Thiru Iranikkulam Kalathil Mahadeva Temple is situated in Pallippuram along the Cherthala-Arukutti road, close to Pallichantha in the Alappuzha district. The principal deity revered at this temple is Uma Maheswaran, representing both Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva.
Uma is depicted seated on the lap of Lord Maheshwar. The principal deity of the temple is represented by Valkkannadi, an ancient traditional mirror from Kerala. The shrine is oriented towards the east. A distinctive aspect of this temple is the representation of Lord Shiva in the form of Valkkannadi, which is a rare idol in India. The temple also features sub-deities including Nanadurga, Ganapati, Nagaraja, and Nagayakshi. Offerings made for Lord Shiva are shared with Goddess Durga.
This temple is associated with the Cheruvalli Swarupam, whose headquarters are located in Airanikulam, Thrissur. The annual festival, lasting eight days, at the Mahadeva Temple in Pallipuram Thiruairanikulam Kalam, commences on the Uthratathi day of the month of Medam and concludes with the aarattu on the Thiruvathira Nakshatra day. At the conclusion of the festival, numerous devotees gather from various regions to partake in the Aarat at Kaitapuzha backwater, followed by the Athira darshan.
തിരുഐരാണിക്കുളം കളത്തിൽ മഹാദേവ ക്ഷേത്രം
ആലപ്പുഴ ജില്ലയിൽ ചേർത്തല - അരൂക്കുറ്റി റോഡിൽ പള്ളിച്ചന്തക്കു സമീപം പള്ളിപ്പുറത്ത് സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന പുരാതന ക്ഷേത്രമാണ് തിരു ഐരാണിക്കുളം കളത്തിൽ മഹാദേവക്ഷേത്രം. ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ പ്രധാന പ്രതിഷ്ഠ ഉമാ മഹേശ്വരനാണ്, അഥവാ പാർവ്വതിയും ശിവനും. മഹേശ്വരന്റെ മടിയിൽ ഇരിക്കുന്ന ഉമയാണ് ഈ പ്രതിഷ്ഠയുടെ ആശയം. ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ പ്രതിഷ്ഠ വെങ്കലത്തിൽ നിർമ്മിച്ച വാൽക്കണ്ണാടിയാണ്, ഇത് കേരളത്തിലെ പഴയ പരമ്പരാഗത കണ്ണാടിയാണെന്ന് പറയാം.
കിഴക്കോട്ട് ദർശനമായാണ് പ്രതിഷ്ഠ. വാൽക്കണ്ണാടിയിലുള്ള ശിവന്റെ പ്രതിഷ്ഠ അപൂർവ്വമാണെന്നത് ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ പ്രത്യേകതയാണ്. ഭാരതത്തിൽ തന്നെ അപൂർവ്വമായ വാൽക്കണ്ണാടി വിഗ്രഹരൂപത്തിലുള്ള ശിവപ്രതിഷ്ഠകളിൽ ഒന്നാണ് ഇത്. നനദുർഗ, ഗണപതി, നാഗരാജാവ്, നാഗയക്ഷി എന്നിവരാണ് ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ ഉപദേവതകൾ. ഇവിടെ ശിവനുവേണ്ടി തയ്യാറാക്കുന്ന നൈവേദ്യം ദുർഗ്ഗാദേവിയുമായി പങ്കുവയ്‌ക്കുന്നു. ചെറുവള്ളി സ്വരൂപത്തിന്റെ ഭാഗമായാണ് ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നത്. ചെറുവള്ളി സ്വരൂപത്തിന്റെ ആസ്ഥാനം തൃശ്ശൂരിലെ ഐരാണിക്കുളത്തിലാണ്.
പള്ളിപ്പുറം തിരുഐരാണിക്കുളം കളത്തിൽ മഹാദേവ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ 8 ദിവസത്തെ വാർഷിക ഉത്സവം മേടമാസത്തിലെ ഉത്രട്ടാതി നാളിൽ ആരംഭിച്ച്, തിരുവാതിര നക്ഷത്ര നാളിൽ ആറാട്ടോടെ സമാപിക്കുന്നു. ക്ഷേത്രോത്സവത്തിന്റെ സമാപനത്തോടനുബന്ധിച്ച് കൈതപ്പുഴ കായൽക്കടവിൽ നടക്കുന്ന ആറാട്ടിലും, തുടർന്ന് നടക്കുന്ന ആതിരദർശനത്തിലും പങ്കെടുക്കാൻ നാടിന്റെ വിവിധ ഭാഗങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നുള്ള അനേകം ഭക്തർ എത്തിച്ചേരുന്നു.
