Chirakkara Devi temple is situated in Chirakkara, approximately 2.5 kilometers from the Kalluvathukkal junction, within the Kollam district of Kerala.
The shrine is devoted to Goddess Bhagavathi. The expansive temple complex features two distinct shrines: Meloottu, which is dedicated to Bhagavathi, and Keezhootu, which honors Yogeeswaran. According to tradition, a commander-in-chief of the Chirakkal army, who assisted the king of Travancore, is believed to have become Yogeeswaran. There are claims that the site originally housed only the Yogeeshwaralayam. Kalamezhuthum and Pattu are conducted at the temple. A festival takes place during the Bharani and Karthika nakshatras in the month of Kumbham.
This event attracts participants from four karas of the area. The ten-day celebration, which features Kettukazhcha, commences on the Uthram nakshatra day in Kumbham month with the ritual of kodiyettam. In the inner sanctum, Goddess Durga Devi is accompanied by Shiva on her right and Bhadrakali on her left. Ganapathi is revered at the kannimoola. Outside the Chuttu Mathil, Veerabhadra and Sastha receive worship. The northeast side is dedicated to the worship of Brahmarakshas. Additionally, the shrine features the pratishta of Madan, Marutha, and Pey.
ചിറക്കര ദേവി ക്ഷേത്രം
കല്ലുവാതുക്കൽ ജംഗ്ഷനിൽ നിന്ന് ഏകദേശം 2.5 കിലോമീറ്റർ അകലെ സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന ചിറക്കര ദേവീ ക്ഷേത്രം ഭഗവതി ദേവിക്കായാണ് സമർപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്. ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ ഉപാസകനായ കുടുബത്തിന്റെ പൂർവ്വിക ആചാര്യനെയാണ് യോഗീശ്വരൻ എന്ന് അറിയുന്നത്. അദ്ദേഹം കുടുംബത്തിന്റെയും കുടുംബാംഗങ്ങളുടെയും കാവലാളും, നാഥനുമാണ്. ശിവതുല്യനായി കണക്കാക്കപ്പെടുന്ന യോഗീശ്വരൻ, ഭസ്മാഭിഷേകം, കരിക്കഭിഷേകം, പാലും പഴവും എന്നിവയെ പ്രധാന വഴിപാടുകളായി സ്വീകരിക്കുന്നു. ഗുരുദക്ഷിണ സമർപ്പണം എന്നിവയും അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ പ്രധാന വഴിപാടുകളിൽ ഉൾപ്പെടുന്നു.
ആവാഹിച്ച് മാറ്റാൻ പാടില്ലാത്ത മൂർത്തിയാണ്യോ ഗീശ്വരൻ. ശിവസമക്ഷത്തിൽ എല്ലാ പ്രാർത്ഥനകളും യോഗീശ്വരൻ നടത്താൻ കഴിയും. വലിയ ക്ഷേത്ര വളപ്പിൽ രണ്ട് ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങൾ സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നു : മേലൂട്ടും കീഴൂട്ടും. മേലൂട്ട് ഭഗവതിക്കും കീഴൂട്ട് യോഗീശ്വരനുമാണ് സമർപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്. തിരുവിതാംകൂർ രാജാവിനെ സഹായിക്കാൻ എത്തിയ ചിറക്കൽ സേനാനായകൻ യോഗീശ്വരനായി മാറിയെന്നു പറയപ്പെടുന്നു. ഈ സ്ഥലത്ത് യോഗീശ്വരാലയം മാത്രമേ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നുവെന്ന് ചിലർ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നു.
ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ കളമെഴുത്തും പാട്ടും നടത്തപ്പെടുന്നു. കുംഭമാസത്തിലെ ഭരണി, കാർത്തിക നക്ഷത്രങ്ങളിൽ ഇവിടെ ഉത്സവം നടത്തപ്പെടുന്നു. പ്രദേശത്തെ നാല് കരകളുടെ പങ്കാളിത്തം ഉത്സവത്തിൽ കാണപ്പെടുന്നു.
കെട്ടുകാഴ്ച ഉൾപ്പെടുന്ന 10 ദിവസത്തെ വർണ്ണാഭമായ ഉത്സവം കുംഭമാസത്തിലെ രേവതി നക്ഷത്ര നാളിൽ കൊടിയേറ്റത്തോടെ ആരംഭിക്കുന്നു. ശ്രീകോവിലിൽ ദുർഗ്ഗാദേവിയുടെ വലതുവശത്ത് ശിവൻ, ഇടതുവശത്ത് ഭദ്രകാളി സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നു. കന്നിമൂലയിലാണ് ഗണപതിയെ ആരാധിക്കുന്നത്. ചുറ്റുമഠത്തിന് പുറത്തു വീരഭദ്രനും ശാസ്താവിനും ആരാധന നടത്തുന്നു. വടക്കുകിഴക്കു ഭാഗത്ത് ബ്രഹ്മരക്ഷസിനെ ആരാധിക്കുന്നു. മാടൻ, മറുത എന്നിവരുടെ പ്രതിഷ്ഠയും ശ്രീകോവിലിൽ കാണാം.
