Thripunithura Sri Ramaswamy Temple, located in Tripunithura, Ernakulam district, is a Vaishnava temple known for its spiritual and historical significance.
The temple enshrines Lord Sree Rama, along with Lakshmana and Sita, together on a single pedestal. These idols are made of Panchaloha (a sacred five-metal alloy). The temple was built during the reign of the Cochin kings, with the Maharaja of Kochi extending support to the Gowda Saraswathi Brahmins who had sought refuge in Kerala. It is believed that Lord Rama has been worshipped here for about 300 years, with the consecration taking place on the Rohini star in the month of Meenam.
Over time, some parts of the temple deteriorated, leading to its restoration under the administration of the Thripunithura Poornathrayeesa Temple, which was governed by the King of Cochin. Subsequently, the Thripunithura Devaswom took over the temple's management. On Punartham Nakshatra, the birth star of Lord Rama, the temple conducts special poojas and other rituals. The temple also houses several sub-deities, including Mahaganapati, Hanuman, Venkatachalapathy, Vanadurga, and Nagaraja.
Hanuman Swami has a separate shrine on the east side, adjacent to the main temple. Vighneshwara (Ganapati) is enshrined in the Nirruthi (south-west) corner of Nalambalam, while Venkatachalapathy’s shrine is in the north-west corner. The idols of Nagaraja and Goddess Durga are placed in the north-east corner of the temple.
The temple follows a strict three-daily pooja schedule (Thrikala Pooja), with the sanctum opening at 5 a.m. and closing at 10 p.m.
Important annual celebrations include Ashtamirohini, Diwali, Vinayaka Chaturthi, and the dedication days of Lord Ramaswamy and Venkatachalapathy, along with the grand observance of Sri Rama Navami. Thiruvutsavam (annual festival) is celebrated in the Malayalam month of Meenam (March-April) for eight days, aligning with the Rohini star on the sixth day. The festival begins on the first day of Chathayam Nakshatra and culminates on the eighth day, marking a spiritually vibrant and grand occasion.

എറണാകുളം ജില്ലയിലെ തൃപ്പൂണിത്തുറയിൽ സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന പ്രധാന വൈഷ്ണവ ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളിൽ ഒന്നാണ് തൃപ്പൂണിത്തുറ ശ്രീരാമസ്വാമി ക്ഷേത്രം. ഗൗഡ സാരസ്വത ബ്രാഹ്മണരുടെ സഹായത്തോടെ കൊച്ചി രാജാവിന്റെ കാലത്ത് നിർമ്മിക്കപ്പെട്ട ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം, പിന്നീട് ശ്രീരാമക്ഷേത്രമായി അറിയപ്പെട്ടു. ശ്രീരാമൻ, ലക്ഷ്മണൻ, സീതാ ദേവി എന്നിവർ ഒരേ പീഠത്തിൽ പ്രതിഷ്ഠിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നതും പഞ്ചലോഹ വിഗ്രഹങ്ങളിൽ നിർമ്മിതമായുള്ളതുമാണ്.
വിശ്വാസപ്രകാരം മീനമാസത്തിലെ രോഹിണി നക്ഷത്രദിവസം, ഏകദേശം 300 വർഷങ്ങൾക്ക് മുൻപ് ശ്രീരാമസ്വാമിയുടെ പ്രതിഷ്ഠ നടന്നതായി കരുതപ്പെടുന്നു. കാലപ്പഴക്കം മൂലം ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ പല ഭാഗങ്ങളും നശിച്ചപ്പോൾ കൊച്ചി മഹാരാജാവ്, തൃപ്പൂണിത്തുറ പൂർണ്ണത്രയീശ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ സഹായത്തോടെ, തൃപ്പൂണിത്തുറ ദേവസ്വം മുഖേന ക്ഷേത്രഭരണം ഏറ്റെടുത്തതായി ചരിത്ര രേഖകൾ സൂചിപ്പിക്കുന്നു. ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ വടക്കുപടിഞ്ഞാറ് വായു കോണിൽ മുൻകാലത്ത് പ്രതിഷ്ഠിച്ചിരുന്ന വെങ്കടാചലപതിയുടെ വിഗ്രഹം, നൂറ് വർഷങ്ങൾക്ക് മുൻപ് കാരണക്കോടം ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ കൊണ്ടുപോയതിന്റെ ഫലമായി ഗൗഡ സാരസ്വത ബ്രാഹ്മണ കുടുംബങ്ങൾക്ക് പ്രതിവിപത്തുകൾ സംഭവിച്ചുവെന്ന വിശ്വാസം നിലനിൽക്കുന്നു.
പിന്നീട് കൊല്ലവർഷം 1158 മകരം 6-നു തിങ്കളാഴ്ച, സുധീന്ദ്രതീർഥ സ്വാമികൾ പഴയ സ്ഥാനത്ത് വെങ്കടാചലപതിയുടെ പുതിയ ശ്രീകോവിൽ നിർമിച്ച് പ്രതിഷ്ഠ നടത്തുകയും ചെയ്തു. ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ ഉപദേവതകൾ മഹാഗണപതി, ഹനുമാൻ, വെങ്കടാചലപതി, വനദുർഗ്ഗ, നാഗരാജാവ് എന്നിവരെയാണ്. ഹനുമാൻ സ്വാമിക്കായി കിഴക്കു ഭാഗത്ത് പ്രത്യേക ശ്രീകോവിൽ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. മുല്ലപ്പൂ കുപ്പായം അവിടുത്തെ പ്രധാന വഴിപാടാണ്, ഇത് ഒരു ദിവസം ഒരാൾക്ക് മാത്രം ചെയ്യാവുന്ന രീതിയിൽ മുൻകൂട്ടി ബുക്ക് ചെയ്ത് നടത്തേണ്ടതാണ്. നിരൃതി കോണിൽ വിഘ്നേശ്വരൻ, വടക്കുപടിഞ്ഞാറ് വായു കോണിൽ വെങ്കടാചലപതി ക്ഷേത്രം, ഈശാന കോണിൽ നാഗരാജാവിന്റെയും ദുർഗാദേവിയുടെയും പ്രതിഷ്ഠകൾ നിലകൊള്ളുന്നു.
ദിവസവും മൂന്ന് നിത്യപൂജകൾ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ നടത്തപ്പെടുന്നു. തൃകാലപൂജാവിധികളോടുകൂടിയ പടിത്തരമാണ് ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ നിർവഹിക്കുന്നത്. പുലർച്ചെ 5-മണിക്ക് നട തുറന്ന് ഉച്ചയ്ക്ക് 10-മണിക്ക് അടയ്ക്കുകയും, വൈകിട്ട് 5-മണിക്ക് വീണ്ടും നട തുറന്ന് രാത്രി 7:30-മണിക്ക് അത്താഴപൂജക്കുശേഷം നട അടയ്ക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു. അഷ്ടമിരോഹിണി, ദീപാവലി, വിനായക ചതുര്‍ത്ഥി, ശ്രീരാമസ്വാമിയുടെയും വെങ്കടാചലപതിയുടെയും പ്രതിഷ്ഠാദിനങ്ങൾ, ശ്രീരാമനവമി എന്നിവയാണ് പ്രധാന ആണ്ടുവിശേഷങ്ങൾ.
തിരുവുത്സവം മീനമാസത്തിൽ (മാർച്ച്-ഏപ്രിൽ) എട്ട് ദിവസം നീളുന്നു, രോഹിണി നക്ഷത്രം ആറാട്ടായി വരത്തക്കവിധം തിരുവുത്സവം നടക്കുന്നു. ആദ്യദിവസം ചതയം നക്ഷത്രത്തിൽ രാമക്ഷേത്രനടയിൽ തൃക്കൊടിയേറി ഉത്സവം ആരംഭിച്ച്, എട്ടാം ദിവസം ആറാട്ടോടുകൂടി സമാപിക്കുന്നു. ഉത്സവ ദിവസങ്ങളിൽ രാവിലെ, സന്ധ്യ, രാത്രി ശീവേലി എഴുന്നള്ളിപ്പുകളും, രാത്രിയിൽ ശ്രീഭൂതബലിയും വിളക്ക് എഴുന്നള്ളിപ്പുകളും ഭക്തർക്ക് ദർശനത്തിനായി നടത്തപ്പെടുന്നു.
