Ramapuram Devi temple is situated in Ramapuram along the Haripad-Kayamkulam road within the Alappuzha district of Kerala.
The Ramapuram Devi Temple is dedicated to the deities Goddess Bhadrakali and Goddess Bhuvaneshwari. The idol of Bhadrakali is oriented to the north, while that of Bhuvaneshwari faces east. Sree Bhuvaneshwari, also known as Sree Parvathi, represents the goddess of eightfold prosperity and is positioned in sanctity, facing east, upon the Sreechakra. In contrast, Sree Bhadrakali, who embodies boundless power and serves as the destroyer of malevolence and protector of the virtuous, is enshrined facing north, radiating her glory.
Ramapurathamma, identified with Sree Bhuvaneshwari, is revered as the deity of the Odanadu Kingdom (associated with the Kayamkulam rulers). Following the theft of the Sreechakra, which was sanctified in the sanctum of Ramapurathamma, the Trippappur king Marthandavarma and his chief, Ramayyan, successfully conquered Kayamkulam. The absence of the revered Sreechakra left them vulnerable, facilitating Marthanda Varma's rise to dominance over the Kayamkulam dynasty. The primary offering to Goddess Bhadrakali consists of Kadum-payasam, while the offering to Bhuvaneshwari Bhagavathy is Kootu-payasam.
The temple's eight-day annual festival concludes on Meena Bharani, which corresponds to the Bharani nakshatra in the month of Meenam. The sub-deities of the Ramapuram Devi Temple add to the temple's cultural and spiritual richness. Within the Nalambalam, Ganapathy (Lord Ganesha) is enshrined at the Kannimoola, seated near the sanctum of Bhuvaneshwari. Brahmarakshass is positioned outside the Nalambalam in the southwest. Nagaraja and Nagayakshi, the serpent deities, are enshrined in the Kavu on the temple's northwest.
Arukola Valiyachan, also known as Koyikkaleth Aadichaman of Ramapuram, was a commandant in the Kayamkulam ruler's army and is worshipped here. Yakshiamma, seated close to the Balakar shrine, was invoked at Nangiyarkulangara Varriom and brought to Ramapuram, where she is honored in her peaceful form. Shilpirakshass, the Thachan of Panachamood house who crafted the idol of Sree Bhadrakali, is seated a bit further north and worshipped. Balakar (or Palakar) is also present outside the Nalambalam in the southwest. One of the temple’s unique traditions is the Saraswathi Nada, which opens annually for three days during Navaratri: Durgashtami, Mahanavami, and Vijayadashami. During these days, the idol of Goddess Saraswathi is specially placed on the Pazhukka Mandapam, and poojas are performed, with numerous children participating in Poojaveppu. This period, celebrated as Navarathirippoja and Navaham, culminates on Vijayadashami, with visitors from surrounding villages coming to perform Aksharamkurikkal.

ആലപ്പുഴ ജില്ലയിൽ ഹരിപ്പാടിന്റെ തെക്കു ഭാഗത്തുള്ള ചേപ്പാടിന് പടിഞ്ഞാറായി സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന രാമപുരം ഗ്രാമത്തിൽ, നാഷണൽ ഹൈവേയ്ക്ക് സമീപം, മേജർ രാമപുരം ഭരണിക്കാവ് ദേവീക്ഷേത്രം സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നു. മാവേലിക്കരക്കടുത്തുള്ള മറ്റൊരു ഭരണിക്കാവ് ദേവി ക്ഷേത്രം ഉള്ളതിനാൽ, രാമപുരത്തെ ക്ഷേത്രം മേജർ രാമപുരം ഭരണിക്കാവ് ദേവി ക്ഷേത്രം എന്ന പേരിൽ അറിയപ്പെടുന്നു. കിഴക്കോട്ട് ഭിമുഖമായി ഭുവനേശ്വരിയും വടക്കോട്ട് ഭദ്രകാളിയും സമാന പ്രാധാന്യത്തോടെ നിലകൊള്ളുന്ന അപൂർവ്വ ക്ഷേത്രമാണ് രാമപുരം ദേവീ ക്ഷേത്രം.
താഴ്ന്ന മണ്ഡപവും പടിയില്ലാത്ത തറക്ക് സമമായ പ്രതിഷ്ഠയും ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ മഹത്വം വർദ്ധിപ്പിക്കുന്നു. തിരുവിതാംകൂർ ദേവസ്വം ബോർഡിന്റെ കീഴിലുള്ള പ്രധാന ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളിലൊന്നാണ് ഇത്. രാമപുരത്തമ്മ (ശ്രീഭുവനേശ്വരി) ഓടനാട് (കായംകുളം രാജ്യം) എന്നത് രാജ്യദേവതയായി പരിഗണിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു. രാമപുരത്തമ്മയുടെ ശ്രീകോവിലിൽ സ്ഥാപിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന ശ്രീചക്രം മോഷ്ടിച്ച ശേഷം, അന്നത്തെ തൃപ്പാപ്പൂർ രാജാവായ മാർത്താണ്ഡവർമ്മയും അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ തലവൻ [ദളവ] രാമയ്യൻകുളം കീഴടക്കുകയായിരുന്നു. ഏറ്റവും പവിത്രമായ ശ്രീചക്രത്തിന്റെ അഭാവം അവരെ അശക്തരാക്കുകയും, കായംകുളം രാജവംശത്തിന്റെ മേൽ ആധിപത്യം സ്ഥാപിക്കാൻ മാർത്താണ്ഡവർമ്മയ്ക്ക് അവസരം നൽകുകയും ചെയ്തു.
രാമപുരം ദേവീ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ ഉപദേവതകളുടെ സാന്നിധ്യം ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ ആചാരപരമായ സമൃദ്ധിയെ വർദ്ധിപ്പിക്കുന്നു. ഗണപതി, നാലമ്പലത്തിനുള്ളിലെ കന്നിമൂലസ്ഥാനത്ത് ഭുവനേശ്വരി ശ്രീകോവിലിന് സമീപം പ്രതിഷ്ഠിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു. ബ്രഹ്മരക്ഷസ്സ് നാലമ്പലത്തിന് പുറത്ത് തെക്കുപടിഞ്ഞാറായി ഇരിക്കുന്നു. നാഗരാജാവും നാഗയക്ഷിയും ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ വടക്കുപടിഞ്ഞാറായി കാവിനുള്ളിൽ പ്രതിഷ്ഠിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു. അറുകൊല വലിയച്ചൻ, കായംകുളം ഭരണാധികാരിയുടെ സൈന്യത്തിലെ അവസാനകാലത്തിലെ സൈന്യാധിപനായിരുന്ന കോയിക്കലേത്ത് ആദിച്ചമനാണ്.
യക്ഷിയമ്മ, ബാലകർ ശ്രീകോവിലിന് സമീപം ഇരിക്കുന്ന ശാന്തമായ യക്ഷിയായും ഭഗവതിമാരുടെ പറക്കെഴുന്നള്ളിപ്പിനോടനുബന്ധിച്ചുള്ള വാരിയത്ത് അടുക്കളയിൽ ഇറക്കിപ്പൂജ ചടങ്ങിനോട് അടുത്ത ബന്ധമുണ്ട്. ശിൽപിരക്ഷസ്സ്, ശ്രീഭദ്രകാളിയുടെ പ്രതിഷ്ഠ നിർവഹിച്ച പനച്ചമൂട് ഇല്ലത്തെ തച്ചനാണ്, അവരെ അല്പം വടക്കോട്ട് ഇരുത്തി പൂജിക്കുന്നു. നാലമ്പലത്തിന് പുറത്ത് തെക്കുപടിഞ്ഞാറായി ഒരു ബ്രഹ്മരക്ഷസ്സിന്റെ സാന്നിധ്യവും ഉണ്ട്. ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ പ്രത്യേകതയായ സരസ്വതി നട വർഷത്തിൽ മൂന്നു പ്രാവശ്യം, നവരാത്രിയുടെ ദുർഗാഷ്ടമി, മഹാനവമി, വിജയദശമി ദിവസങ്ങളിൽ തുറക്കുന്നു. ഈ ദിവസങ്ങളിൽ സരസ്വതി ദേവിയുടെ വിഗ്രഹം പഴുക്ക മണ്ഡപത്തിൽ പ്രതിഷ്ഠിച്ച് പൂജകൾ നടത്തുകയും, നിരവധി കുട്ടികൾ പൂജവെപ്പിന് പങ്കെടുക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.
