Sreenarayanapuram Subramanya Swami Temple is located in Venattukad Desam, close to Manimalayar, in the Kainakari region of the Alappuzha district. This temple is of significant historical importance.
Subramanya Swami, beloved guardian of the local people, stands here showering blessings on his devotees. In this region, known as the granary of Kerala, the deity is revered as the protector of Kuttanad, and devotees believe that he offers both physical and mental healing. The temple is known for the “Single Lime Offering” (Otta Naranga Vazhipadu), held every Tuesday, a day considered especially auspicious for Subramanya Swami, who is known in astrology as the deity of Mars.
This offering is popular for the fulfillment of wishes related to progeny, marital harmony, educational success, and career goals. Devotees make additional offerings of milk abhishekam and panchamritham for divine favor. This offering is done consecutively for six Tuesdays, where devotees circumambulate the deity six times, carrying a banana leaf with a lime, a single coin, and white flowers, which they then place in the sanctum sanctorum.
The first Tuesday offering is also made to Lord Ganapathy to remove any obstacles, and after six weeks, a garland of limes is offered to the deity. The grand Thaipooyam festival is celebrated in the month of Makaram, featuring kavadi processions and lamp-lighting ceremonies. In addition to Thaipooyam, the temple also celebrates Shashti every month, particularly Skanda Shashti in Thulam month, Ayilyam in Thulam, Kalamezhuthu and Pattum in Dhanu, Mandalakaalam, Thiruvonam in Chingam, Ashtami Rohini, Shivaratri in Kumbham, and Vinayaka Chaturthi in Chingam.
Skanda Shashti, a significant vow observed for Subramanya Swami, is celebrated for long life, wisdom, virtuous children, and child welfare. This vow is believed to remove malicious influences, protect against chronic illnesses, and bring relief from sorrow, including challenges with one’s spouse or children. Skanda Shashti is also observed for good progeny and favorable marital blessings.

ഭക്തർ ഭഗവാനെ അവരുടെ വലിയ സംരക്ഷകനും, ശാരീരിക-മാനസിക അസുഖങ്ങൾ മാറ്റുന്നവനുമെന്ന നിലയിൽ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നു. ചൊവ്വാഴ്ചകളിൽ നടത്തുന്ന ഒറ്റ നാരങ്ങാ വഴിപാട് ഏറെ പ്രശസ്തമാണ്. പാർവതീപരമേശ്വരന്റെ പുത്രനായ സുബ്രഹ്മണ്യ സ്വാമിക്ക് ഏറ്റവും പ്രധാനപ്പെട്ട ദിനം ചൊവ്വാഴ്ചയാണ്. ജ്യോതിശാസ്ത്രപ്രകാരം, ചൊവ്വയുടെ ദേവതയാണ് സുബ്രഹ്മണ്യ സ്വാമി. സന്താന ഭാഗ്യം, മംഗല്യ സിദ്ധി, പഠനമികവ്, ജോലി തുടങ്ങിയവയ്ക്കായി ഭക്തർ അദ്ദേഹത്തെ ആരാധിക്കുന്നു.

ആറ് ചൊവ്വാഴ്ച സമർപ്പിച്ചതിന് ശേഷം ഭഗവാനെ നാരങ്ങാമാല സമർപ്പിക്കാവുന്നതാണ്. മകരമാസത്തിലെ തൈപ്പൂയം വിപുലമായ രീതിയിൽ ആഘോഷിക്കുന്നു. ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലേക്ക് കാവടി ഘോഷയാത്രയും വിളക്കെഴുന്നെള്ളിപ്പും നടത്തപ്പെടുന്നു. ഇതിന് പുറമെ, എല്ലാ മാസങ്ങളിലും ഷഷ്ഠി, പ്രത്യേകിച്ച് തുലാമാസത്തിലെ സ്കന്ദഷഷ്ഠി, തുലാമാസത്തിലെ ആയില്യം, ധനുമാസത്തിൽ കളമെഴുത്തും പാട്ടും, മണ്ഡലകാലം, ചിങ്ങമാസത്തിലെ തിരുവോണം, അഷ്ടമിരോഹിണി, കുംഭമാസത്തിലെ ശിവരാത്രി, ചിങ്ങമാസത്തിലെ വിനായക ചതുർത്ഥി എന്നിവയും ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ ആഘോഷിക്കുന്നു. സ്കന്ദഷഷ്ഠി ഒരു അത്യന്തം പ്രധാനമായ വ്രതമാണ്.
