Udayamperoor Ekadasi Perunthrikovil Temple Kochi | Perumthrikovil | Ernakulam

This temple is a classic example of Kerala temple architecture, featuring monumental towers and a large circular sanctum sanctorum (Vattasreekovil). Spread across a courtyard of approximately four acres, it is one of the prominent Shiva temples in Kerala. Mukha Mandapa, the first chamber of the temple, showcases a blend of Kerala-Dravidian architectural styles. According to folklore, Sage Parashurama installed the idol, making this temple one of the 108 sacred Shiva temples in Kerala.

The temple complex includes a four-storied structure, and its eastern entrance features a towering gopuram, a rare architectural element in Kerala. The Nalambalam and other structures reflect the unique Kerala temple style. The Vattasreekovil is massive and is estimated to be around 700 years old. The grand sacrifice hall (Yaga Mandapam) is supported by four intricately carved pillars.While daily poojas are performed by Tamil Brahmins, the temple administration and rituals are overseen by Malayalam Brahmins. Major festivals celebrated here include Mahashivaratri, Adradarshanam, and Thalappoli, attracting devotees from far and wide.

ഉദയംപേരൂർ ഏകാദശി പെരുംതൃക്കോവിൽ ശിവക്ഷേത്രം എറണാകുളം ജില്ലയിലെ ഉദയംപേരൂരിൽ സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന പ്രസിദ്ധമായ ഒരു മഹാക്ഷേത്രമാണ്. പരശുരാമൻ സ്ഥാപിച്ചെന്ന് വിശ്വസിക്കപ്പെടുന്ന 108 ശിവക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളിൽ ഒന്നായ ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം നിരവധി ശിലാലിഖിതങ്ങൾക്കും ചരിത്രപരമായ പ്രാധാന്യത്തിനും പ്രസിദ്ധമാണ്. ചേരചക്രവർത്തിയായിരുന്ന ഗോദരവിവർമ്മയുടെ ശാസനയും ഇവിടെ കണ്ടെത്തിയിട്ടുണ്ട്.പരശുരാമപ്രതിഷ്ഠയാണെങ്കിലും ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ ശിവലിംഗം സ്വയംഭൂവായാണ് അറിയപ്പെടുന്നത്. കിഴക്കോട്ട് ദർശനമായ ഈ ശിവലിംഗം വലിപ്പത്തിൽ വൈക്കം മഹാദേവക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ ലിംഗത്തിനോട് തുല്യമാണ്.

ശിവൻറെ എതിർവശത്ത് പാർവതിദേവിയുടെ പ്രതിഷ്ഠയുമുണ്ട്. ഉപദേവതകളായി ഗണപതി, അയ്യപ്പൻ, സുബ്രഹ്മണ്യൻ, നാഗദേവതകൾ, ബ്രഹ്മരക്ഷസ്സ്, യക്ഷി എന്നിവയും ഇവിടെ പ്രതിഷ്ഠിതരാണ്. നാലു ഏക്കറോളം വിസ്തൃതിയുള്ള ക്ഷേത്രമൈതാനം വിശാലവുമായ ഒരു ക്ഷേത്രക്കുളത്തോടൊപ്പം സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നു. ക്ഷേത്ര സമുച്ചയം നാലമ്പലവും വലിയ വട്ടശ്രീകോവിലോടും കൂടിയതാണ്. തനത് കേരളാശൈലിയിൽ നിർമിച്ച ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം കിഴക്കുഭാഗത്ത് അത്യുജ്വലമായ ഒരു വലിയ ഗോപുരം കൊണ്ട് അലങ്കരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. ഏകദേശം 700 വർഷത്തിലധികം പഴക്കമുള്ള വലിയ വട്ടശ്രീകോവിൽ ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന് പ്രത്യേകത നൽകുന്നു. അതിനോടനുബന്ധിച്ചുള്ള വലിയബലിക്കൽപ്പുരയും ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ ആകർഷണങ്ങളിലൊന്നാണ്. ദിവസവും പൂജകൾ നിർവഹിക്കുന്നതു തമിഴ് ബ്രാഹ്മണർ ആയിരിക്കുമ്പോഴും ക്ഷേത്ര തന്ത്രാവകാശം മലയാള ബ്രാഹ്മണർക്കാണ്. പ്രധാന ഉത്സവങ്ങൾ ശിവരാത്രി, ആദ്രാദർശനം, താലപ്പൊലി എന്നിവയാണ്.
