Shedikavu Sri Sankaranarayana Temple is an ancient and renowned temple located in Kumbla, Kasaragod.
Situated just 1.3 km from Kumbla and 14.3 km from Kasaragod, this temple holds immense spiritual significance. The concept of Sankaranarayana has an interesting legend behind it. Once, a dispute arose between the devotees of Lord Vishnu (Vaishnavas) and Lord Shiva (Shaivas) over which deity was more powerful.
To resolve the conflict and enlighten the devotees, Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu appeared in a combined form as Shankaranarayana—one half as Shiva and the other half as Vishnu. This divine manifestation united the devotees, who then worshipped them together as Sankaranarayana, symbolizing the oneness of Hari (Vishnu) and Hara (Shiva).
