Attuvassery Dharmashasta Temple is dedicated to the worship of Dharma Shasta, the principal deity of the temple, which has a history spanning thousands of years.
Attuvassery Sri Dharmashasta Temple is graced by the divine presence of Kaliyugavaradan and Abhisthasiddhipradayaka Sri Dharmashasta, who safeguards the entire region and contributes to the prosperity of the nation. This temple serves as a sanctuary for countless devotees, who affirm that numerous tangible manifestations of blessings are bestowed upon those who seek their grace, both within the country and in neighboring regions. Adjacent to the temple lies a Kavu, and a pond is situated in front of the temple.
The administration of the temple is overseen by the NSS, and it also houses sub-deities including Shiva, Ganapati, and the Naga Gods. The Utram Mahotsava, an annual festival at the Attuvassery Dharmashasta Temple, takes place in the month of Dhanu. This nine-day celebration commences with the Trikodiyettam and concludes following the Palliveta and Aarattu. Notably, the 'community Neeranjanam' held during the festival attracts a significant number of devotees who come to partake in this offering. The rituals initiate with the lighting of a fire in the Agnikund, which is situated at the base of the flagpole and performed by the temple's Tantri. The Community Neerajanavilakku is a highly regarded ritual at the Attuvassery Sri Dharmashasta Temple.
It is noteworthy that, in contrast to the regular Neerajanavilakku ceremonies conducted at the temple, this particular event occurs only once a year, specifically on the first day preceding the Utram Tirunal, and is overseen by the temple Tantri. The Neerajanavilakku during the Mahotsa day is particularly significant, as the Tantri personally prepares the Neerajanam for each devotee, enhancing the divine presence through Tantric practices. Both devotees and attendees hold the belief that the Neerajana offering, dedicated to Lord Shasta, is the most effective means of alleviating the afflictions associated with Shanidasa, Azharashani, Kandakashani, and Ashtamashani, thereby fostering peace and prosperity. On the day of Neerajanamhotsavam, the Neerajana lamp within the shrine is ignited following the lighting of the fire in the Maha Homakundam, located in front of the Dhwaja Pratishtha, at 4 PM. Traditional artistic expressions, including music and dance, are showcased through a vibrant procession featuring adorned Gajaveeras, kettukazhcha, melam, and fireworks. The festival includes Ulsavabali, along with various religious and cultural programs and discourses, all conducted in a ritualistic manner at the temple. The temple's 41-day Mandalachirap Mahotsav is particularly renowned during the Mandala period.

ആറ്റുവാശ്ശേരി ധർമ്മശാസ്താ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ വാർഷിക ഉത്സവം ധനുമാസത്തിൽ ഉത്രം മഹോത്സവമായി ആഘോഷിക്കുന്നു. ഒമ്പത് ദിവസങ്ങളോളം നീണ്ടുനിൽക്കുന്ന ഈ ഉത്സവം തൃക്കൊടിയേറ്റത്തോടുകൂടി ആരംഭിച്ച്, പള്ളിവേട്ടയും ആറാട്ടും കഴിഞ്ഞ് തൃക്കൊടിയിറങ്ങുന്നു. ഭഗവാന്റെ ആറാട്ട് കല്ലടയാറ്റിലാണ്. ഉത്രം തിരുനാളിന്റെ തലേദിവസം നടക്കുന്ന സമൂഹ നീരാജ്ഞനം ഏറെ പ്രശസ്തമാണ്. നിരവധി ഭക്തർ ഈ വഴിപാടിനായി ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ എത്തിച്ചേരുന്നു. ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ തന്ത്രി കൊടിമരച്ചുവട്ടിലെ അഗ്നികുണ്ഠത്തിൽ അഗ്നി പകരുന്നതോടെ ചടങ്ങുകൾ ആരംഭിക്കുന്നു.

നീരാജനമഹോത്സവത്തിന്റെ ദിവസം വൈകിട്ട് 4 മണിക്ക് ധ്വജപ്രതിഷ്ഠയ്ക്കു മുന്നിൽ സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന മഹാഹോമകുണ്ഠത്തിൽ അഗ്നി ജ്വലിപ്പിക്കുന്നതോടെ ശ്രീകോവിലിനുള്ളിൽ നീരാജനവിളക്ക് ആരംഭിക്കുന്നു. ഇതിന് ശേഷം, ബ്രാഹ്മണശ്രേഷ്ഠന്മാരുടെയും വാദ്യമേളങ്ങളുടെയും അകമ്പടിയോടെ ദേവൻ ഭക്തജനങ്ങളെ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കാൻ പുറത്തേക്ക് എഴുന്നള്ളുന്നു. പരമപവിത്രവും ജന്മശ്രേഷ്ഠവുമായ ഈ മഹാകർമ്മത്തിൽ വ്രതശുദ്ധിയോടെ പങ്കെടുത്ത് ദേവന്റെ അനുഗ്രഹത്തിന് വിധേയരാകാൻ നൂറുകണക്കിന് ഭക്തർ ക്ഷേത്രസന്നിധിയിൽ എത്തിച്ചേരുന്നു.
