These represent the primary special occasions celebrated at the temple.
അഷ്ടമംഗലം ശ്രീ മഹാവിഷ്ണു, ശ്രീ ഭഗവതി ക്ഷേത്രം
കൊല്ലം ജില്ലയിൽ പുനലൂരിൽ നിന്നും 4.7 കിലോമീറ്റർ അകലെയുള്ള അഷ്ടമംഗലം ശ്രീ മഹാവിഷ്ണു, ശ്രീ ഭഗവതി ക്ഷേത്രം മഹാവിഷ്ണുവിനും ദുർഗ്ഗാദേവിക്കും സമർപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന പ്രമുഖ ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളിലൊന്നാണ്. ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്‍റെ പേരിനു കാരണം "അഷ്ടമംഗലങ്ങൾ" എന്ന വിശേഷണമാണ്. അഷ്ടമംഗലങ്ങൾ, അഥവാ ബ്രാഹ്മണൻ, പശു, അഗ്നി, സ്വർണ്ണം, നെല്ല്, ആദിത്യൻ, രാജാവ്, ജലം എന്നിവ ലോകത്തിന്റെ നിലനിൽപ്പിനും ആശ്രയമായ മൂലഘടകങ്ങൾ എന്നാണ്.
ശ്രീദുർഗ്ഗയുടെ ശക്തിയും മഹാവിഷ്ണുവിന്റെ സംരക്ഷണവും ഒരു നിലയിലേയ്ക്ക് വരുന്നതായി ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ പ്രത്യക്ഷപ്പെടുന്നു.
മീനമാസത്തിലെ എട്ട് ദിവസം നീണ്ടുനിൽക്കുന്ന ഉത്സവം കൊടിയേറ്റോടെ ആരംഭിച്ച് കൊടിയിറക്കത്തോടെ സമാപിക്കുന്നു. കുംഭമാസത്തിലെ പൊങ്കാല, ഭാഗവത സപ്താഹം, ചിങ്ങത്തിലെ തിരുവോണം, വിനായക ചതുർത്ഥി, കന്നി മാസത്തിലെ പൂജവയ്പ്പ്, വിദ്യാരംഭം, തുലാമാസത്തിലെ ആയില്യംപൂജ, രാമായണമാസം, നരസിംഹ ജയന്തി, അഷ്ടമിരോഹിണി, വിഷു, വൈകുണ്ഠ ഏകാദശി എന്നിവയെല്ലാം ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ പ്രത്യേക ആചാരങ്ങളോടെ ആചരിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു.
