Kureepuzha Valiyakavu Sree Parvathi Devi Temple is situated approximately one kilometer from Kavanad in the Kollam district.
This temple is dedicated to the goddess Parvathy and is managed by the Travancore Devaswom Board. The annual festival of Valiyakavilamma, known as Kartika Mahotsavam, is observed for eight days during the month of Dhanu. The festivities include special pujas, a vibrant parade featuring caparisoned elephants, melam, a fireworks display, Ulsavabali, as well as various religious and cultural programs, including discourses, music, and dance, which enhance the appeal of the celebration.
The Navrathri Mahotsav and the Thaipuya Kavadi procession are among the most significant days at the temple. Additionally, special occasions such as Thiruvathira are celebrated with their own unique significance. മഹോത്സവത്തിന്റെ ഭാഗമായി പ്രത്യേക പൂജകൾ, നെറ്റിപ്പട്ടം കെട്ടിയ ഗജവീരന്മാരുടെ വർണ്ണപ്പകിട്ടാർന്ന എഴുന്നള്ളിപ്പ്, മേളം, കരിമരുന്ന് പ്രയോഗം, ഉത്സവബലി, മതപരവും സാംസ്‌കാരികവുമായ പരിപാടികൾ, പ്രഭാഷണങ്ങൾ, സംഗീതം, നൃത്തം എന്നിവ ഉത്സവത്തെ കൂടുതൽ ആകർഷകമാക്കുന്നു. നവരാത്രി മഹോത്സവവും, തൈപ്പൂയ കാവടി ഘോഷയാത്രയും ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ പ്രധാന ആഘോഷ ദിവസങ്ങളാണ്.
തിരുവാതിര പോലുള്ള പ്രത്യേക ദിവസങ്ങൾ അവയുടെ പ്രാധാന്യങ്ങൾക്കൊപ്പം ആഘോഷിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു. കന്യകമാർ ഉത്തമ ഭർത്താവിനെ നേടുന്നതിനും, വിവാഹിതർ ദീർഘമംഗല്യത്തിനും, ഭർത്താവിന്റെ ആയുരാരോഗ്യത്തിനും, സന്താനലബ്ധിക്കും, സന്താനങ്ങളുടെ ക്ഷേമത്തിനും വേണ്ടി തിരുവാതിരവ്രതം അനുഷ്‌ഠിക്കുന്നു. മീന മാസത്തിൽ വലിയകാവിലമ്മയുടെ പ്രതിഷ്‌ഠാ വാർഷികം ആഘോഷിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു.
