Aimury Mahadeva Temple is a renowned Shiva temple situated in Aimury, near Perumbavoor, in Ernakulam district.
Aimury Sri Mahadeva Temple is located along the Perumbavoor-Kodanad route and is considered one of the largest shrines in Kerala. The most striking feature of the temple is its massive Nandi statue, known as Brihat Nandi, symbolizing eternal waiting and devotion to Lord Shiva.
This centuries-old temple is managed by the Aymanam Devaswom Trust, with support from the local temple committee and devoted worshippers.
The temple is particularly known for the Mrityunjaya Homa and Mrityunjaya Pushpanjali, special rituals believed to provide relief from ailments and life-related hardships. Devotees seek blessings here to overcome birth defects and diseases. Aimury Mahadeva Temple is dedicated to Umamaheswaran, representing the divine union of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. Inside the temple walls, Lord Ganapati is enshrined as a sub-deity, depicted in the rare concept of Balaganapati sitting on the shoulder of Lord Shiva. Additionally, there is a shrine dedicated to Naga Raja (the Serpent King).
The temple's major festivals include Maha Shivaratri in the month of Kumbham (February-March) and Thiruvathira in the month of Dhanu (December-January), both celebrated with great devotion and grandeur.
അയ്മുറി മഹാദേവ ക്ഷേത്രം
എറണാകുളം ജില്ലയിലെ പെരുമ്പാവൂരിനടുത്ത് അയ്മുറിയിൽ സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന പ്രശസ്തമായ മഹാദേവക്ഷേത്രമാണ് അയ്മുറി മഹാദേവക്ഷേത്രം. പെരുമ്പാവൂർ-കോടനാട് റൂട്ടിലാണ് ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നത്. കേരളത്തിലെ ഏറ്റവും വലിയ നന്ദിപ്രതിഷ്ഠയുള്ള ക്ഷേത്രമെന്ന പ്രത്യേകത ഈ മഹാക്ഷേത്രത്തിനുണ്ട്.ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ മൃത്യുഞ്ജയ ഹോമവും മൃത്യുഞ്ജയ പുഷ്പാഞ്ജലിയും പ്രത്യേകമായി നടത്തപ്പെടുന്നു. ജന്മാന്തരദുരിതങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നും രോഗങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നും മുക്തി നേടാനായി ഭക്തജനങ്ങൾ ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ എത്തുന്നു. ഉമാമഹേശ്വരനാണ് ഇവിടുത്തെ മുഖ്യ പ്രതിഷ്ഠ. ശിവനും പാർവതിയും ഒരുമിച്ചുള്ള സങ്കല്പമാണ് ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ ദൈവവിഭൂതി.
ഉപദേവനായി ഭഗവാൻ ഗണപതിയെയും സ്തുതിക്കുന്നു. വിശേഷതയെന്നുവച്ച്, ഭഗവാന്റെ ഒക്കത്തിരിക്കുന്ന ബാലഗണപതി രൂപത്തിലാണ് ഇവിടെ പ്രതിഷ്ഠ. ഈ പ്രതിഷ്ഠ മാറ്റിയാലും അതിനുള്ള ദൈവശക്തി ഇല്ലാതാകില്ലെന്നാണ് ശാസ്ത്രവിശ്വാസം. കൂടാതെ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ നാഗരാജാവിനും പ്രാധാന്യമുണ്ട്. ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ പ്രധാന ഉത്സവങ്ങൾ കുംഭമാസത്തിലെ മഹാശിവരാത്രിയോടെയും ധനുമാസത്തിലെ തിരുവാതിരയോടെയും ആചരിച്ചു വരുന്നു. 36 അടി ഉയരമുള്ള നന്ദി ശിൽപം തെക്കേ ഇന്ത്യയിലെ ഏറ്റവും ഉയരം കൂടിയ നന്ദി പ്രതിമകളിലൊന്നാണ്.
