Manakkad Sreedharma Shasta Temple is situated merely 2 kilometers from the town of Kollam. It is positioned next to the Ashram Sri Krishna Temple.
The temple's main deity is Lord Ayyappa, depicted in a rare form riding an elephant. It is also one of the few Ayyappa temples where women can have darshan by climbing the sacred eighteen steps. The temple offers all necessary facilities for devotees who come from faraway places. Like at Sabarimala, the temple holds a procession with the Thiruvabharanam (sacred ornaments of Ayyappa).
Important festivals celebrated here include Mandalapooja, Makaravilakku, Ramayana Masam, and Shivaratri, all marked by special rituals and offerings. Mandala Pooja is celebrated for 41 days, starting on the first day of the Malayalam month of Vrishchikam and ending on the eleventh day of Dhanu. During this time, daily bhajans and purana recitations are held. The final day ends with the Azhipooja and Ayyappan Pattu, where devotees sing songs praising Lord Ayyappa with a special percussion instrument called the Udukku. A popular song in this tradition describes the birth of Lord Ayyappa.
Makaravilakku is another important celebration, with Neyyabhishekam (ghee offering) being the main ritual, performed from 6 am to 7 am on Makara Sankranti day. Next to the temple is a sacred Nagakavu, home to rare trees and revered Naga gods. Sarpa Pujas and Pulluvanpattu, rituals to overcome serpent-related doshas and bless devotees with children, are also performed here.

കൊല്ലം പട്ടണത്തിൽ നിന്ന് വെറും 2 കിലോമീറ്റർ അകലെയാണ് മനോഹരമായ മണക്കാട് ശ്രീധർമ്മ ശാസ്താ ക്ഷേത്രം സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നത്. ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം ആശ്രമം ശ്രീകൃഷ്ണ ക്ഷേത്രത്തോടുകൂടി, അഷ്ടമുടി കായലിന്റെ മൂന്നു വശങ്ങളും ചുറ്റിപ്പറ്റിയ മനോഹരമായ സ്ഥലത്താണ് നിലകൊള്ളുന്നത്. ശബരിമലയിലെ പതിനെട്ടു പടികളോട് സമാനമായി, തെക്കൻ കേരളത്തിലെ ഏക ശാസ്താക്ഷേത്രം കൂടിയായ ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ ആനപ്പുറത്തിരിക്കുന്ന അയ്യപ്പൻ പ്രതിഷ്ഠയുണ്ട്. സ്ത്രീകൾക്കും പതിനെട്ടു പടി ചവിട്ടി ദർശനം നടത്താൻ കഴിയുന്ന അപൂർവമായ ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം, ശബരിമല തീർഥാടകരുടെ ഇടത്താവളമായും പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്നു.
മണ്ഡലപൂജ, മകരവിളക്ക്, രാമായണമാസം, ശിവരാത്രി എന്നിവ ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ പ്രധാന ആഘോഷങ്ങളാണ്. മക്കൾ ധാരാളം ശബരിമലയിലേക്ക് ദർശനം നടത്താൻ ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ നിന്ന് ഇരുമുടികെട്ട് പോകാറുണ്ട്. ദൂരെ പ്രദേശങ്ങളിൽ നിന്ന് എത്തുന്ന ഭക്തർക്കായി സൗകര്യങ്ങൾ ഒരുക്കിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. ശബരിമലയിലേത് പോലെ തന്നെ തിരുവാഭരണ ഘോഷയാത്രയും ഇവിടെ നടത്തപ്പെടുന്നു.
ക്ഷേത്രത്തോട് ചേർന്ന് വലിയ കാവും സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നു. ഈ കാവിൽ അപൂർവമായ വൃക്ഷലതാദികളുള്ളതും നാഗദേവതകൾ വസിക്കുന്നതുമായ വിശുദ്ധ സ്ഥലമാണ്. സർപ്പദോഷം തീർക്കാൻ വേണ്ടി പുള്ളുവൻപാട്ടും സർപ്പപൂജകളും ഇവിടെ വിശേഷ പ്രാധാന്യം നൽകപ്പെടുന്നു.
