Manakkad Narasimha Swamy Temple is an ancient place of worship situated in the Manakkad Panchayat within the Thodupuzha Taluk. The principal deity of this temple is Narasimha Swamy.
The festival occurs on the day of Thiruvonam in the month of Makara. Additionally, there are subordinate deities associated with Shiva and Bhagwati. Lord Sree Narasimha Swamy is an incarnation of God Vishnu, manifesting as a being that is part lion and part man, with the purpose of vanquishing evil and alleviating religious oppression and disasters on Earth, thus reinstating Dharma.
Recognizing the formidable power of the demon, Vishnu ingeniously transforms into a hybrid avatar that transcends the boundaries of man and beast, ultimately defeating the demon at the threshold of day and night, both within and without.
Narasimha is predominantly revered as the 'Great Protector,' who specifically safeguards his devotees from malevolence. The most renowned narrative surrounding Narasimha is the tale of his protection of his devotee Prahlada, during which he creatively annihilates Prahlada's demonic father, the tyrant Hiranyakashipu.
