Mulavannur Bhagavathi Temple, one of the oldest temples in Kasaragod district, is located near Parakkalai in Kotom Belur Panchayath.
It is one of the four significant temples of the Maniyani community, along with Kannoth, Kappat, and Kallot. Although there is no concrete historical evidence regarding its origin, numerous legends are associated with the temple.
It is believed that the Goddess arrived at Mulavannur on the first Tuesday of the month of Vrischikam, a tradition still observed through various rituals. The temple celebrates several important festivals, including Nithya Pooja, Nithyanivedyam, Anthithiri, Niraputhari, Thulaputhari, Chovva Vilakku, Thannilamruth, and Thirumuttappani.
Major annual festivals include the procession to Madian Temple with the pedestal on Dhanu 28, Kaliyattam in Makaram, Thayangoda Vishnumoorthy festival in May, Kaliyattam at Pottan Devasthanam, Shivaratri Mahotsavam, a nine-day pre-festival in Karthika, and the Marathukali festival leading up to the grand Vishnu and Bhagavathi Seva celebration.

കാസർഗോഡ് ജില്ലയിലെ പുരാതന ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളിൽ ഒന്നായ മുളവന്നൂർ ഭഗവതി ക്ഷേത്രം കോടോം-ബേളൂർ പഞ്ചായത്തിൽ പറക്കളായിക്കു സമീപം സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നു. വൃശ്ചിക മാസത്തിലെ ആദ്യത്തെ ചൊവ്വാഴ്ച ദേവി മുളവന്നൂരിലേക്ക് എത്തിയതായുള്ള വിശ്വാസം നിലനിൽക്കുന്നു, അതുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട് ഇന്ന് വരെ വിവിധ ആചാരാനുഷ്ഠാനങ്ങൾ നടന്നു വരുന്നുണ്ട്.
ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ പ്രധാന ഉത്സവങ്ങളിൽ നിത്യപൂജ, നിത്യനിവേദ്യം, അന്തിത്തിരി, നിറപുത്തരി, തുലാപുത്തരി, വൃശ്ചികത്തിലെ ഒന്നാം ചൊവ്വാഴ്ച അരിത്രാവൽ അടിയന്തിരം, ചൊവ്വാ വിളക്ക്, തണ്ണിലാമൃത്, ധനുമാസത്തിൽ തിരുമുറ്റപ്പണി, ധനു 28-ാം തീയതി മഡിയൻ ക്ഷേത്രപാലക ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലേക്ക് പീഠസമേതമുള്ള എഴുന്നെള്ളത്ത്, മകരമാസത്തിലെ കളിയാട്ടം, മേടമാസത്തിലെ തായങ്കൊട വിഷ്ണുമൂർത്തി ഉത്സവം, പൊട്ടൻ ദേവസ്ഥാനത്ത് കളിയാട്ടം, ശിവരാത്രി മഹോത്സവം, മീനമാസത്തിലെ കാർത്തിക തൊട്ടുള്ള ഒമ്പതുദിവസത്തെ പൂരോത്സവം, പൂരോത്സവത്തോടൊപ്പം നടക്കുന്ന മറത്തുകളി, വിഷ്ണുവിനും ഭഗവതിക്കും സമർപ്പിച്ചുള്ള പ്രതിഷ്ഠാദിനാചരണം എന്നിവ ഉൾപ്പെടുന്നു.
മുളവന്നൂർ ഭഗവതി ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ കളിയാട്ട മഹോത്സവം മൂന്നു ദിവസം നീണ്ടുനിൽക്കും. ആദ്യദിവസം രാവിലെ കലവറ നിറയ്ക്കൽ നടന്നു രാത്രി തെയ്യക്കോലങ്ങളുടെ തിടങ്ങൽ നടത്തപ്പെടും. രണ്ടാമത്തെ ദിവസം രാവിലെ അടുക്കത്ത് ചാമുണ്ഡിയമ്മയുടെ പുറപ്പാടിന് ശേഷം രാത്രിയിൽ തിരുമുടി കാഴ്ച സമർപ്പിക്കും. മൂന്നാം ദിവസം ഉച്ചയ്ക്ക് വിഷ്ണുമൂർത്തിയുടെ പുറപ്പാട് തുടർന്ന് ഭഗവതിയുടെ തിരുമുടി എടുക്കൽ, ഗുളികൻ തെയ്യത്തിന്റെ അവതാരത്തോടെ ഉത്സവത്തിന് ഔപചാരികമായി സമാപനം കുറിക്കും. ഉത്സവദിവസങ്ങളിൽ ഭക്തർക്കായി അന്നദാനം നൽകുന്നതും പ്രധാന ആചാരങ്ങളിൽ ഒന്നാണ്.
