തൃക്കുരട്ടി മഹാദേവ ക്ഷേത്രം
ആലപ്പുഴ ജില്ലയിൽ മാന്നാറിൽ സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന തൃക്കുരട്ടി മഹാദേവക്ഷേത്രം ഒരു പ്രശസ്തമായ മഹാക്ഷേത്രമാണ്. ഭൂതത്താന്മാർ നിർമ്മിച്ച മതിൽക്കെട്ടും, വിശാലമായ ക്ഷേത്ര മൈതാനവും, കേരളശൈലിയിലുള്ള ക്ഷേത്ര സമുച്ചയവും, ഈ മഹാക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ ആകൃതിയും ഭാവവും പ്രതിഫലിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.
പരശുരാമൻ സ്ഥാപിച്ച നൂറ്റെട്ടു ശിവക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളിൽ ഒന്നായാണ് ഇത് അറിയപ്പെടുന്നത്. തൃക്കുരട്ടിയിലെ മതിൽക്കെട്ട് ഒരു രാത്രി കൊണ്ട് ശിവഭൂതഗണങ്ങൾ നിർമ്മിച്ചതാണെന്ന് വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നു. ഇവിടെ ശിവൻ തപസ്വി ഭാവത്തിലാണ്, അതിനാൽ സ്ത്രീകൾക്ക് ക്ഷേത്രത്തിനകത്ത് പ്രവേശനം അനുവദിച്ചിരുന്നില്ല. മാന്ധാതാവ് നടത്തിയ യാഗത്തിൽ ഹോമാഗ്നിയിൽ പ്രത്യക്ഷപ്പെട്ട ശിവനെ ക്രോഷ്ടമഹർഷി ഇവിടെ പ്രതിഷ്ഠിച്ചു എന്നാണ് ഐതിഹ്യം.
ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ കൊടിമരം ഇല്ല. ഉപദേവതകളായി ഗണപതി, ദക്ഷിണാമൂർത്തി, മഹാവിഷ്ണു എന്നിവരുടെ പ്രതിമകൾ ഇവിടെ സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നു. വൃശ്ചികത്തിലെ അഷ്ടമി ദിനത്തിൽ കൊടിയേറി 10 ദിവസത്തെ ഉത്സവം ആഘോഷിക്കുന്നു. ആലുവയിലെ ശിവരാത്രി പോലെ, ഓടനാട്ടിലെ മാന്നാർ ശിവരാത്രി വളരെ പ്രശസ്തമാണ്. ഇവിടെ ശിവരാത്രിയും അന്നേദിഅവസത്തെ ശിവരാത്രി നൃത്തവും കാണാൻ നിരവധി ഭക്തർ എത്തിച്ചേരുന്നു.
മാന്നാർ കുരട്ടിക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ പടിഞ്ഞാറെ നട (പാർവ്വതി നട) ഒരു ദിവസം മാത്രമേ തുറക്കുകയുള്ളു, അതും പത്തു മിനിറ്റുകൾക്കുള്ളിൽ. ഈ ശിവരാത്രി നൃത്തം കാണാനും പാർവ്വതീദേവിയെ കാണാനും ആയിരക്കണക്കിന് ആളുകൾ ആ ദിവസം ഇവിടെ എത്തുന്നു. മഹാശിവരാത്രി ദിനത്തിൽ പത്തുദിവസം കലശാഭിഷേകം നടത്തുന്നു. ഓരോ ദിവസവും നൂറ്റൊന്നു കലശം വീതം പത്തു ദിവസങ്ങൾക്കായി കലശം ആടുന്നു. പൂജകൾ ശതകലശം, രുദ്രാഭിഷേകം, ചതുശ്ശതം, ക്ഷീരധാര, മൃത്യുഞ്ജയ ഹോമം എന്നിവയാണ്.
