Tripunithura Puthiyakavu Devi Temple, located in Tripunithura, Ernakulam district, Kerala, is dedicated to Goddess Bhagavathy.
The presiding deity is Goddess Karthyayani Devi, affectionately known as Puthiyakavil Amma. It is believed that she is the sister of Kodungallur Bhagavathy. The sanctum sanctorum (sreekovil) is square-shaped (chathura sreekovil), and the temple complex includes shrines for Upa Devatas, including Lord Ganapati. The temple also features a nalambalam, namaskara mandapam, kodimaram (flag post), and additional shrines.
The temple’s annual festival is renowned for its vibrant fireworks, processions, ezhunellippu, and Kerala temple folk art performances.
The grand 7-day Thalappoli festival, held in Kumbha Masam, coincides with Kumbha Bharani. The third and fourth days of the festival hold special significance for unmarried women, who gather at the temple to offer Thalappoli in decorated thalams. The festival concludes with Thookkam and an impressive fireworks display.
In addition to the annual festival, the temple also observes other significant occasions, including Ramayana Masam, Navratri, Mandala Kalam, and the Thrikarthika festival.
പുതിയകാവ് ഭഗവതി ക്ഷേത്രം തൃപ്പുണിത്തുറ
എറണാകുളം ജില്ലയിലെ തൃപ്പുണിത്തുറ-വൈക്കം റോഡിൽ 3.8 കിലോമീറ്റർ സഞ്ചരിച്ചാൽ എത്തിച്ചേരുന്ന പ്രസിദ്ധമായ ഭഗവതി ക്ഷേത്രമാണ് പുതിയകാവ് ഭഗവതി ക്ഷേത്രം. ദുർഗ്ഗാദേവിയാണ് ഇവിടെ പ്രധാന പ്രതിഷ്ഠ. ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ കുംഭമാസത്തിലെ താലപ്പൊലി മഹോത്സവവും നവരാത്രി ഉത്സവവും അതിഗംഭീരമായി ആഘോഷിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു. പുതിയകാവിലമ്മയുടെ കുംഭമാസത്തിലെ വടക്കുംപുറം, തെക്കുംപുറം താലപ്പൊലി, വേല, വെടിക്കെട്ട് എന്നിവ ഏറെ പ്രസിദ്ധമാണ്.
പുതിയകാവിലമ്മയുടെ വേല തട്ടകത്തിൻറെ ദേശീയോത്സവമായി അറിയപ്പെടുന്നു. മറ്റ് ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നു വ്യത്യസ്തമായി, തെക്കുംപുറം വേലയും വടക്കുംപുറം വേലയും കേരളത്തിലെ പ്രമുഖ കരിവീരന്മാരുടേയും പ്രശസ്ത കലാകാരന്മാരുടേയും വാദ്യഘോഷങ്ങളോടെയാണു ക്ഷേത്രപ്പറമ്പിലെത്തുന്നത്.ഉത്സവത്തിൻറെ മൂന്നാം നാളും നാലാം നാളും അവിവാഹിതരായ സ്ത്രീകൾക്കു വളരെ ശുഭകരമായതായി കരുതപ്പെടുന്നു.
ഈ ദിവസങ്ങളിൽ സ്ത്രീകൾ ഒന്നിച്ചുകൂടി ദേവിക്ക് താലപ്പൊലി സമർപ്പിച്ച് ആശീർവാദം തേടുന്നു. തൂക്കവും വെടിക്കെട്ടുമാണ് ഉത്സവത്തിൻറെ സമാപനഘോഷമായി കണക്കാക്കപ്പെടുന്നത്.
ഇതുകൂടാതെ, രാമായണമാസം, നവരാത്രി, മണ്ഡലകാലം, തൃക്കാർത്തിക മഹോത്സവം തുടങ്ങിയ വിവിധ പുണ്യ അവസരങ്ങളും ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ ആചരിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു.
