Mampuzha Indalayappan Temple, which has stood for centuries, is situated in the Kottankara Panchayat within the Kollam district. It is recognized as one of the one hundred and eight Mahashivalayas oriented towards the west.
Indilayappan Temple is dedicated to Parameshwaramurthy Indalayappan, who blesses devotees seeking refuge from family troubles, business challenges, and various obstacles. This Ayyappa temple features a deity in the form of Sabarimala Dharmashasta, along with sub-shrines dedicated to the goddess of the Math. Adjacent to the temple is a sacred Theertha pool. The primary offering is a one-day puja, which includes rituals like Chandrapongala, Jaladhara, and Homams. One of the temple's notable events is the Chirappu Mahotsav during Mandalakalam, while the Naga Puja held in the month of Thulam is particularly significant due to the active presence of snakes in the Kavu area.
The annual festival is celebrated as the Meenamasa Punartham festival, with Kotankara, Erath, and Mampuzha lands playing a prominent role. In the lead-up to the festival, a pada ehunnellippu (procession) takes place across the land. The sight of the horse (Eduppukuthira) being carried, without regard to the distance, piques the curiosity of onlookers. Various organizations participate in this grand festival, which lasts for at least ten days, featuring floats, carriage horses, and vibrant processions. The festival's attractions include special rituals and pujas such as the Tiruvabharana procession, Ghee Abhishekam, Samooha Niranjana Vilakku, Ayyappa Sadya, Shiva Puja, Aditya Pongala, and spectacular fireworks.
മാമ്പുഴ ഇണ്ടിളയപ്പന്‍ ക്ഷേത്രം
കൊല്ലം ജില്ലയിലെ കൊറ്റങ്കര പഞ്ചായത്തിൽ സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന മാമ്പുഴ ഇണ്ടിളയപ്പൻ ക്ഷേത്രം നൂറ്റാണ്ടുകളോളം പഴക്കമുള്ള ഒരു ആരാധനാലയമാണ്. പടിഞ്ഞാറ് ദർശനം ഉള്ള നൂറ്റിയെട്ട് മഹാശിവാലയങ്ങളിൽ ഒന്നായി ഇത് കണക്കാക്കപ്പെടുന്നു. മുല്ലപ്പന്തലിന്റെ രൂപത്തിലുള്ള നാലമ്പലവും, ശിൽപ്പചാരുതയാർന്ന മുഖമണ്ഡപവും, കൃഷ്ണശിലയിൽ നിർമ്മിച്ച ശ്രീകോവിലുമുണ്ട്. ഈ സ്ഥലത്തിന്റെ ഐശ്വര്യമായ ഇണ്ടിളയപ്പൻ, കുടുംബദുരിതങ്ങൾ, കാര്യവിഘ്നങ്ങൾ, മംഗല്യതടസങ്ങൾ എന്നിവ മൂലം അസ്വസ്ഥത അനുഭവിക്കുന്ന ഭക്തന്മാർക്ക് അഭയദാനം നൽകുന്നു. ശബരിമല ധർമ്മശാസ്താവിന്റെ ഭാവത്തിൽ പ്രതിഷ്ഠയോടെ ഉള്ള അയ്യപ്പക്ഷേത്രവും, മഠത്തിലെ ദേവിക്കുള്ള ക്ഷേത്രവും, ഉപദേവാലയങ്ങളുമുണ്ട്. കാവിനോട് ചേർന്ന് തീർത്ഥക്കുളവും സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നു.
പ്രധാനവഴിപാട്‌ ഒരു ദിവസത്തെ പൂജയാണ്‌. ചന്ദ്രപൊങ്കാല, ജലധാര, ഹോമം എന്നിവയോടൊപ്പം മറ്റ്‌ വഴിപാടുകളും നടത്തപ്പെടുന്നു. മണ്ഡലകാലത്തെ ചിറപ്പ്‌ മഹോത്സവം ഏറെ പ്രശസ്തമാണ്‌. കാവിൽ സജീവമായ സർപ്പസാന്നിധ്യം കാരണം, തുലാം മാസത്തിൽ നടക്കുന്ന നാഗപൂജയ്ക്ക് പ്രത്യേക പ്രാധാന്യമുണ്ട്. ഭഗവാന്റെ തിരുനാളായ മീനമാസത്തിലെ പുണർതം ഉത്സവമായി ആഘോഷിക്കുന്നു. കൊറ്റങ്കര, ഏറത്ത്‌, മാമ്പുഴ എന്നീ കരകൾ ഉത്സവത്തിന് നേതൃത്വം നൽകുന്നു.
ഉത്സവത്തിന്റെ മുന്നോടിയായി കരകളിൽ പറ എഴുന്നെള്ളിപ്പ് നടക്കും. ഓരോ കരയിലും കെട്ടുന്ന എടുപ്പുകുതിരയെ ദൂരം കണക്കാക്കാതെ കൊണ്ടുവരുന്ന കാഴ്ച എല്ലാവരിലും കൗതുകം സൃഷ്ടിക്കും. വിവിധ സ്ഥാപനങ്ങളുടെ ഫ്ലോട്ടുകളും വണ്ടിക്കുതിരകളും മറ്റും കെട്ടുകാഴ്ചകളും അണിനിരക്കുന്ന ഘോഷയാത്രയും ഉണ്ടാകും. പത്തിൽ കുറയാത്ത ദിവസങ്ങൾ നീണ്ടുപോകുന്നു.
ഉത്സവത്തോടനുബന്ധിച്ചുള്ള തിരുവാഭരണ ഘോഷയാത്ര, നെയ്യഭിഷേകം, സമൂഹ നിരഞ്ജന വിളക്ക്, അയ്യപ്പസദ്യ, ശിവപൂജ, ആദിത്യ പൊങ്കാല, വെടിക്കെട്ട് എന്നിവയാണ് ഉത്സവത്തിന്റെ പ്രധാന ആകർഷണങ്ങൾ.
