Vadasserikavu Bhagavathy Temple, commonly referred to as Mundancavu Vadasseri Kavu Bhagavathy Temple, is situated in close proximity to Chengannur in the Pathanamthitta district of Kerala.
The shrine is dedicated to Goddess Bhagavathi. The annual Mundancavu Padayani festival spans eight days and concludes on the Bharani nakshatra day during Meena Masam (March – April). This temple is distinctive, setting itself apart from other temples in Kerala, featuring a chathura sreekovil. The exterior of the shrine is adorned with vibrant structures.
Additionally, there is a separate Subrahmanya temple located within the same compound. The temple's annual festival is renowned for its unique Padayani kolams, including the Bhadrakali kolam, which is a regular aspect of the celebration and is not typically performed in other Bhagavathy temples in the area. Several other Padayani kolams present in the temple are Kuthira, Bhairavi, Pisachu, Anthara Yakshi, Kaalan Kolam, Marutha, and Kanjiramla.
The festival concludes with the Mangala Bhairavi Kolam. Another significant aspect of Vadasserikavu Padayani is Thankaravaravu, which features a procession of folk arts and various effigies to the temple. Additionally, the shrine celebrates several other festivals in honor of Bhagavathi, including Thrikkarthika Navaratri.
വടശ്ശേരികാവ് ഭഗവതി ക്ഷേത്രം
ശ്രീ വടശ്ശേരിക്കാവ് ക്ഷേത്രം കേരളത്തിലെ പ്രശസ്തമായ ഭദ്രകാളി ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളിലൊന്നാണ്, ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം പടയണി മഹോത്സവത്തിന് പ്രസിദ്ധമാണ്. വടശ്ശേരിക്കാവ് പടയണി സെൻട്രൽ ട്രാവൻകൂറിൽ ആഘോഷിക്കുന്ന പ്രത്യക്ഷമായ പടയണികളിൽ ഒന്നാണ്, ഇതിന് ആകർഷകമായ വിവിധ കോലങ്ങളും ഉണ്ട്. എല്ലാ വർഷവും വിവിധയിനം കോലങ്ങൾ വടശ്ശേരിക്കാവിൽ അവതരിക്കുന്നു, ഇവിടെയുള്ള ഭദ്രകാളി കോലം മറ്റ് ദേവീക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളിൽ സാധാരണയായി കാണാറില്ല.
മീനം മാസത്തിലെ ഭാരണി നക്ഷത്രത്തിന് മുമ്പുള്ള എട്ടു ദിവസമാണ് ഈ ഉത്സവം ആഘോഷിക്കുന്നത്; നാലു ദിവസം ചെറിയ പടയണിയും നാലു ദിവസം വലിയ പടയണിയുമാണ്. ഭദ്രകാളി കോലത്തിന്റെ രൂപം ഭദ്രകാളി ദേവിയുടെ പ്രതിരൂപമായി വരയ്ക്കുന്നു. ഇവിടെ അവതരിപ്പിക്കുന്ന മറ്റു കോലങ്ങൾ അന്തര യക്ഷി, കുതിര, കാലൻ കോലം, ഭൈരവി, പിശാച്, മരുത എന്നിവയുമാണ്. ഗുരുതി ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ പ്രശസ്തവും പ്രധാനമായ ഭദ്രകാളിക്ക് അർപ്പിക്കപ്പെടുന്ന വഴിപാടാണ്. ശ്രീ സുബ്രഹ്മണ്യൻ ദേവനും ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ പ്രധാന സാന്നിധ്യമാണ്, എല്ലാ വർഷവും ആചരിക്കുന്ന തൈപ്പൂയം ഉത്സവം ശ്രീ സുബ്രഹ്മണ്യനോടുള്ള ഭക്തിയുടെ പ്രമാണമാണ്.
