Kannapuram Kizhakke Kavu is a prominent temple located in Kannapuram, Kannur district, Kerala.
The temple is known for its deep association with the ritual art form of Theyyam—a vibrant folk tradition where performers, adorned in elaborate costumes and makeup, take on the identities of gods, goddesses, and ancestral spirits through trance-like dances. കണ്ണപുരം കിഴക്കേക്കാവ് ഭഗവതിക്ഷേത്രം കണ്ണൂരിലെ മഹത്തായ ഒരു താന്ത്രികക്ഷേത്രമാണ്, ദുർഗ്ഗാദേവിയുടെ വിവിധ ഭാവങ്ങളായ മഹാലക്ഷ്മി, മഹാസരസ്വതി, മഹാകാളി എന്നിവയെ തൃഗുണാത്മികയായി ഒരു ശ്രീകോവിലിനകത്ത് ഒരുമിച്ച് ആരാധിക്കുന്ന അപൂർവമായ ദേവാലയങ്ങളിലൊന്നായി ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം പ്രശസ്തമാണ്. തുലാമാസത്തിലെ തൃപ്പുത്തരി, ധനുമാസത്തിലെ കളിയാട്ട മഹോത്സവം, മീനമാസത്തിലെ പൂരപ്പറമ്പ് തുടങ്ങി വർഷത്തിലുടനീളം ആചാരപരമായ നിരവധി ചടങ്ങുകൾക്കും ഉത്സവങ്ങൾക്കുമായി ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം കേന്ദ്രമാകുന്നു.കളിയാട്ട മഹോത്സവം വളരെ വിപുലമായി ആചരിക്കുന്ന ചടങ്ങാണ്. ധനുമാസം 5-ാം തീയതി കൊടിയേറ്റ് ആരംഭിച്ച് 11 മുതൽ 15 വരെ തെയ്യങ്ങൾക്കും പുറാട്ടുകൾക്കും നിറഞ്ഞ ഭക്തിസാന്ദ്രതയുള്ള ചടങ്ങുകളായിരിക്കും നടക്കുന്നത്.
ഈ മഹോത്സവത്തിൽ അത്തരം തെയ്യങ്ങൾ അരങ്ങേറും: ശങ്കരകാളാ മാഞ്ഞാളിയമ്മ, ചുഴലിഭഗവതി, കോലസ്വരൂപത്തിങ്കൽതായി, ധർമ്മദൈവം, പുലിയൂരുകണ്ണൻ, നെടുബാലിയൻ, വെട്ടയ്ക്കൊരുമകൻ, നാഗകന്നിയമ്മ, ഇളംകോലം, രക്തചാമുണ്ഡി, വിഷ്ണുമൂർത്തി, വയനാട്ടുകുലവൻ എന്നിവയും; പുറാട്ടുകളായ പനിയന്മാർ, ഇളയമ്മയും മൂത്തമ്മയും, നബോലൻ, മാപ്പിള പുറാട്ട് എന്നിവയും മഹോത്സവത്തിന്റെ ഭാഗമാകുന്നു. ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ താന്ത്രിക അനുഷ്ഠാനങ്ങൾ അതീവപ്രധാനമാണ്. പൂജാകർമ്മങ്ങൾ കാൽപിണച്ചുവച്ച് നിലകൊണ്ടുകൊണ്ടാണ് നടത്തുന്നത്.
ഭദ്രകാളി ദേവിയുടെ ദാരികവധം ‘നാന്ദകവാൾ’ ഉപയോഗിച്ചാണ് നിർവഹിക്കുന്നത്, അതുപോലെ കളിയാട്ടത്തിൽ ദേവിയുടെ അസുരവധം അതേ വാൾകൊണ്ടുതന്നെയാണ് നടത്തി ആരാധിക്കുന്നത്. ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ ഭൗതികക്രമീകരണങ്ങളും പ്രധാന ദേവതകൾക്കും ഉപദേവതകൾക്കും നിർദ്ദിഷ്ടമായ ആരാധനാകേന്ദ്രങ്ങളും (പള്ളിയറകൾ, നാഗസ്ഥാനങ്ങൾ, തീർത്ഥപടവുകൾ, ഗുരുപീഠങ്ങൾ തുടങ്ങിയവ) ഭക്തജനങ്ങൾക്ക് ആഴത്തിലുള്ള ആത്മീയാനുഭവം നൽകുന്നു.
