Valiya Kalavoor Sree Krishna Swami Temple is situated in Pathirappally, Kalavoor, within the Alappuzha district of Kerala.
Sri Krishna Janmashtami, also known as Jayanti, is celebrated with a range of pujas and rituals at this Krishna temple. The festival, observed in Chingam (August-September), includes the Ashtami Rohini procession (Ghoshayathra), a grand feast, and a joyful gathering of children dressed as baby Krishna, Radha, and Krishna. Traditional festivities such as Uriyadi also take place. The temple is known for its exquisite vatta sreekovil (circular sanctum), kodimaram (flagpole or dwajasthambam), and namaskara mandapam. It also houses shrines dedicated to upa devatas.
The temple pond is well known in the region for its beautiful lotus and water lilies, and the temple grounds are shaded by massive trees, including banyans. Various Vaishnava pujas and rituals like abhishekam and special archanas are performed regularly, with Vishu, Ramayana Masam, and Thiruvonam being significant observances. Ekadashi holds special importance at this temple as well. The annual festival aligns with Makara Samkramana, commencing with kodiyettam (flag hoisting) and concluding with the arattu (holy bath of the deity).

ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ കുളം പ്രദേശത്തെ താമരക്കുളമെന്ന പേരിൽ അറിയപ്പെടുന്നു. ആൽമരങ്ങൾ ഉൾപ്പെടെയുള്ള നിരവധി മരങ്ങൾ ക്ഷേത്ര പരിസരത്ത് നിലനിൽക്കുന്നു. വൈഷ്ണവ പൂജകൾ, അഭിഷേകങ്ങൾ, അർച്ചനകൾ, വിഷു, രാമായണ മാസം, തിരുവോണ, മണ്ഡലക്കാലം എന്നിവയുൾപ്പെടെ എല്ലാ ആചാരങ്ങളും ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ ആചരിക്കുന്നു. ഏകാദശിക്ക് പ്രത്യേക പ്രാധാന്യമുണ്ട്. ശ്രീകൃഷ്ണ ജന്മാഷ്ടമി ഉത്സവം വിവിധ പൂജകളും അനുഷ്ഠാനങ്ങളും നടത്തപ്പെടുന്നു.
അഷ്ടമി രോഹിണി ഘോഷയാത്ര, സമൂഹസദ്യ, കുഞ്ഞു കൃഷ്ണന്മാരായി ചെയ്ത കൊച്ചുകുട്ടികൾ, രാധയുടെയും കൃഷ്ണൻറെയും വേഷം ധരിച്ച കുട്ടികളും, ആൺകുട്ടികളും, ഉറിയടിയും മറ്റ് ആഘോഷങ്ങളും ആഹ്ലാദകരമായി ആഘോഷിക്കുന്നു. ചിങ്ങമാസത്തിൽ (ഓഗസ്റ്റ്-സെപ്തംബർ) പ്രധാന ക്ഷേത്രോത്സവം നടക്കുന്നു. മകരസംക്രമണത്തോടൊപ്പം ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ വാർഷിക ഉത്സവം നടക്കുന്നു. കൊടിയേറ്റത്തോടെ ആരംഭിക്കുന്ന ഈ ഉത്സവം ആറാട്ടോടെ സമാപിക്കുന്നു. ആന, മേള, ഘോഷയാത്ര, കലാപരിപാടികൾ, വിവിധ കലാരൂപങ്ങൾ എന്നിവയാൽ വലിയ കലവൂർ ശ്രീകൃഷ്ണസ്വാമി ക്ഷേത്രോത്സവം പ്രശസ്തമാണ്.
