Udayamperoor Nadakkavu Bhagavathi Temple is a prominent Hindu shrine located in Udayamperoor, Ernakulam district, Kerala.
Bhagavathi Temple is dedicated to Goddess Bhagavathi (Devi) and is known for its spiritual and cultural significance.
Bhagavathi Temple hosts the grand Thalappoli festival in the Malayalam month of Makaram (January – February), which is one of its most important celebrations. Another major festival observed here is Makara Bharani.
Architecturally, the temple follows traditional Kerala temple design, featuring a kodimaram (flagstaff), bali kallu (sacrificial stone), and chuttambalam (temple courtyard). Several Upa Devata (sub-deity) shrines are also present within the temple complex.
Annual festival lasts two days and is well known for its elephant procession (ezhunnallathu) and traditional percussion performances (melam). Other significant festivals celebrated at the temple include Navratri and Thrikarthika.
The temple is maintained and managed by the Nair Service Society (NSS) Karayogam.
ഉദയംപേരൂർ നടക്കാവ് ഭഗവതി ക്ഷേത്രം
ഉദയംപേരൂർ, എറണാകുളം ജില്ലയിലെ തൃപ്പൂണിത്തുറയിൽ നിന്ന് ഏകദേശം 5 കിലോമീറ്റർ തെക്കേക്ക് സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന ഒരു പഴമയേറിയ ഗ്രാമമാണ്. ഈ പ്രദേശത്ത് പ്രസിദ്ധമായ ഉദയംപേരൂർ നടക്കാവ് ഭഗവതി ക്ഷേത്രം സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നു.
മറ്റു ഭഗവതി ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളിൽ കാണപ്പെടുന്നതുപോലെയുള്ള സ്വരൂപ പ്രതിഷ്ഠയോ കണ്ണാടി ബിംബ പ്രതിഷ്ഠയോ ഇവിടെ ഇല്ല.
ഇന്നും ആദിമകാലത്ത് കുടിവച്ചു ആചരിച്ച സമ്പ്രദായം അനുസരിച്ചാണ് ആരാധന തുടരുന്നത്.
വിഗ്രഹത്തിന്റെ രൂപശൈലി ഏറെ പ്രത്യേകത പുലർത്തുന്നു. ഇടത് കൈകളിൽ വട്ടകവാളും ശൂലവും കരസ്ഥമാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു, അതേസമയം വലത് കൈകളിൽ ദാരികന്റെ അറുത്ത ശിരസ്സും രക്തപാത്രവും കാണാം.
ദേവിയുടെ മുഖഭാവം പൊതുവേ പ്രസന്നമായിരിക്കാൻ സാധ്യതയില്ല, ചുണ്ടിന്റെ ഇരുവശങ്ങളിലും ദംഷ്ട്രകൾ പുറത്തേക്ക് നീണ്ടു കാണപ്പെടുന്നു.
ദേവി വേതാളത്തിന്റെ മേൽ ഇരിക്കുന്ന ഭാവത്തിലാണ്, ദാരിക വധത്തിനു ശേഷം അൽപ കോപം ശമിച്ച രൂപഭാവമാണ്.
