Sri Krishna temple located in Muttom was constructed by Arjuna, the third brother among the Pandavas. The temple is oriented towards the East. During their period of exile, the Pandavas established five Sri Krishna temples in this region while residing near Thodupuzha.
Thodupuzha, situated in the Idukki district, is home to five prominent temples dedicated to Lord Krishna. These temples are positioned in proximity to the town's boundaries and include Thodupuzha, Kolani, Muttam, Edavetti, and Perumbillichira.
Muttom Srikrishna Swamy Temple festival occurs during the month of Medam. The festivities commence with the Kodiyettu ceremony conducted by the temple's Tantri, Periamana Narayanan Namboothiri. The celebration concludes on the eighth day with the Aarattezhunnalippu procession from Mathappara Arattukadavu to the temple. Visiting all the temples in a single day is regarded as a highly virtuous act. During the month of Vaishakha (April – May), thousands of devotees flock to these temples in a single day.
മുട്ടം ശ്രീകൃഷ്ണസ്വാമി ക്ഷേത്രം, തൊടുപുഴ
മുട്ടം എന്നത് ഇടുക്കി ജില്ലയിലെ തൊടുപുഴ താലൂക്കിൽ സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന ഒരു ഗ്രാമമാണ്. തൊടുപുഴയിൽ നിന്നും 8 കിലോമീറ്റർ അകലെ സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന പുരാതന ക്ഷേത്രമാണ് മുട്ടം ശ്രീകൃഷ്ണസ്വാമി ക്ഷേത്രം. ഇവിടെ അഞ്ച് പ്രധാന ശ്രീകൃഷ്ണക്ഷേത്രങ്ങൾ സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നു. പട്ടണാതിർത്തിയോട് ചേർന്നാണ് ഈ ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങൾ സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നത്.
വനവാസക്കാലത്ത് പാണ്ഡവർ തൊടുപുഴയുടെ പരിസരങ്ങളിൽ തങ്ങിയ സമയത്ത്, ഈ പ്രദേശത്തും അഞ്ചു ശ്രീകൃഷ്ണക്ഷേത്രങ്ങൾ സ്ഥാപിക്കപ്പെട്ടു. അവയിൽ തൊടുപുഴ, കോലാനി, മുട്ടം, ഇടവെട്ടി, പെരുമ്പിള്ളിച്ചിറ എന്നിവ ഉൾപ്പെടുന്നു. അർജുനൻ, ദേവേന്ദ്രന്റെ പുത്രൻ, മുട്ടം ശ്രീകൃഷ്ണസ്വാമി ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ പ്രതിഷ്ഠ നടത്തിയത്.
കിഴക്കോട്ടാണ് ദർശനം. മുട്ടം ശ്രീകൃഷ്ണസ്വാമി ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ ഉത്സവം മേടമാസത്തിൽ നടക്കുന്നു. ഈ ഉത്സവത്തിന്, ക്ഷേത്രം തന്ത്രി പെരിയമന നാരായണൻ നമ്പൂതിരിയുടെ നേതൃത്വത്തിൽ കൊടിയേറ്റോടെ ആരംഭിച്ചു. 8-ാം ദിവസത്തിൽ, മാത്തപ്പാറ ആറാട്ടുകടവിലെ ആറാട്ടിന് ശേഷം, ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലേക്കുള്ള ആറാട്ടെഴുന്നള്ളിപ്പോടെ കൊടിയിറക്കുന്നു.
