Thazhakara Sree Subramanya Swami Temple Thekkekara Alappuzha

Sree Subramanya Swami Temple in Thazhakkara, dedicated to the deity “Shadadhara Parathishta” of Lord Murugan, boasts a rich historical legacy spanning over a millennium. In his human form, Lord Murugan is depicted holding a sheaf of paddy and a torch, symbolizing his blessings upon his followers.

The sheaf of paddy signifies his role as the guardian of prosperity. Revered as a formidable protector, the Lord is known for healing both physical and mental afflictions. He safeguards every aspect of his devotees' well-being, rendering even the formidable Navagrahas subdued by his benevolence. It is said that he reassured Naradan, stating, "Those who take refuge in Me shall have no fear and will lack nothing; my devoted followers will have no adversaries and will be free from ailments" .

The principal deity worshipped is Lord Subrahmanya (Murugan), accompanied by several upa devatas, including Lord Krishna, Shastha, Lord Shiva, Lord Ganesa, Devi, Yogeeswaran, Rakshas, Nagaraja, Nagayekshi, Mani nagas, and Karinagas. Each of these deities has its own temple and is honored with daily rituals. Naga Devathas are situated in the 'Sarpa Kavu,' which is located on the northwestern side of the main temple. These sacred groves serve as the dwelling place for various divine serpents, with the serpent deities being enshrined in 'Chitrakudas.'

The administration of the temple is managed by the Sree Subrahmanya Haindava Seva Samithi. The primary festival celebrated at this temple is Thaipooyam, which occurs during the Malayalam month of Makaram. Notable events include the morning ‘Kavady procession’ originating from the Kunnam Sreedharmmasasta temple and the evening ‘Bhasmakavadi’ from the Puthiyakavu Devi Temple, both of which are significant occasions for devotees. The procession is accompanied by the Mayooraratham.

The annual festival spans ten days, commencing with Parayeduppu, where offerings are received from devotees at their homes. The festivities officially begin with the raising of the temple flag on Karthika day and continue for ten days, featuring traditional rituals such as "Utsavabali, Pallivetta, and Aarattu." Additionally, a seven-day Bhagavathaparayana (Saptaham) is held during this festival period. Other Significant Observances A considerable number of devotees participate in the “Shashti Vrutha” each Malayalam month, with attendance increasing after every “shashti.”

Additionally, the poojas held on Ayilyam day during the month of Thulam and Chirappu in Vrischikam hold great significance. On Sreekrishna Jayanthi, the uriyadi ghoshayathra is organized from the Umamaheswara temple. During the Navarathri festival, the Sangrrtha - Nritha aradhan is performed. The temple also celebrates Nira puthari and Vinayaka Chathurthi.

തഴക്കര ശ്രീ സുബ്രഹ്മണ്യ സ്വാമി ക്ഷേത്രം

ആലപ്പുഴ ജില്ലയിൽ, പഴയ തിരുവിതാംകൂർ പ്രദേശത്തിന്റെ മധ്യഭാഗത്ത്, കേരളത്തിലെ മാവേലിക്കര താലൂക്കിൽ തഴക്കര ശ്രീ സുബ്രഹ്മണ്യ സ്വാമി ക്ഷേത്രം സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നു. ആയിരം വർഷത്തിലേറെ പഴക്കമുള്ള ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം, ആദ്യകാലത്ത് ഇടപ്പള്ളി എളങ്കൂർ സ്വരൂപത്തിന്റെ കീഴിൽ പ്രവർത്തിച്ചിരുന്നു. ഇവിടെ മുരുകന്റെ "ഷഡാധര പരതിഷ്ഠൻ" എന്ന രൂപത്തിൽ, ഒരു കൈയിൽ ദീപജ്യോതിയും മറുകൈയിൽ നെൽക്കതിരും പിടിച്ചുകൊണ്ട്, ഭക്തർക്ക് അനുഗ്രഹം നൽകുന്നു. നെൽക്കതിരേന്തുന്ന ഭഗവാനെ സമ്പത്തിന്റെ സംരക്ഷകനായി കാണുന്നു.

ഭഗവാൻ തന്റെ ഭക്തരുടെ വലിയ സംരക്ഷകനായും, ശാരീരികവും മാനസികവുമായ അസുഖങ്ങൾ മാറ്റുന്നവനുമാണ്. പ്രധാന പ്രതിഷ്ഠ സുബ്രഹ്മണ്യസ്വാമിയാണെങ്കിലും, അവനോടൊപ്പം ഉപദേവന്മാരും ഉണ്ട്: കൃഷ്ണൻ, ശാസ്താവ്, പരമശിവൻ, ഗണേശൻ, ദേവി, യോഗീശ്വരൻ, രക്ഷസ്, നാഗരാജാവ്, നാഗയക്ഷി, മണിനാഗങ്ങൾ, കരിനാഗങ്ങൾ എന്നിവയാണ് ഇവ. ഇവരിൽ ഓരോരുത്തർക്കും പ്രത്യേക ക്ഷേത്രവാസങ്ങളും നിത്യപൂജകളും നടത്തപ്പെടുന്നു. പ്രധാന ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ വടക്ക് പടിഞ്ഞാറ് ഭാഗത്ത് സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന സർപ്പ കാവിലാണ് നാഗദേവതകൾ താമസിക്കുന്നത്. ഈ കാടുകൾ പവിത്രമായതും, നിരവധി ദിവ്യ സർപ്പങ്ങളുടെ വാസസ്ഥലമായതും ആണ്.

ശ്രീ സുബ്രഹ്മണ്യ ഹൈന്ദവ സേവാ സമിതിയുടെ മേൽനോട്ടത്തിലാണ് ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ ഭരണക്രമം. മലയാളമാസമായ മകരത്തിൽ നടക്കുന്ന തൈപ്പൂയമാണ് ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ പ്രധാന ഉത്സവം. കുന്നം ശ്രീധർമ്മശാസ്താ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ നിന്ന് രാവിലെ 'കാവടി ഘോഷയാത്ര' ആരംഭിക്കുന്നു, വൈകീട്ട് പുതിയകാവ് ദേവീക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ നിന്നുള്ള ‘ഭസ്മക്കാവടി’യും ഭക്തരുടെ മംഗള ചടങ്ങുകളിൽ ഉൾപ്പെടുന്നു. ഘോഷയാത്രയെ പിന്തുടരുന്ന മയൂരരഥം ഉത്സവത്തിന്റെ ആകർഷണമാണ്. പത്ത് ദിവസത്തെ വാർഷിക ഉത്സവം ആഘോഷം കൊണ്ടാണ് ആരംഭിക്കുന്നത്. കാർത്തിക നാളിൽ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ കൊടി ഉയർത്തുന്നതോടെ ഉത്സവബലി, പള്ളിവേട്ട, ആറാട്ട് തുടങ്ങിയ എല്ലാ ആചാരങ്ങൾ 10 ദിവസം നീണ്ടുനിൽക്കും.

ഈ പത്ത് ദിവസത്തെ ഉത്സവത്തിൽ ഏഴ് ദിവസത്തെ ഭാഗവതപാരായണം (സപ്താഹം) നടത്തപ്പെടുന്നു. മലയാള മാസങ്ങളിൽ ധാരാളം ഭക്തർ "ഷഷ്ടി വൃതം" ആചരിക്കുന്ന പ്രധാന ദിവസങ്ങൾ ഉണ്ട്. ഓരോ "ഷഷ്ടി" കഴിഞ്ഞപ്പോഴേക്കും ഭക്തരുടെ എണ്ണം വർദ്ധിക്കുന്നു. തുലാം മാസത്തിലെ ആയില്യം നാളിൽ നടത്തുന്ന പൂജകൾ, കൂടാതെ വൃശ്ചികത്തിലെ ചിറപ്പ് എന്നിവയും ഏറെ പ്രധാനമാണ്. ശ്രീകൃഷ്ണ ജയന്തി ദിനത്തിൽ ഉമാമഹേശ്വര ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ നിന്ന് ഉറിയടി ഘോഷയാത്ര നടത്തപ്പെടുന്നു. നവരാത്രി ഉത്സവ സമയത്ത് സംഗൃതം - നൃത്ത ആരാധനയും നടത്തപ്പെടുന്നു. നിറ പുത്തരി, വിനായക ചതുർത്ഥി എന്നിവയും ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ ആഘോഷിക്കുന്നു.
