Chengal Shree Bhagavathi Temple, located in Kalady, Ernakulam district, is a revered temple dedicated to Goddess Durga, who resides facing the east.
It is one of the 108 temples consecrated by Parasurama and is managed by the Cochin Devaswom Board. The temple's annual festival begins with the flag hoisting on Karthika day in the month of Meenam and Thiruvathira day, drawing devotees from all religions to seek the Goddess's blessings. A grand fair is held during the day with five Gajaveeras (caparisoned elephants) in procession, culminating in a majestic Arattu and Arattu Oottu.
On the Karthika day of the Goddess’s birthday in Scorpio, 25 jugs of Kalasa Abhishekam are offered, followed by special poojas, Karthika Koot in the afternoon, and thousands of lamps lit for the Sandhya Deeparadhana. Devotees from Chengal and neighboring regions, irrespective of caste or creed, gather in large numbers for the festival.

Sri Durga Devi (Tuesdays, Fridays) - Karthika Koodu, Neypayasam, Neyvilakku, Pushpanjali, Niramala, Narangamala, Narangavilakku;
Sastha (Saturdays, Wednesdays) - Sesame seeds, jaggery, Neerajanam, camphor burning, white offering;
Mahadevan (Mondays, Saturdays) - Dhara, Koovalamala, Mrithyunjaya Pushpanjali, Koottupayasam, Pinvilakku, Munvilakku;
Bhadrakali (Tuesdays, Fridays) - Guruthi, Pushpanjali, Kadumpayasam, Malavilakku;
Ganapati (Fridays) - Ganapathi Homam, garlands, and Neyvilakku;
Bhuvaneshwari (Tuesdays, Fridays) - Pushpanjali, Vilakkumala, Koottupayasam, Rice Nivedyam.
The temple features Goddess Durga as the main deity, with sub-deities including Ganapati, Bhadrakali, Mahadevan, Sastha, and Bhuvaneshwari, making it a significant spiritual center for devotees.
ചെങ്ങൽ ഭഗവതി ക്ഷേത്രം
എറണാകുളം ജില്ലയിലെ കാലടിക്കടുത്ത് കാഞ്ഞൂർ പഞ്ചായത്തിലെ ചെങ്ങൽ ദേശത്ത് സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന ദേവിക്ഷേത്രമാണ് ചെങ്ങൽ ശ്രീ ഭഗവതിക്ഷേത്രം.这里പ്രധാന മൂർത്തിയായ ദേവി കിഴക്കു ദർശനമായി ദുർഗ്ഗാദേവിയായി പ്രതിഷ്ഠിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. പരശുരാമൻ പ്രതിഷ്ഠിച്ച 108 ദുർഗ്ഗാക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളിൽ ഒന്നായ ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം ഇന്ന് കൊച്ചിൻ ദേവസ്വം ബോർഡിന്റെ കീഴിലാണ്. മീനമാസത്തിലെ കാർത്തികനാളിൽ കൊടിയേറുകയും തിരുവാതിരനാളിൽ ആറാട്ട് വരുകയും ചെയ്യുന്ന രീതിയിലാണ് ഉത്സവം സംഘടിപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്. ഉത്സവദിവസത്തിൽ എല്ലാ മതസ്ഥരും അമ്മയുടെ അനുഗ്രഹം തേടി എത്തുകയും, മേളത്തോടുകൂടി അഞ്ച് ഗജവീരന്മാർ അണിനിരക്കുന്ന പകൽപ്പൂരം വർഷങ്ങളായി ഇവിടെ നടന്നു വരികയും ചെയ്യുന്നു. വലിയ ആറാട്ടും ആറാട്ട് ഊട്ടും നടത്തിപ്പിനൊപ്പം ഉത്സവം സമാപിക്കുന്നു.
ദേവിയുടെ പിറന്നാൾ ദിനമായ വൃശ്ചികത്തിലെ കാർത്തികനാളിൽ 25 കുടം കലശം, വിശേഷാൽ പൂജ, ഉച്ചക്ക് കാർത്തികയൂട്ട്, സന്ധ്യയ്ക്ക് ലക്ഷം ദീപം ആരാധന എന്നിവയും ഭക്തർ നിർവഹിക്കുന്നു. ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ പ്രധാന വഴിപാടുകൾക്ക് പ്രത്യേക വിശേഷദിവസങ്ങളുണ്ട്. ശ്രീ ദുർഗ്ഗാദേവിക്ക് ചൊവ്വ, വെള്ളിയാഴ്ചകൾ വിശേഷമാണ്; കാർത്തികയൂട്ട്, പിഴിഞ്ഞ് പായസം, നെയ്പായസം, നെയ്വിളക്ക്, പുഷ്പാഞ്ജലി, നിറമാല, നാരങ്ങമാല, നാരങ്ങവിളക്ക് എന്നിവ പ്രധാന വഴിപാടുകളാണ്. ശാസ്താവിന് ശനി, ബുധനാഴ്ചകൾ; എള്ളുതിരി, ശർക്കരപായസം, നീരാജനം, കർപ്പൂരം കത്തിക്കൽ, വെള്ളനിവേദ്യം എന്നിവ നിർവഹിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു.
മഹാദേവന് തിങ്കൾ, ശനിയാഴ്ചകളിൽ ധാര, കൂവളമാല, മൃത്യുഞ്ജയപുഷ്പാഞ്ജലി, കൂട്ടുപയാസം, പിൻവിളക്ക്, മുൻവിളക്ക് എന്നിവ നടത്തുന്നു. ഭദ്രകാളിക്കു ചൊവ്വ, വെള്ളിയാഴ്ച ഗുരുതി, പുഷ്പാഞ്ജലി, കടുംപായസം, മാലവിളക്ക് എന്നിവയും, ഗണപതിക്ക് വെള്ളിയാഴ്ച ഗണപതി ഹോമം, കറുകമാല, പുഷ്പാഞ്ജലി, നെയ്വിളക്ക് എന്നിവയും, ഭുവനേശ്വരിക്ക് ചൊവ്വ, വെള്ളിയാഴ്ച വെള്ളനിവേദ്യം, പുഷ്പാഞ്ജലി, കൂട്ടുപയാസം, വിളക്ക്മാല എന്നിവയും നടത്തുന്നു. ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ പ്രധാന പ്രതിഷ്ഠ ദുർഗ്ഗാദേവിയായപ്പോൾ ഉപദേവന്മാരായി ഗണപതി, ഭദ്രകാളി, മഹാദേവൻ, ശാസ്താവ്, ഭുവനേശ്വരി എന്നിവരെ ആരാധിക്കുന്നു.
