Ayiravillan Mahadeva Temple is situated in the village of Kuzhiyam, within the Chittumala block of the Kollam district.
The temple is dedicated to Shri Parameswaran and Shri Parvathi Devi, with Sri Parameswara being revered in the Kiratha tradition. This ancient site, rich in history, features Mahadeva and the Mother of the World positioned together, facing East, symbolizing the essence of divine blessings. The temple is home to a multitude of deities, including the powerful Unni Ganapati at Kannimula, Goddess Durga, Yakshiamma, Bhuvaneshwari, Dharma Shasta, Bhadrakali, Brahmarakshas, Maadan Tampuran, and Yogishwara.
The significant presence of these deities and Naganmar has transformed Sri Ayiravillan Temple into a sanctuary for countless devotees. Noteworthy aspects of the temple include the Muhurthi Paradevata and the potent Naga Pratishtha. In January 2016, the Dhwaja Pratishtha Karma and Trikodiyettu rituals at Kuzhiiyam Sri Ayiravillan Mahadevar Temple were conducted with great reverence. Key events celebrated at the temple include Bhagavata Saptahayajna, Makairam Thirunal Utsav, Muhurthi Paradevata Utsav, and Thiruvathira Mahotsav during the month of Dhanu. The temple festival's main attractions feature Annadanam, kettukasha, traditional temple art performances, thalapoli, Chendamelam, and Vilakku Ezhunnallippu.
