Manakadavu Mahavishnu Temple is a serene and traditional temple located in Mankadavu, Kannur district, Kerala.
Manakadavu Mahavishnu Temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and showcases classic Kerala temple architecture, featuring a Chathura Sreekovil (square sanctum sanctorum), Namaskara Mandapam, Chuttambalam, and a Kodimaram (flag mast). Adding to its tranquil ambiance, the Kuppam River gently flows beside the temple.
Historically, the temple was under the ownership of the Poonjar Thampurans, a royal family with deep spiritual ties. The temple's annual festival begins in April with the vibrant Kalavara Nirakkal Ghoshayathra, a grand ceremonial procession. This festival is renowned for its elaborate Vaishnava rituals, special poojas, and vibrant cultural programs including classical temple arts, traditional music, and folk performances.
Throughout the year, the temple conducts important Vaishnava rituals such as Ekadashi observances and Saptahams.
It also celebrates key occasions in the Hindu calendar like Vishu, Ramayana Masam, Niraputhari, Thiruvonam, Prathishta Dinam, Navratri with Vidyarambham, and Thrikarthika with great devotion. One of the major annual observances here is the Karkidaka Vavu Bali, held on Amavasya (new moon day) in the month of Karkidakam, where hundreds of devotees gather to perform Pitru Tarpanam (offerings to ancestors). The temple authorities make special arrangements to accommodate the devotees and ensure smooth conduct of the Bali Tharpanam rituals.

മണക്കടവ് ശ്രീ മഹാവിഷ്ണുക്ഷേത്രം
കണ്ണൂർ ജില്ലയിലെ ആലക്കോട്ടിന് സമീപം മനോഹരമായ പ്രകൃതിദൃശ്യങ്ങളോട് ചേർന്ന് നിലകൊള്ളുന്ന ക്ഷേത്രമാണ് മണക്കടവ് ശ്രീ മഹാവിഷ്ണു ക്ഷേത്രം. കണ്ണൂർ നഗരത്തിൽ നിന്ന് ഏകദേശം 52 കിലോമീറ്റർ ദൂരത്തിൽ, കിഴക്കൻ മലയോര മേഖലയായ ആലക്കോട്ടിൽ നിന്ന് 10.6 കിലോമീറ്റർ അകലെ ഉദയഗിരി പഞ്ചായത്ത് പരിധിയിൽ ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നു.
25 വർഷത്തോളം നശിച്ചു കിടന്നിരുന്ന ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം, നാട്ടുകാരുടെയും ഭക്തജനങ്ങളുടെയും ഏകാഗ്രമായ ശ്രമഫലമായി വീണ്ടും പുനരുദ്ധരിക്കപ്പെട്ടു. ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ പ്രധാന പ്രതിഷ്ഠ മഹാവിഷ്ണുവാണ്. പ്രാചീന കേരള പൈതൃകശൈലിയിലുള്ള ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം, നാലുവശത്തും വെള്ളം കൊണ്ട് ചുറ്റപ്പെട്ട മനോഹരമായ സാഹചര്യത്തിൽ നിലകൊള്ളുന്നു.
ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ മറ്റൊരു പ്രധാന പ്രതിഷ്ഠ വനദുര്‍ഗ്ഗയാണ്, അതിനാൽ തന്നെ ക്ഷേത്രം ശാന്തമായ ദൈവിക ചൈതന്യത്താൽ നിറഞ്ഞതാണ്.പടയോട്ടം കാലഘട്ടത്തിൽ നശിച്ച പല ദൈവാലയങ്ങളും ഇത്തരമൊരു ശക്തമായ ദൈവസന്നിധി വീണ്ടും നിലനിറുത്തിയതിന്റെ ഉദാഹരണങ്ങളാണ് മണക്കടവ് ശ്രീ മഹാവിഷ്ണു ക്ഷേത്രവും, അരങ്ങം മഹാദേവ ക്ഷേത്രവും. ഇവ രണ്ടും തന്നെ ആലക്കോട്ടിലെ കിഴക്കൻ മലപ്രദേശങ്ങളിൽ സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന പ്രാധാന്യമുള്ള ആരാധനാലയങ്ങളാണ്.
