Thankekkad temple, dedicated to Lord Sree Dharmasastha, is situated amidst the picturesque backwaters of Vembanad Lake. It can be found along the Arookutty-Cherthala road, approximately 1 km east of Kombanamury Junction.
The main deity at this ancient temple is Lord Dharmasastha, worshipped as Annadhana Prabhu, depicted in a seated posture with the right leg bent over the left. His right hand holds a ball of rice, symbolizing generosity, while his left hand carries a poornakumbha, symbolizing abundance. Alongside him, Goddess Sivakamasundari, consecrated by the Kytharam family, is also worshipped.
Additional deities in the temple include Kannimoola Ganapathy, Yakshi, and Vellaam Bhagavathi. Currently, temple rituals are conducted by Sri T.S. Ananthan and Sri P. Raman Embran, under the guidance of the Annamanada Kaasāmkottu Illam Thanthri. The management of Thankekattu Devaswam rests with the senior member of the Thankekattu family, Bramasri P. Raman Embran, who oversees temple activities as the power of attorney holder, with inputs from Kaasāmkottu Mana’s Bramasri Narayanan Namboothiripad. The temple’s major festivals include the Panguni Uthram Aarattu, Mandalakala Poojas, and Navarathri celebrations, with special poojas on Saturdays. Devotees can offer Pushpanjali, Ellu Payasam, One Day Pooja, Sathisayam, Ganapathi Homam, and Astabhishekam with Sastha Preethi.
