Kochuchotanikara Bhagavati Temple is situated in the picturesque Puttur Karimpinpuzha, at the westernmost part of the Kottarakkara taluk within the Kollam district.
Kochu Chottanikara Devi Temple, dedicated to the worship of Chotanikarayamma as the principal deity, is renowned for its unique practice of opening exclusively on full moon days. Each month, devotees from various regions of the country gather to participate in the Poornami Puja, which takes place on the day of Pournami (Veluthavavavu). The temple has increasingly become recognized for its emphasis on this significant ritual.
The full moon night is specifically designated for the full moon puja. Since the establishment of the new temple, Pournami Puja has been conducted here for the past 52 years, as of 2023. A considerable number of devotees attend the ‘Mahadeepaaradhana’ ceremony on Pournami day, seeking the blessings associated with Devi darshan, which is believed to aid in healing ailments, diseases, and attracting good fortune. It is widely held that witnessing the Mahadeeparadhana without interruption over 12 full moon nights brings great blessings, a belief well-known among those who frequent this sacred site. Kochu Chotanikara Devikshetra is a temple that operates solely on full moon days, with special pujas conducted during significant occasions such as Makam Tozhal in the month of Makaram, Shivratri, Ashtami Rohini, Ayilyam in the month of Thulam, and ‘Madanoottu,’ which occurs on the last Friday preceding Makam Tozhal.
കൊച്ചുചോറ്റാനിക്കര ഭഗവതിക്ഷേത്രം
കൊല്ലം ജില്ലയിലെ കൊട്ടാരക്കരയ്ക്ക് പടിഞ്ഞാറായി സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന പുത്തൂര്‍ കരിമ്പിന്‍പുഴയിലെ പ്രശസ്തമായ കൊച്ചുചോറ്റാനിക്കര ദേവീക്ഷേത്രം ചോറ്റാനിക്കരയമ്മയെ മൂലശക്തിയായി ആരാധിക്കുന്ന പുണ്യ സങ്കേതമാണ്. 80-ആം കൊല്ലവർഷത്തിലാണ് ക്ഷേത്രോത്പത്തി എന്ന് കരുതപ്പെടുന്നു. ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം പ്രത്യേകമായും പൗര്‍ണ്ണമി ദിവസം മാത്രം തുറക്കുകയും പൗര്‍ണ്ണമി പൂജ നടത്തുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.
പ്രതിമാസ പൗര്‍ണ്ണമി ദിവസങ്ങളിൽ, നാടിന്റെ നാനാഭാഗത്തു നിന്നുള്ള ഭക്തജനങ്ങൾ ഈ പൂജയ്ക്കായി എത്തുന്നു. 12 പൗര്‍ണ്ണമി പൂജകൾ മുടങ്ങാതെ ദര്‍ശനവും മഹാദീപാരാധനയും കഴിച്ചാൽ അഭീഷ്ടഫലം ലഭിക്കുമെന്നാണ് വിശ്വാസം.
മകരമാസത്തിലെ മകം തൊഴൽ, ശിവരാത്രി, അഷ്ടമിരോഹിണി, ആയില്യം, മാടനൂട്ട് തുടങ്ങിയ പ്രത്യേക പൂജകളും ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ നടക്കുന്നു.
