Kodimoottil Sri Bhadrakaali Temple is the most renowned temple located in Parippally, Kollam. The idol enshrined within this temple is that of Bhadrakali Devi.
Shiva, Ganapathi, and the Navagrahas are also present as Upaprathista. This temple hosts numerous festivals throughout the year. The major festival, known as the Mahotsavam, takes place annually in March and lasts for ten days, commencing with the Pongala ceremony. Women from various regions of Kollam and Trivandrum districts actively take part in this event. The highlight of the Mahotsavam is the Gajamela, an elephant procession, which occurs on the final day of the celebration. Although the temple is overseen by the Ezhava Chekaver community, individuals from all castes join in the festivities. Additionally, Navarathri is celebrated as a significant festival at this temple.
കൊടിമൂട്ടിൽ ശ്രീ ഭദ്രകാളി ക്ഷേത്രം
കൊല്ലം ജില്ലയിലെ പാരിപ്പള്ളിയിൽ സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന കൊടിമൂട്ടിൽ ശ്രീ ഭദ്രകാളി ക്ഷേത്രം, അതിന്റെ പ്രശസ്തിയാൽ അറിയപ്പെടുന്നു. ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ മുഖ്യ പ്രതിഷ്ഠ ഭദ്രകാളി ദേവിയാണ്, കൂടാതെ ശിവൻ, ഗണപതി, നവഗ്രഹങ്ങൾ എന്നിവയും ഉപപ്രതിഷ്ഠകളായി ഉണ്ട്. ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ വിവിധ ഉത്സവങ്ങൾ ആഘോഷിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു, ഭദ്രോത്സവം പ്രധാനമാണ്. മാർച്ച് മാസത്തിൽ പൊങ്കാല ആരംഭിച്ച് പത്ത് ദിവസങ്ങളോളം നടക്കുന്ന മഹോത്സവമാണ് ഇത്. കൊല്ലം, തിരുവനന്തപുരം ജില്ലകളിൽ നിന്നുള്ള സ്ത്രീകൾ ഈ ഉത്സവത്തിൽ പങ്കെടുത്ത് ആഘോഷിക്കുന്നു.
പത്താം ദിവസത്തെ മഹോത്സവത്തിലെ പ്രധാന ആകർഷണം ആന ഘോഷയാത്രയായ ഗജമേളയാണ്. ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ ഭരണകാര്യങ്ങൾ ഈഴവ ചേകവർ സമുദായം നിയന്ത്രിക്കുന്നു, എല്ലാ ജാതിമതസ്ഥരും ഉത്സവത്തിൽ പങ്കുചേരുന്നു. നവരാത്രി ഇവിടെ പ്രത്യേകമായി ആഘോഷിക്കുന്ന ഉത്സവമാണ്. മുടിയേറ്റ് നടക്കുന്ന അപൂർവ്വമായ ചില ഭദ്രകാളി ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളിൽ കൊടിമൂട്ടിൽ ശ്രീ ഭദ്രകാളി ക്ഷേത്രം പ്രധാനമാണ്. കേരളീയ പൈതൃകത്തിൽ എക്കാലത്തും ശ്രദ്ധിക്കേണ്ട ഒരു അദ്ധ്യായമാണ് മുടിയേറ്റ് എന്ന അനുഷ്ഠാന കല, ഇത് സംസ്കാരികതയുടെ അടയാളവും കൈരളിയുടെ അഭിമാനവുമാണ്.
