Ramamangalam Perumthrikovil Temple is an ancient and revered temple located in Ramamangalam, Ernakulam district, Kerala. It is situated 7.7 km from Kolanchery and 2.6 km from Ramamangalam.
This temple is one of the five great Perumthrikovils, distinguished by its architectural grandeur and spiritual significance.
A unique aspect of the temple is the presence of two deities within the same quadrant, along with two eternal flags—one being the largest and the other the smallest. The temple was established and devotional ceremonies were conducted by Cheraman Perumal of the Perumal dynasty in Kerala.
Unlike many temples, Perumthrikovils are rare, and their architectural features, including the sanctum, distinguish them from other shrines.The temple's northern side is adorned with a massive perimeter wall, an imposing elephant pantheon, a Vilakkumadam (illuminated structure), and a grand Sreekovil with a copper roof. A beautifully carved Mukhamandapam, a two-storied circular shrine, and an Arappura (storage house) in the northwest corner further enhance its magnificence.
The principal deity of the temple is Lord Narasimha in his serene child form, known as Unni Bhoot. It is believed that the temple was built by Cheraman Perumal Unni Bhoot.
According to legend, Lord Shiva was reborn as a divine being in Outhangikal due to his past deeds, and devotees worship Unni Bhoot as a childlike Shiva Bhoot—stubborn yet quick-witted. His worship follows the Shaiva tradition.
Additionally, in the temple's southwest corner is the idol of Koovalam Moottil Bhagavathi, while outside the temple walls are the serpent god idols.
The main offerings at Ramamangalam Perumthrikovil Temple include Nithya Pooja (daily worship), Palpayasam, Thirumukham Chandanam Charthal (sandalwood application), Muzhukkappu, and Thulabharam for the presiding deity, Perumthrikovilappan. Devotees offer Coconut Threshing, Bell Walking, Manchadikuru (red seed) offering, Sandalwood Application, Immersion, and Weighing Ritual for Unni Bhoot. Additionally, Koovalam Moottil Bhagavathi is worshipped with Athazha Pooja (night worship). This ancient temple stands as a testament to Kerala’s rich spiritual and architectural heritage.

എറണാകുളം ജില്ലയിലെ രാമമംഗലത്ത് സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന അതിപുരാതനവും അനേകം പ്രത്യേകതകളുമായി പ്രശസ്തവുമായ ക്ഷേത്രമാണ് രാമമംഗലം പെരുംതൃക്കോവിൽ ക്ഷേത്രം. കോലഞ്ചേരിയിൽ നിന്ന് 7.7 കിലോമീറ്ററും, രാമമംഗലത്തിൽ നിന്ന് 2.6 കിലോമീറ്ററും സഞ്ചരിച്ചാൽ ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെത്താം. മധ്യകേരളത്തിലെ പഞ്ചമഹാക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളിൽ ഒന്നായ ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം കാളിയാർ, കോതയാർ, തൊടുപുഴയാർ ചേർന്നൊഴുകി എത്തുന്ന മൂവാറ്റുപുഴയാറിന്റെ തീരത്താണ് സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നത്.
ഒരേ നാലമ്പലത്തിനകത്ത് തന്നെ രണ്ട് പ്രതിഷ്ഠകൾ, രണ്ട് നടകളിലും നിത്യധ്വജം, അതിലൊന്ന് ഏറ്റവും വലുത്, മറ്റൊന്ന് ഏറ്റവും ചെറുത് എന്നതാണ് ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ പ്രത്യേകത. ഈ ദേവാലയത്തിൽ പ്രധാന പ്രതിഷ്ഠ നരസിംഹമൂർത്തിയുടെ ശാന്തഭാവത്തിലുള്ള ബാലനരസിംഹൻ ആണ്. ഭക്തരോടുള്ള അമിതസ്നേഹവും വാത്സല്യവും മൂലം ആശ്രയിക്കുന്ന ആരെയും കൈവിടാതെയിരിയ്ക്കുമെന്ന വിശ്വാസം നിലനിൽക്കുന്നു. കൂടാതെ, ഓവ് താങ്ങിയായി ഉണ്ണിഭൂതന്റെ പ്രതിഷ്ഠ ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ ഏകദേശം പ്രത്യേകതയാണ്.
ക്ഷേത്രം നിർമാണം നടത്തിയ ചേരമാൻ പെരുമാൾ തന്നെയാണ് ഉണ്ണിഭൂതനെ പ്രതിഷ്ഠിച്ചതെന്നാണ് വിശ്വാസം. ശിവയോഗിയായിരുന്ന പെരുമാളിന്റെ കർമഫലമായി, ഓവുതാങ്ങികല്ലിൽ ശിവഭൂതമായി പുനർജനിച്ചു എന്നാണ് ഈ പ്രതിഷ്ഠയെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള സങ്കല്പം. അല്പം പിടിവാശിയും മുൻകോപിയുമുള്ള പക്ഷേ ക്ഷിപ്രപ്രസാദിയായ കുട്ടിത്തമുള്ള ഒരു ശിവഭൂതനാണ് ഉണ്ണിഭൂതൻ. ശൈവ സങ്കല്പത്തിലാണ് പൂജകളും വഴിപാടുകളും നടക്കുന്നത്. ക്ഷേത്രത്തിനകത്ത് തെക്കുപടിഞ്ഞാറ് കൂവളത്തിന് മൂട്ടിൽ ഭഗവതി, വടക്കു മാറി സർപ്പദേവതകളുടെ പ്രതിഷ്ഠകളും കാണാം.
ഗജാകാരത്തിലുള്ള കൂറ്റൻ ചുറ്റുമതിൽ, ഗാംഭീര്യമാർന്ന ആനപ്പന്തലുകൾ, വലിയ വിളക്കുമാടം, കൂത്തമ്പലത്തോട് കൂടിയ വിശാലമായ വലിയമ്പലം, ദാരുശില്പങ്ങൾ കൊണ്ട് അലങ്കരിച്ച മുഖമണ്ഡപം, ചെമ്പ് മേഞ്ഞ ഇരുനില വട്ട ശ്രീകോവിൽ, ഒരിക്കലും വറ്റാത്ത കൊക്കർണി, 36,000 പറ നെല്ല് സൂക്ഷിക്കാവുന്ന കൂറ്റൻ അറപ്പുരമാളിക തുടങ്ങി അനവധി പ്രത്യേകതകളാൽ ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം അലങ്കരിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു. പെരുംതൃക്കോവിലപ്പന് നിത്യപൂജ, പാൽപ്പായസം, തിരുമുഖം ചന്ദനം ചാർത്തൽ, മുഴുക്കാപ്പ്, തുലാഭാരം എന്നിവ പ്രധാന വഴിപാടുകളാണ്.
