Poothrukkovil Temple is one of the ancient pilgrim centres of Kerala, located in Thekke Aikkaranadu, about 5.5 km south of Ramamangalam in Ernakulam district.
The temple is dedicated to Lord Krishna, who is worshipped here as the presiding deity.
This Sri Krishna temple is believed to be centuries old and holds great religious significance. The temple follows traditional Kerala temple architecture, featuring a Sreekovil (sanctum sanctorum), Namaskara Mandapam, Chuttambalam (outer structure), Bali Kallu (sacrificial stone), and a Kodimaram (flagpole).
The temple is known for its annual festivals and rituals, which attract devotees from different parts of Kerala. Special poojas and celebrations are conducted during Janmashtami (Sri Krishna’s birthday), Vishu, and other major Hindu festivals. The serene surroundings and spiritual ambiance make it a revered pilgrimage destination for Krishna devotees.

പൂതൃക്കോവിൽ ശ്രീകൃഷ്ണ സ്വാമി ക്ഷേത്രം കേരളത്തിലെ അതിപുരാതനമായ തീർഥാടന കേന്ദ്രങ്ങളിലൊന്നാണ്. ഇത് എറണാകുളം ജില്ലയിൽ, രാമമംഗലത്തുനിന്ന് ഏകദേശം 5.5 കിലോമീറ്റർ തെക്കായി സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന തെക്കേ ഐക്കരനാട് ഗ്രാമത്തിൽ സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നു. ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ പ്രധാന പ്രതിഷ്ഠ ശ്രീകൃഷ്ണനാണ്.
ശതാബ്ദികളായി നിലനിൽക്കുന്ന ഈ ശ്രീകൃഷ്ണ ക്ഷേത്രം അതിന്റെ ആചാരപരമായ മഹത്വത്താൽ പ്രശസ്തമാണ്. കേരളത്തിന്റെ സാംപ്രദായിക ക്ഷേത്ര ശില്പകലാ സവിശേഷതകളോടുകൂടിയ ഈ ദേവാലയം ശ്രീകോവിൽ (ഗർഭഗൃഹം), നമസ്കാര മണ്ഡപം, ചുട്ടമ്പലം, ബലികല്ല്, കൊടിമരം എന്നിവ ഇവിടത്തെ പ്രത്യേകതയാണ്.
ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ പ്രധാന ഉത്സവങ്ങളും പ്രത്യേക പൂജകളും വളരെ പ്രാധാന്യമുള്ളവയാണ്. ശ്രീകൃഷ്ണ ജയന്തി (ജന്മാഷ്ടമി), വിഷു, മറ്റ് പ്രധാന ഹിന്ദു ഉത്സവങ്ങൾ എന്നിവ ആഘോഷപൂർവ്വം ആചരിക്കുന്നു. ശാന്തമായ പരിസരവും ദൈവികത നിറഞ്ഞ അന്തരീക്ഷവും ഭക്തജനങ്ങൾക്ക് ആത്മീയ ശാന്തിയും അനുഗ്രഹവും നൽകുന്നു.
