Aryakatyayini Sri Mahadevi Temple, located in Korakodu, Kasaragod, is one of the few temples dedicated to the Maratha Kshatriya community in the Dakshina Kannada district.
Aryakatyayini Sri Mahadevi Temple's origins trace back to the Dharekar family, originally residing in Bolar, Mangalore, who later relocated to Korakodu in Kasaragod.
In 1908, Sri Annoji Rao, the eldest son of Bolara Puttoji Rao, was divinely possessed by the Goddess in the Devara Mane of the Dharekar family. Recognizing this divine occurrence, Sri Puttoji Rao constructed a family temple on February 25, 1910.
Initially known as Marigudi, the temple gradually gained prominence as the “Arya Katyayini Sri Mahadevi Temple.”
The presiding deities of the temple are Goddess Bhadrakali and Goddess Durga, with Bhairava and Pashanamurthis also worshipped here. The temple, founded by Sri Puttoji Rao Dharekar, was managed by Sri Annoji Rao, Sri Durgoji Rao, and Sri Sanjeeva Rao as its initial trustees. Currently, the temple administration is overseen by Sri Purushottam Rao, the present Managing Trustee.
Marking a significant milestone, the temple completed its centenary celebrations in 2010, honoring a century of devotion and spiritual legacy.
ആര്യകാത്ത്യായിനി ശ്രീ മഹാദേവി ക്ഷേത്രം
കാസർഗോഡ് നഗരത്തിന്റെ ഹൃദയഭാഗത്ത്, പട്ടണത്തിൽ നിന്ന് ഏകദേശം 450 മീറ്റർ അകലത്തിൽ സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്ന പുരാതനവും പ്രശസ്തവുമായ ക്ഷേത്രമാണ് കൊറക്കോട് ആര്യകാത്ത്യായിനി ശ്രീ മഹാദേവി ക്ഷേത്രം.
1908 മുതൽ 1910 വരെയുള്ള കാലഘട്ടത്തിൽ ധരേക്കർ കുടുംബത്തിലെ പ്രധാന വാസസ്ഥലമായ തറവാട് വീട്ടിൽ ശ്രീ മഹാദേവിക്ക് സമർപ്പിച്ച് പൂജാവിധികൾ നടന്നു വരികയായിരുന്നു.
പിന്നീട്, ശ്രീ പുട്ടോജി റാവ് ധരേക്കർ ഭക്തജനങ്ങൾക്കും കുടുംബാംഗങ്ങൾക്കും ആരാധനയ്ക്കായി 1910 ഫെബ്രുവരി 25-ന് ക്ഷേത്രം സ്ഥാപിച്ചു. അതിന് ശേഷം ശ്രീ കേശവ തന്ത്രിയുടെ കാർമ്മികത്വത്തിൽ 1910 ജൂലൈ 1 മുതൽ 9 വരെ പ്രതിഷ്ഠാ അഷ്ടബന്ധ ബ്രഹ്മകലശോത്സവം സംഘടിപ്പിക്കപ്പെട്ടു.
ആരംഭഘട്ടത്തിൽ മാരിഗുഡി എന്ന പേരിൽ അറിയപ്പെട്ടിരുന്ന ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം പിന്നീട് ആര്യകാത്ത്യായിനി ശ്രീ മഹാദേവി ക്ഷേത്രം എന്ന പേരിൽ അറിയപ്പെടുന്നത്.2020 ഡിസംബർ 2 മുതൽ 3 വരെ ശ്രീക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ പ്രസിദ്ധ ജ്യോതിഷി തച്ചങ്ങാട് സഞ്ജയ്യു ടെ നേതൃത്വത്തിൽ നടന്ന താംബൂല പ്രശ്ന വിധിയിലാണ് അടുത്തത് ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ അഷ്ടബന്ധ ബ്രഹ്മകലശോത്സവം നിർബന്ധമായും നടത്തേണ്ടതാണെന്ന് സൂചിപ്പിച്ചത്.
പ്രശ്ന ചിന്തയിൽ, ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ പരിവാര ദേവതകളായ ഭൈരവനും പഷണ സന്നിധികൾക്കും പ്രത്യേക ശ്രീകോവിൽ നിർമ്മിച്ച് പ്രതിഷ്ഠിക്കേണ്ടതാണെന്നും, ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ തീർത്ഥകിണർ, മുഖ്യ കവാടത്തിലെ ഗോപുരം, ചുറ്റു ഗോപുര നവീകരണം, ഭോജനശാലയുടെ പുനർനിർമ്മാണം തുടങ്ങിയ നിരവധി നവീകരണ പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങൾ നടത്തേണ്ടതാണെന്ന് വ്യക്തമായും കാണിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.
