Kadamattam Sri Mahadeva Temple Nambiar Padi Colony Ernakulam

The presiding deity of the temple is Lord Mahadeva, worshipped alongside Goddess Parvati. Notably, the temple also enshrines Goddess Bhadrakali, who is revered with equal significance as the main deity. In addition to Lord Mahadeva and Goddess Bhadrakali, the temple houses shrines for Lord Ganesha, Lord Ayyappa (Sastavu) with Prabha Satyaka, and Nagaraja.

The presence of these deities adds to the spiritual and religious importance of the temple. The origins of the Kadamattam Temple are believed to date back over 1,190 years, as it is mentioned in legends associated with the Kadamattam Church, which is said to have been established in 825 AD. Historical accounts suggest that this site was initially a Devi temple, which was later dedicated to Lord Mahadeva.

എറണാകുളം-മൂവാറ്റുപുഴ സംസ്ഥാന പാതയിൽ കൊലഞ്ചേരിയിൽ നിന്ന് 2.4 കിലോമീറ്റർ അകലെ സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന ഒരു പുരാതന ശിവക്ഷേത്രമാണ് കടമറ്റം ശ്രീ മഹാദേവക്ഷേത്രം. പാർവതീ സമേതനായ മഹാദേവനാണ് ഇവിടത്തെ പ്രധാന പ്രതിഷ്ഠ. പ്രധാന ദേവതയ്ക്ക് തുല്യ പ്രാധാന്യമുള്ള ഭദ്രകാളി പ്രതിഷ്ഠയും ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ പ്രതിഷ്ഠിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടെന്നതാണ് ഇതിന്റെ ഒരു പ്രത്യേകത.മഹാദേവനും ഭദ്രകാളിയും കൂടാതെ ഗണപതി, പ്രഭ സത്യക സമേതനായ ശാസ്താവ്, നാഗരാജപ്രതിഷ്ഠകളും ക്ഷേത്രത്തിനുണ്ട്.

ഇതുമൂലം ശിവഭക്തർക്ക് മാത്രമല്ല, വിശ്വാസികൾക്ക് സമഗ്രമായ ആരാധനാനുഭവം നൽകുന്ന ദേവാലയമാണിത്. ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന് 1,190 വർഷത്തിലധികം പഴക്കമുണ്ടെന്നാണ് കരുതപ്പെടുന്നത്. ക്രിസ്തുവർഷം 825-ൽ സ്ഥാപിതമായെന്നു കരുതുന്ന കടമറ്റം പള്ളിയുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട ഐതിഹ്യങ്ങളിൽ ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള പരാമർശം കാണാമെന്നതിനാൽ, ഇത് അതിനും മുമ്പേ നിലവിലുണ്ടായിരുന്ന ദേവീക്ഷേത്രമാണെന്ന് ചരിത്രവിശ്വാസം ഉണ്ട്.
