Ayyampilly Mahadeva Temple is situated near Kuzhuppilly along the Vypin – Munambam Road in Ernakulam district.
Ayyampilly Mahadeva Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, who is worshipped as the main deity, facing east. The Upa Devatas in the temple include Goddess Parvati, Lord Ganapathy, Lord Ayyappa, and Nagayakshi, with Lord Ayyappa holding special significance. Women are not permitted to enter the Mukha Mandapam of Ayyappa.
The temple complex features two ponds, one located in the northeast and the other in the southwest.
Historically, the temple was under the patronage of the Kochi Royal family. The annual 8-day festival is observed in a manner that it concludes on Vavu or Amavasya day after Shivratri. One of the most significant offerings at the temple is the 1001 pot (Kudam) Dhara, performed with great devotion.

എറണാകുളം ജില്ലയിലെ വൈപ്പിൻ കരയിൽ നിന്ന് മൂന്ന് കിലോമീറ്റർ വടക്കോട്ട് സഞ്ചരിച്ചാൽ അയ്യമ്പിള്ളി മഹാദേവക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെത്തിച്ചേരാം.
ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ പ്രധാന പ്രതിഷ്ഠ ശിവനാണ്, കിഴക്കോട്ട് ദർശനമായി പ്രതിഷ്ഠിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. ഉപദേവതകളായി പാർവതി, ഗണപതി, അയ്യപ്പൻ, നാഗയക്ഷി എന്നിവരുടെ സാന്നിധ്യവുമുണ്ട്. ഇവയിൽ അയ്യപ്പന് പ്രത്യേക പ്രാധാന്യമുണ്ട്.
ശബരിമല ആചാരവുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ടതിനാൽ അയ്യപ്പന്റെ മുഖമണ്ഡപത്തിൽ സ്ത്രീകൾക്കുള്ള പ്രവേശനം നിയന്ത്രിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.
ക്ഷേത്ര സമുച്ചയത്തിന്റെ വടക്കുകിഴക്കും തെക്കുപടിഞ്ഞാറും രണ്ട് വലിയ കുളങ്ങളുണ്ട്. പുരാതനകാലത്ത് കൊച്ചി രാജകുടുംബത്തിനടിപടിയിലായിരുന്ന ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം ഇപ്പോൾ കൊച്ചിൻ ദേവസ്വം ബോർഡിന്റെ നിയന്ത്രണത്തിലാണ്.
ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ 8 ദിവസത്തെ വാർഷിക ഉത്സവം ശിവരാത്രിയ്ക്കു ശേഷം വാവു (അമാവാസി) ദിവസത്തിൽ സമാപിക്കുന്ന രീതിയിലാണ് ആചരിക്കുന്നത്.
ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ പ്രധാന വഴിപാട് 1001 കലം (കുടം) ധാരയാണ്.
