Chittakkat Sree Bhadrakali Devi Temple is a historic temple dedicated to Goddess Bhadrakali, situated in Inchakkadu Kakakunnu within the Kollam district.
The Goddess radiates her presence in the form of Emperor Shaktiswarupini and Ishtavaradaini, overseeing the prosperity of the region. The ten-day Thirunal Mahotsavam of Ponnu Tampuratti takes place during the month of Kumbham. It begins with Trikhodiyettu and culminates in Thiru Aarattu. The festival features special pujas and the recitation of the Bhagavatam, along with Annadanam, Utsavabali, and various artistic performances held at the temple. Individuals from diverse castes and religions come together to celebrate Chittakkatamma's Thirunal Mahotsavam, transforming it into a national festival. A unique ritual known as Lemonlamp Pooja is conducted on the first and third Sundays of each Malayalam month, holding significant importance in the presence of Amma, the goddess representing power and omnipotence.
The lemon lamp serves as an offering in temples aimed at alleviating Rahu Dosha. This lamp is created by pouring ghee or oil into a mold shaped like a lemon, which possesses acidic qualities. The addition of oil or ghee to the highly acidic lemon peel enhances its effects. As part of the Rajasapuja, a lemon lamp is lit to honor the Goddess Shaktiswarupini. By lighting a lemon lamp, devotees are believed to receive the benefits of a light homam. It is thought that chanting the name of Lord Agni and venerating the Goddess will help eliminate Rahu Dosha.
ചിറ്റക്കാട്ട് ശ്രീഭദ്രകാളി ക്ഷേത്രം
ഇഞ്ചക്കാട് കാക്കാകുന്നിൽ സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന പുരാതന ഭദ്രകാളി ക്ഷേത്രമായ ചിറ്റക്കാട്ട് ശ്രീഭദ്രകാളി ദേവീ ക്ഷേത്രം, ശ്രീ ഭദ്രകാളിക്കായാണ് സമർപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്. പത്ത്നാൾ നീണ്ടുനിൽക്കുന്ന തിരുനാൾ മഹോത്സവം കുംഭമാസത്തിൽ ആഘോഷിക്കുന്നു. തൃക്കൊടിയേറ്റത്തോടെ ആരംഭിച്ച് തിരുഃ ആറാട്ടോടുകൂടി സമാപിക്കുന്നു. ഉത്സവത്തിന്റെ ഭാഗമായി വിശേഷാൽ പൂജകൾ, ഭാഗവത പാരായണം, അന്നദാനം, ഉത്സവബലി, വിവിധ കലാപരിപാടികൾ എന്നിവ നടത്തപ്പെടുന്നു. നാനാജാതിമതസ്ഥരും ഈ ഉത്സവത്തിൽ പങ്കുചേർന്ന് ചിറ്റക്കാട്ടമ്മയുടെ തിരുനാൾ മഹോത്സവത്തെ നാടിന്റെ മഹോത്സവമാക്കി മാറ്റുന്നു.
ശക്തിസ്വരൂപിണിയും സർവൈശ്വര്യപ്രദായിനിയുമായ അമ്മയുടെ തിരുസന്നിധിയിൽ ഏറെ പ്രാധാന്യമർഹിക്കുന്ന നാരങ്ങാ വിളക്ക് പൂജ, എല്ലാ മലയാള മാസങ്ങളിലെ ആദ്യത്തെയും മൂന്നാമത്തെയും ഞായറാഴ്ചകളിൽ നടത്തപ്പെടുന്നു. രാഹുദോഷത്തിന്റെ പരിഹാരത്തിനായി ദേവീക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളിൽ നടത്തപ്പെടുന്ന ഒരു വഴിപാടാണ് നാരങ്ങാവിളക്ക്. അമ്ലഗുണമുള്ള നാരങ്ങയെ ചിരാതിന്റെ രൂപത്തിൽ മാറ്റി, അതിലേക്ക് നെയ്യോ എണ്ണയോ ഒഴിച്ചാണ് നാരങ്ങാ വിളക്ക് കത്തിക്കുന്നത്. നാരങ്ങയുടെ അമ്ലഗുണം എണ്ണയോ നെയ്യോ ചേർന്നപ്പോൾ അതിന്റെ ഫലം ശക്തമായിരിക്കും. ശക്തിസ്വരൂപിണിയായ ദേവിയെ പ്രീതിപ്പെടുത്തുന്നതിനുള്ള രാജസപൂജയുടെ ഭാഗമായാണ് നാരങ്ങാവിളക്ക് കത്തിക്കുന്നത്. ഭക്തർക്ക് ലഭിക്കുന്നതും ലഘുവായ ഒരു ഹോമത്തിന്റെ ഫലമാണ്. അഗ്നിഭഗവാനെ സാക്ഷി.
