In Alappuzha district, if you travel 2.9 kilometers north from Kalavoor Junction on the Alappuzha-Kochi National Highway and continue on the Valavanad-Kavungal road, you will reach the Lakshmi Narayana Temple.
Every significant temple is accompanied by a rich history that unveils the essence of its existence. This narrative elucidates the motivations behind its creation, and the Lekshmi Narayana Temple is no exception. In 2006, Sri Prakash Swami, the visionary and steward of the Lekshmi Narayana Temple, undertook the responsibility of its construction. Under his clear guidance and leadership, this temple now serves as a beacon of hope for thousands of individuals from various regions of the country.
Prakash Swami hails from Vadakal in the Alappuzha District. During his formative years, he was actively involved in spiritual practices alongside his father, who served as the president of the Vadakal SNDP subdivision. His daily visits to the Kalarkode Sri Mahadeva Temple further deepened his commitment to prayers and rituals. From 1972, Swami began to regularly visit prominent pilgrimage sites such as Guruvayoor, Pazhani, Kodungalloor, Thirupathy, and Mookambika, actively engaging others to join him on these journeys. His deep commitment to a devotional lifestyle propelled him to embark on a mission aimed at restoring the dignity of certain temples that had either been poorly managed or left abandoned.
Notably, he succeeded in revitalizing the Puthenkavu Temple, S L Puram Kambiyakathu Maha Vishnu Temple, and Kanichikulangara Kodumkulam Temple.
His significant contributions to society commenced with the establishment of the Lekshmi Narayana Temple committee, which positively impacted the lives of thousands. Through his divine gifts and special prayer events, many individuals experienced the fulfillment of their aspirations; those who had strayed from their paths found new beginnings and were delivered from various perils. Between the years 2000 and 2002, a collective of pandits and astrologers, including Sri Chellappan, Dr. KSP Namboothiri, and Sri Rajeev Jyothish, declared that the site where Swami initiated the Lekshmi Narayana Temple committee was inherently sacred.
They asserted that it served as a meeting place for deities in ancient times. It was recommended that a temple be established at this location to honor Durga Devi, Bhadra Kali, Sri Ganesh, Sree Shashtha, Sree Hanuman Swami, Sree Subramaniyan, and Sarppadaivam.
Consequently, the temple was constructed, and Sri Prakash Swami assumed the role of caretaker. Individuals from all religions and castes were welcomed to visit the temple. Many people experienced transformative changes in their lives after their encounters with Prakash Swami.
Regular prayers are conducted at the temple for those seeking marital harmony, employment, children, and other aspirations. Numerous satisfied devotees have received blessings from God, realizing their wishes. വളവനാട് ലക്ഷ്മി നാരായണ ക്ഷേത്രം, ഒരു ചുറ്റമ്പലത്തിനുള്ളിൽ ശ്രീ ദുർഗ്ഗാ ഭഗവതി, ശ്രീ ഭദ്രകാളി, പുറത്ത് നാഗദൈവങ്ങൾ, ശ്രീ സുബ്രഹ്മണ്യ സ്വാമി, ശ്രീ ശിവഭഗവാൻ, ശ്രീ മഹാവിഷ്ണു, ശ്രീ വിഗ്നേശ്വരൻ, ശ്രീ അയ്യപ്പൻ, ശ്രീ ആഞ്ജനേയ സ്വാമി എന്നിവരെ ഉൾക്കൊള്ളുന്നു.
1982 മുതൽ പ്രവർത്തനമാരംഭിച്ച ലക്ഷ്മി നാരായണ പ്രാർത്ഥന സമിതിയുടെ പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങൾ, എല്ലാ വ്യാഴാഴ്ചകളിലും വൈകുന്നേരം സംക്രമത്തിനും ചോറ്റാനിക്കരയ്ക്കും, മാസത്തിൽ പഴനി, ഗുരുവായൂർ, കൊടുങ്ങലൂർ, തൃപ്രയാറേക്കും, വർഷത്തിൽ രണ്ട് തവണ മൂകാംബിക, തിരുപ്പതിയിലേക്കും ഭക്തരെ കൊണ്ടുപോകുന്നു. എല്ലാ ദിവസവും വൈകുന്നേരം പ്രാർത്ഥനയും, അനേകം ആളുകൾക്കായി അന്നദാനവും നടത്തപ്പെടുന്നു.
എല്ലാ കാർത്തിക മാസങ്ങളിലും അഷ്ടദ്രവ്യ മഹാഗണപതി ഹോമം, ഭഗവതിസേവ, മഹാസുദർശനഹോമം എന്നിവ ബ്രഹ്മശ്രീ ചിത്രൻ നമ്പൂതിരിയുടെ നേതൃത്വത്തിൽ നടത്തപ്പെടുന്നു. വർഷത്തിലെ ചിങ്ങമാസത്തിലെ കാർത്തിക നാളിൽ വലിയ ജനസാന്നിധ്യത്തിൽ വിവിധ ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളിലെ മേൽശാന്തിമാരും താന്ത്രിമാരും ഇവിടെ പൂജകൾ നടത്തി. 17 വർഷങ്ങളായി കാർത്തികപൂജ മുടക്കാതെ നടത്തപ്പെട്ടു. 2000 മുതൽ 2006 വരെ ഈ സന്നിധിയിൽ ഏഴോളം ദേവപ്രശ്നങ്ങൾ നടന്നു. ഈ ദേവപ്രശ്നങ്ങളിൽ പ്രാർത്ഥനാമന്ദിരം ഉള്ള ഭവന സങ്കേതം ഉടൻ പൊളിച്ച്, ക്ഷേത്രം പണിതു ദേവി-ദേവന്മാരെ കുടിയിരുത്തണമെന്ന് നിർദ്ദേശിച്ചു. ഈ ഭൂമി പൂർവകാലത്ത് ദേവി-ദേവന്മാരുടെ സമ്മേളനഭൂമിയായിരുന്നു, അതിനാൽ ഇവിടെ പ്രാർത്ഥനാസങ്കേതമായി മാറിയതാണ്. അഷ്ടമംഗല പ്രശ്ന വിധി പ്രകാരം മേൽ പറഞ്ഞ ദേവചൈതന്യങ്ങളെ കുടിയിരുത്തി നിത്യപൂജയും ആരംഭിച്ചു.
110 ദിവസത്തിനുള്ളിൽ 5 ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളും സർപ്പക്ഷേത്രവും നിർമ്മിച്ചു. പിന്നീട് മഹാവിഷ്ണു ക്ഷേത്രം പണിതു.ലക്ഷ്മി നാരായണ ഭാവത്തിൽ ശംഖുചക്രഗദാ ഹസ്ത രൂപത്തിൽ പ്രത്യക്ഷമായിരിക്കുന്ന ഇവിടുത്തെ പ്രധാന വിഗ്രഹം ശ്രീ ദുർഗ്ഗാ ഭവതി ആണ്. വാൾ വലത്തുകൈയിൽ, ഇടത്തുകൈയിൽ ദാരികന്റെ ശിരസ്സുമായി നിൽക്കുന്ന ശ്രീ ഭദ്രകാളിയും ഇവിടെ സാന്നിധ്യമുണ്ട്. ലക്ഷ്മി നാരായണ ക്ഷേത്രം, ഭക്തരുടെ ദാരിദ്ര്യവും ദുഃഖങ്ങളും പരിഹരിച്ച്, മംഗല്യ തടസങ്ങൾ നീക്കുകയും, ഉത്തമമായ മാംഗല്യവും, സന്താനഭാഗ്യവും, തൊഴിൽ നഷ്ടപ്പെട്ടവർക്കു പ്രതാപം വീണ്ടെടുക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്ന ഒരു സങ്കേതമാണ്.
