Anandavalleeswaram Sri Mahadevar Temple, located in the city of Kollam, is one of the historic Hindu temples in Kerala, India, dedicated to Lord Shiva and Goddess Anandavally.
The temple is one of the 108 renowned Shiva temples located in Kerala. It can be found in Anandavalleeswaram, a significant neighborhood within Kollam city, situated to the west of the Kollam Collectorate. The main Sanctum Sanctorum of the Anandavalleeswaram Sri Mahadevar temple dates back 1200 years and is constructed from teak wood. Notably, this temple is unique in India as it houses the deities of Sree Krishnan, Maha Vishnu, Bhoomi Devi, and Lakshmi Devi, all consecrated as idols within a single structure. The temple is situated in Kollam city and is believed to have been established by sage Parasurama in honor of Shiva.
It is one of the three Mahadeva temples in Kollam city mentioned in the 108 Shivalaya Sothram, alongside the Kollam Rameswaram Mahadeva Temple and the Thrikkadavoor Mahadeva Temple. The principal deity of the temple is Lord Shiva, who is positioned facing west in the main Sanctum Sanctorum, while his consort, Devi Parvathy, is also located within the same sanctum, facing east. The Lord Shiva of this temple is referred to as Ananda Swaroopan, and Devi Parvathy is known as Swayamvara Parvathy (Anandavally). It is believed that both deities exist in a state of bliss, which is reflected in the temple's name, Anandavalleeswaram (with 'Anandam' meaning 'Joy' in Malayalam). Originally, the temple was dedicated solely to Lord Shiva, with Devi Parvati being consecrated later in the form of Anandavally. Although the garbagriha of Devi Parvati is the first one encountered upon entering, visitors are expected to enter the temple through the door that leads to the sanctum sanctorum of Lord Shiva.
The sub-deities include Ganapathy, Murugan, Sree Krishnan, Hanuman Swamy, Swamy Ayyappan, Maha Vishnu, Lakshmi Devi, Bhoomi Devi, and Naga Devathas.The shrine devoted to Maha Vishnu, along with his two consorts and Sree Krishnan, is unique, as it stands as the sole temple globally featuring this particular arrangement. Furthermore, it is the only temple in Kerala that houses both Shiva and Vishnu alongside their respective consorts.
The annual celebration at Anandavalleeswaram Mahadevar Temple spans ten days during the months of March and April (corresponding to the Malayalam month of Meenam). This festival commences with the traditional 'Thrikodiyettu' and includes various rituals such as the Pallivetta, Arattu, Aratu Ethirelpu, Ezhunallathu, Kazhcha Sribali, and the Kettukazhcha ritual. Additionally, the festival features a range of cultural programs, including dance performances, dramas, musical events, and a pyrotechnic display. Another significant event celebrated at the temple each year is the Sivarathri festival. The temple's tantric rites are associated with Thazhamon Madom in Chengannoor.The primary services provided include Abhishekam, Ganapathy Homam, Mrithyunjaya Homam, Ashtotharchana, Muzhukappu, Pushpamjali, among various others.

ആനന്ദവല്ലീശ്വരം ക്ഷേത്രം കേരളത്തിലെ കൊല്ലം നഗരത്തിലുള്ള ഒരു പുരാതന ശിവക്ഷേത്രമാണ്, 108 ശിവക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളിൽ ഉൾപ്പെടുന്ന സ്ഥലങ്ങളിൽ പറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്ന കൊല്ലത്തിലെ പ്രധാന മൂന്ന് ശിവക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളിൽ ഒന്നാണിത്. മറ്റു രണ്ട് ശിവക്ഷേത്രങ്ങൾ കൊല്ലം രാമേശ്വരം മഹാദേവക്ഷേത്രവും തൃക്കടവൂർ മഹാദേവക്ഷേത്രവുമാണ്. ക്ഷേത്രം പരശുരാമൻ പ്രതിഷ്ഠ ചെയ്തതാണെന്ന് വിശ്വസിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു. ഇവിടെ പടിഞ്ഞാറോട്ടുള്ള ദർശനത്തിലാണ് ശിവൻ അനുഗ്രഹം നൽകുന്നത്, കൂടെ പാർവ്വതിയെ ആനന്ദവല്ലി എന്ന രൂപത്തിൽ പ്രതിഷ്ഠിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.
ആദ്യം ശിവൻ മാത്രം പ്രതിഷ്ഠിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നുവെങ്കിലും, ശിവന്റെ രൗദ്രഭാവം സമാധാനിപ്പിക്കാൻ പാർവ്വതിയെ കൂടി ഇവിടെ സ്ഥാപിച്ചതാണെന്ന് ഒരു വിശ്വാസം. എന്നാൽ, ക്ഷേത്ര പ്രവേശനത്തിനായി ശിവന്റെ നടയിലൂടെ മാത്രമേ പ്രവേശനം അനുവദിക്കപ്പെട്ടിട്ടുള്ളൂ. ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ വിഷ്ണുവും, സ്മരികാരമായ ശ്രീകൃഷ്ണനും ദേവിയുടെ കൂടെ ഒരു ഏക ശ്രീകോവിൽ ഉൾപ്പെടുന്നു, ശിവനും വിഷ്ണുവും അവരുടെ സഖികളുമായി ഉള്ള കേരളത്തിലെ ഏക ക്ഷേത്രമാണ് ആനന്ദവല്ലീശ്വരം.
ആനന്ദവല്ലീശ്വരം ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ പ്രധാന ദേവനായ ശിവന്റെ കൂടെ ഗണപതി, അയ്യപ്പൻ, സുബ്രഹ്മണ്യൻ, നാഗദേവതകൾ, നവഗ്രഹങ്ങൾ എന്നിവ ഉപദേവതകളായി വാഴുന്നു. മീനമാസത്തിൽ പത്തു ദിവസം നീണ്ടുനിൽക്കുന്ന പൈങ്കുനി ഉത്സവം കൊടിയേറ്റോടെ ആരംഭിച്ച് ചോതി നക്ഷത്രത്തിൽ ആറാട്ടോടെ സമാപിക്കുന്നു. ശിവരാത്രി, നവരാത്രി, മണ്ഡലപൂജ തുടങ്ങിയ പ്രധാന ആഘോഷങ്ങൾ ഭക്തിപൂർവ്വം ആചരിക്കുന്നു.
