Kuzhuppilly Mahadeva Temple, located on the Vypin–Munambam Road in Ernakulam district, is a revered temple dedicated to Lord Shiva.
The presiding deity, Lord Mahadeva, faces west, and the temple also houses Upa Devatas including Ganapathy, Sastha, Bhagavathy, and Sri Krishna.
The temple’s grand 8-day annual festival, known as Mulayittu Utsavam, concludes on the Thiruvathira nakshatra in the Malayalam month of Dhanu (December-January).
Siva Temple holds historical significance as one of the important temples associated with the Kochi royal family. Situated approximately 19 km from Kochi, the temple attracts numerous devotees, especially during its festival days, which feature vibrant rituals and cultural events.
കുഴുപ്പിള്ളി മഹാദേവ ക്ഷേത്രം
എറണാകുളം ജില്ലയിൽ ഗോശ്രീ പാലം കടന്നാൽ മുരിക്കുംപാടത്തെത്താം. അവിടെനിന്നും മുനമ്പം ഹാർബർ വരെ 22.8 കിലോമീറ്റർ ദൂരമുണ്ട്, ഇത് ഏകദേശം 45 മിനിറ്റിനുള്ളിൽ എത്തിച്ചേരാവുന്ന ദൂരമാണ്.ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം കൊച്ചി രാജകുടുംബത്തിൻറേതായിരുന്നു. ഇപ്പോൾ ഇത് കൊച്ചിൻ ദേവസ്വം ബോർഡിൻറെ അധീനതയിലാണ്.
ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ പ്രധാന പ്രതിഷ്ഠ പരമശിവനാണ്, കിഴക്കോട്ട് ദർശനമായി പ്രതിഷ്ഠിച്ചിരിയ്ക്കുന്നു. ഉപദേവതകളായി പാർവതി, ഗണപതി, നാഗയക്ഷി എന്നിവരുടെ പ്രതിഷ്ഠയും ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ ഉണ്ട്. ഏകദേശം 850 വർഷം മുമ്പ് ഒരേ കാലഘട്ടത്തിൽ പണികഴിപ്പിച്ച ഈ മഹാക്ഷേത്രം അതിന്റെ പൗരാണിക മഹിമ കൊണ്ട് ഇന്നും പ്രസിദ്ധമാണ്.
