവീ ക്ഷേത്രം
ആലപ്പുഴ ജില്ലയിൽ കാർത്തികപ്പള്ളി താലൂക്കിൽ സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന ശ്രീ പുല്ലമ്പട ദേവീക്ഷേത്രം, തിരുവിതാംകൂർ ദേവസ്വം ബോർഡിന്റെ കീഴിലുള്ള ഒരു അതിപുരാതന ക്ഷേത്രമാണ്. ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം നാടിനും ജനങ്ങൾക്കും എക്കാലത്തെയും ഐശ്വര്യവും അനുഗ്രഹവും നൽകുന്ന പരദേവതയായ ശ്രീ പുല്ലമ്പട ദേവിയെ ആരാധിക്കുന്നു, പടിഞ്ഞാറ് ദർശനമായി അനുഗ്രഹം നൽകുന്നു. മീനമാസത്തിൽ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ അശ്വതി മഹോത്സവം ആഘോഷിക്കുന്നു.
മഹോത്സവത്തോടനുബന്ധിച്ച്, നാടിന്റെ വിവിധ ഭാഗങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നുള്ള അനേകം സ്ത്രീ ഭക്തർ കലംകരി വഴിപാടുകൾ സമർപ്പിച്ച് ദേവിയുടെ അനുഗ്രഹം നേടാൻ എത്തുന്നു. പച്ചരി കഴുകി ഉണക്കി, ഉരലിൽ പൊടിച്ച്, ക്ഷേത്ര കിണറ്റിലെ വെള്ളത്തിൽ ഉപ്പും മധുരവും ചേർക്കാതെ കുഴച്ച്, പരുത്തിയിലയിൽ പരത്തി, ക്ഷേത്ര പരിസരത്ത് അടുപ്പു കൂട്ടി വേവിച്ചെടുക്കുന്ന അട നേദ്യമാണിത്. ദേവിക്ക് സമർപ്പിക്കുന്ന പ്രധാന വഴിപാടാണ് കലംകരി വഴിപാട്. ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ മീനമാസത്തിലെ അശ്വതി മഹോത്സവം ഏറെ പ്രശസ്തമാണ്.
നാടിന്റെ വിവിധ ഭാഗങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നുള്ള ഭക്തർ ഈ മഹോത്സവത്തിൽ പങ്കുചേർന്ന് ദേവിയുടെ അനുഗ്രഹം നേടാൻ എത്തിച്ചേരുന്നു. ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ താന്ത്രിക ചുമതല കുണ്ടിൽ മല്ലിശ്ശേരിമന ബ്രഹ്മശ്രീ കൃഷ്ണൻ നമ്പൂതിരിക്കാണ്. നവരാത്രിയോടനുബന്ധിച്ച് ദേവീഭാഗവത നവാഹയജ്ഞവും എഴുത്തിനിരുത്തൽ ചടങ്ങുകളും നടത്തപ്പെടുന്നു. നവരാത്രി ദിനങ്ങളിൽ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ അഭൂതപൂർവ്വമായ ഭക്തജന പ്രവാഹം കാണപ്പെടുന്നു. ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ വിദ്യാരംഭ ചടങ്ങുകൾക്ക് മേൽശാന്തി ശ്രീകാന്ത് നമ്പൂതിരിയാണ് നേതൃത്വം നൽകുന്നത്.
മീനമാസത്തിലെ അശ്വതി മഹോത്സവത്തോടനുബന്ധിച്ച് കുതിരയെഴുന്നള്ളിപ്പ്, കെട്ടുകാഴ്ചവരവ്, അറവിളക്ക് വരവ്, ജീവിത എഴുന്നള്ളത്ത്, അൻപൊലി, കളമെഴുത്തും പാട്ടും എന്നിവ ഭക്തിപൂർവ്വമായി നടത്തപ്പെടുന്നു.
ഉത്സവങ്ങൾ തദ്ദേശീയരുടെ ഊർജ്ജസ്വലതയും ചൈതന്യവും ഐക്യത്തിലേക്കുള്ള ആഘോഷങ്ങളാണ്. ഓരോ ഉത്സവവും പ്രദേശത്തിന്റെ സംസ്കാരത്തെ പ്രതിഫലിപ്പിക്കുന്ന ആഹ്ളാദകരമായ കാഴ്ചകളാണ് നൽകുന്നത്. ഉജ്ജ്വലമായ ഘോഷയാത്രകൾ, ആനയെഴുന്നെള്ളിപ്പുകൾ, വെടിക്കെട്ടുകൾ, മേളകൾ, കാവടികൾ, താലപ്പൊലികൾ, പടയണികൾ, അന്നദാനങ്ങൾ, പ്രതിഭകൾ നിറഞ്ഞ കലാസംഗമങ്ങൾ, ആഹ്ളാദകരമായ അന്തരീക്ഷം എല്ലാം ചേർന്ന് ആവേശം വർദ്ധിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.
