Chakkuvally Parabrahma temple is situated in the village of Porumvazhi. In this temple, the principal deity, Shiva, is revered as Parabrahma.
It is believed that the murti represents a fusion of Shiva and Valli, who is regarded as Shiva's sister.
The primary prathishta is situated beneath a Peepal tree, with Shiva oriented towards the east and Valli towards the west. The main temple festival is celebrated on Vrischikam 30, while Chirappu was previously observed from Vrischikam 1 to Vrischikam 12. An important celebration featuring Kettukazhcha takes place on the 28th day of Onam. Initially, the murtis in the temple were Shakti and Valli, with Shakti commonly referred to as Chakki, leading to the area being named Chakkivalli, which later evolved into Chakkuvally. It is believed that the temple is situated on one of the 18 padanilams of Kayamkulam.
To combat enemies, Kadampanad Naduvazhi is said to have installed Aghora Shiva at Chakkuvally Padanilam. In response, Sooranadu Naduvazhi placed Valli at a location directly opposite, allowing Shiva to have darshan of His sister.
Historically, the temple was associated with 18 karas, encompassing an 18-acre shrine and a large pond.
ചക്കുവള്ളി പരബ്രഹ്മ ക്ഷേത്രം

ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ പ്രധാന പ്രതിഷ്ഠ ബോധിവൃക്ഷത്തിൻറെ ചുവട്ടിലാണ്. ശിവൻ കിഴക്കോട്ടും, വള്ളി പടിഞ്ഞാറോട്ടുമാണ് ദർശനമായി നിലകൊള്ളുന്നത്. ഇത് അനവധി ഭക്തരെ ഈ പുണ്യസ്ഥലത്തേക്ക് ആകർഷിക്കുന്നു.
പ്രധാന ഉത്സവം വൃശ്ചികം 30-ാം തീയതി വലിയ ആഘോഷത്തോടെ ആചരിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു. നേരത്തെ ചിറപ്പ് ഉത്സവം വൃശ്ചികം 1 മുതൽ 12 വരെ നടന്നു വരുന്നത് ഒരു പാരമ്പര്യമായിരുന്നു. കൂടാതെ ഓണത്തിന്റേതായി, തിരുവോണത്തിന് ശേഷം 28-ാം ദിവസം കെട്ടുകാഴ്ചയോടെയുള്ള പ്രധാന ഉത്സവം നടക്കുന്നു.
ചക്കുവള്ളി ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെയും സ്ഥലത്തിൻറെയും ഉല്പത്തിയെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള ഐതിഹ്യങ്ങൾ വിശേഷതയുള്ളതാണ്. ആദ്യം, ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ മൂർത്തികൾ ശക്തിയും വള്ളിയും ആയിരുന്നുവെന്ന് പറയപ്പെടുന്നു.
ശക്തിയെ ചക്കി എന്ന് വിളിക്കുകയും, പിന്നീട് 'ചക്കിവള്ളി' ആയി മാറുകയും, സ്ഥലം ‘ചക്കുവള്ളി’ എന്ന പേരിൽ അറിയപ്പെടാൻ തുടങ്ങിയതാണെന്ന വിശ്വാസമാണ്. ക്ഷേത്രം, രാജാക്കന്മാരുടെ പടനിലകൾ ആയിരുന്ന 18 കരകളിൽ ഒന്നായി കണക്കാക്കപ്പെടുന്നു. കഥ അനുസരിച്ച്, രാജാവ് ശത്രുക്കളെ നശിപ്പിക്കാനായി ചക്കുവള്ളി പടനിലയിൽ അഘോരശിവനെ പ്രതിഷ്ഠിച്ചുവത്രേ. ശിവന്റെ സഹോദരിയായ വള്ളിയെ എതിർവശത്തുള്ള സ്ഥലത്ത് പ്രതിഷ്ഠിച്ചുവെന്ന് ശൂരനാട് നാടുവാഴിയോടുള്ള ഐതിഹ്യമാണ് പ്രസിദ്ധം.
മുൻകാലങ്ങളിൽ ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം 18 കരകളുടെയും ഉടമസ്ഥതയിലായിരുന്നു, കൂടാതെ 18 ഏക്കർ സ്ഥലം ഉൾപ്പെടുന്ന വലിയ ഒരു ക്ഷേത്രക്കുളം ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റേതായിരുന്നു.
