Vyttila Sri Shiva Subramanya Swayambhoo Temple, located in Vyttila, Ernakulam district, Kerala, is a revered shrine where both Lord Shiva and Lord Subramanya hold equal significance.
A unique aspect of the temple is the swayambhu (self-manifested) murti of Subramanya, a rare divine presence untouched by human hands.
The temple is renowned for its annual Thaipooyam festival in the Malayalam month of Makaram (January – February), which is a grand celebration dedicated to Lord Subramanya. Other major festivals include Mahashivratri and the annual festival in Kumbham month.
Thalappoli festival is also observed in Makaram. The temple complex features two separate square sanctums (chathura sreekovil) dedicated to Lord Shiva and Lord Subramanya. The temple walls are adorned with intricate sculptures, adding to its architectural beauty. A kodimaram (flagpost) stands tall within the temple premises, and a massive banyan tree provides a serene atmosphere. A temple pond further enhances the spiritual ambiance of the shrine.
Among the most significant observances in the temple is Sashti, the sixth day of the waxing moon after Amavasya, which is devoted to Lord Subramanya. Additionally, Pradosham, observed on the 13th day of each fortnight, is an important day of worship for Lord Shiva.
The temple also has Upa Devatas (sub-deities), including Lord Sastha and Goddess Bhagavathi (Devi), further enriching its spiritual significance.

ശിവക്ഷേത്രം കേരളത്തിലെ നൂറ്റിയെട്ട് ശിവാലയങ്ങളിൽ ഒന്നായി കണക്കാക്കപ്പെടുന്നു, അതേസമയം, സുബ്രഹ്മണ്യപ്രതിഷ്ഠ സ്വയംഭൂവായി ആരാധിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു. ഇരു ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങൾക്കും തുല്യ പ്രാധാന്യമുണ്ടെന്ന് വ്യക്തമാക്കുന്നതുപോലെ, തനത് കേരള ശൈലിയിലുള്ള നാലമ്പലം, കൊടിമരം, ബലിക്കല്ല് എന്നിവ പ്രത്യേകം ഒരുക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു. കൂടാതെ, ഗണപതി, അയ്യപ്പൻ, ഭദ്രകാളി, നാഗദേവതകൾ എന്നിവർക്കായി പ്രത്യേകം സന്നിധികൾ ഇവിടെ സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നു.
മകരമാസത്തിൽ തൈപ്പൂയം ഉത്സവം, ആറാട്ടോടു കൂടി എട്ടുദിവസം നീണ്ടുനില്ക്കുന്നു. കുംഭമാസത്തിലെ ശിവരാത്രി, ധനുമാസത്തിലെ തിരുവാതിര, തുലാമാസത്തിലെ സ്കന്ദഷഷ്ഠി എന്നിവയും ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ പ്രധാന ഉത്സവങ്ങളാണ്. കൊച്ചിൻ ദേവസ്വം ബോർഡ് ആണ് ഈ മഹാക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ ഭരണനിർവ്വഹണം നടത്തുന്നത്.
